When I was a child I visited Delphi and I spent some time infront of him. I remember that nobody could look at his eyes for long, because after a while they had the feeling that a living soul was trapped in the statue. The atmosphere and the energy were unbelievable.

Indeed. Their comments are not only informative but have a relaxing effect as well, as if creating a mental state that favors the appreciation of the works presented.Simply marvelous !

I have visited Delphi twice and this bronze really is worth the visit. Very lifelike and you actually have the feeling that it observes you.

I've had the enormous pleasure of spending much time at Delphi, particularly out of season over the last 20 years - also Athens & the other "mainland sites - this work is breathtaking. I've only just found this channel & it's excellent library of videos, it's such a shame they have so few - relatively - likes/views,the narration is erudite & both it & the brevity of the videos leaves me wanting more. Thank you to everyone involved.

you should zoom into the eyes and let everybody see how realistic it has been cast. he looks at you, dark eyeballs, eyelashes and all. also, it would be nice telling people how it was found and where, digging and stuff

Apparently, the only reason it has survived is because it got buried in a landslide, and they forgot to dig it up to recycle the bronze.

He is a young man with wispy sideburns , sweaty from the race.
Also, notice the indentation the strap makes on his back where the cloth is pressed against his shoulder.
      Magnificent!

My biggest impression is of how little space there is between his nose and upper lip, lol. I don't get much else from this one.

Minimum of 1/8 inch thick... 1/4 is desirable...probably originally made in wax.
