I've listened to several versions of this song by many different artists. This is by far my favorite. Kevin Rowland sings it with so much emotion. Beautiful!
Greatest film ever...the aul guy gettin the last rites then running down the road trying tae get his breeks on tae see Sean Thornton fightin squire Danaher😂😂😂
Are you really being serious? Am i missing something? Did you ever hear the original version? This is such a bad version that it is actually funny. Wtf is going on in this world? Jesus were all fucked.😢
I can’t stop listening to this production of mr Roland As a kid I was always fascinated with dexies midnight runners what a great artist you are Kevin true to your artist attributes. It’s well known that when it comes to your art you are very serious and sometimes a little hot now I know why you are cursed with Irish background. I totally love your version of the cor of kd. Another iresh person is coming home 🏡 thank you quveen
Wow! I forgotten the band. I remembering me. Dexys midnight runner's. And ! Common Aline!? 80ths! 90ths! My favourite club Song! And now this! Better than all. This song is so wonderful! Thank you so much! Greetings from Germany
The rose upon the briar And the water running clear Lend enchantment to the linnet and the bee Their little hearts are blessed Oh, but mine can know no rest For my true love is far away from me Oh, it's straight I will repair To the Curragh of Kildare 'Cos it’s there I’ll finds tidings of my dear All you who are in love But cannot it remove I pity the pain that you endure For experience lets me know That your hearts are filled with woe And a pain that no mortal can endure So it's straight I will repair To the Curragh of Kildare Because it’s there I’ll find tidings of my dear And it's straight I will repair To the Curragh of Kildare For it’s there I’ll finds tidings of my dear I've got to go I've got to find tidings of my dear
Its amazing (looking at some of the comments) the reality that was lived in Dublin in the liberty's and roundabout is not what people believe but is the narrative that was and is still deployed now. It was not partisan in any way it was not republican and it was not discriminatory, people were too busy making ends meet looking after each other. Catholic-Protestant and Jew all the same and friends. Like Bob, Geldolf sang it police and Priests banana republic was the truth my mother and grandmother lived it. My Grandmother stated to the family one day that it was better when the brits held sway and her husband was a republican sympathiser and participant. The matriarchs fear no one and more power to them, if it was up to them there would be no wars. Fine song. Said my piece, Thanks.
Long on attitude and hipsterism with a bit of humor, but ultimately a travesty. Burns, if he were still alive, would kick your arses. I don't mind sending up well-known trad songs, but try this stuff on lesser songs like say "Come on, Eileen".
Irish folk songs don’t “belong” to anyone, folk music is a living thing constantly evolving, not a museum piece, Rowland continues in an age old Irish tradition of reinterpreting and reworking traditional songs.
@@1davidcampbell You are correct that folk music doesn't "belong" to any individual. Further, I agree that the lifeblood of any folk music is re-interpretation. But to me this version is farce. Style over substance, a send-up of a beautiful trad song. You have your opinion and I have mine. I hope that we shall agree to disagree without being disagreeable. Cheers.
Mr Rowland is a class act
So happy Kevin is one of us...☘️☘️☘️💚💚💚
A homosexual?!
Living in England done that to him @SuperHans64
Absolutely awsome!
Kev just brings integrity and soul to everything he does. An absolute legend. Magnificent.

What a GREAT version this is.
Holy cow Kevin, that was awesome!
This just brought tears to my eyes ❤️
The rose upon the briar
And the water running clear
Lend enchantment to the linnet and the bee
Their little hearts are blessed
Oh, but mine can know no rest
For my true love is far away from me
Oh, it's straight I will repair
To the Curragh of Kildare
'Cos it’s there I’ll finds tidings of my dear
All you who are in love
But cannot it remove
I pity the pain that you endure
For experience lets me know
That your hearts are filled with woe
And a pain that no mortal can endure
So it's straight I will repair
To the Curragh of Kildare
Because it’s there I’ll find tidings of my dear
And it's straight I will repair
To the Curragh of Kildare
For it’s there I’ll finds tidings of my dear
I've got to go
I've got to find tidings of my dear
Fell in love with this the first time I heard it.
Brilliant ! Thank so much Dexys !
Talent at it best. Keep them coming !
This might be one of my ten best musical moments ever.

Fureys still pretty much own this.
Great version, but the Johnstons have the best version in my eyes
Someone plz link me Hayley keoghs version!!
Kildare is flat... that's not Kildare where the lads are.
Interesting.
Kevin Rowland the best
Better sounds have come from my arse on a Monday morning after a weekend session on Guinness. 😢
Loved Dexys Midnight Runners long ago...but much prefer Brian Kennedys version of this song
Tf! 😂
Weak, Listen to the Johnson's version.
You're an asshole dude
Bj
I,M NOT A FAN OF THIS VERSION
Right-O. Once you hear The Fureys' original, this doesn't really do much.
Have to agree.

you know the truth my brother
a travesty indeed
Get a grip, Kevin loves the song, he is proud of his Irish heritage, its his version, something
different, it doesn't all have to be diddly aye,
David ONeill Lovely song, better than Brian Kennedy’s version. This is the first time I heard this rendition, well sung with great emotion.
