  • When Nomos have given me the opportunity to choose a model to review, with no hesitation I pointed at this. Not only is the exposure of this dress watch eclipsed by the famous Tangente, but it presents a fascinating dichotomy, fusing together two concepts as different to each other as night is to day.

The best pairing here was not the suit, but Erik Satie! ;-) I enjoyed watching this. It made me yearn for experiencing some classic European class. It's peculiar, in a way, that dress watches often seem to lean to opulence, but this surely is very pared back, indeed harking to the Bauhaus inspired roots the brand trades on. I would tend to agree the Roman numerals are a better match for this layout, striking remarkable balance. It is also the Roman numerals that, I think, make this watch seem out of place in too informal settings. Nonetheless, I don't flinch at wearing dress style watches in most situations, and I think I could pull off that 'extravagance', especially because it is so pared back. I enjoy seeing this watch much more in the ivory tone than the harsh scintillating finish. It's actually an aspect of this watch I don't appreciate so much. My Max Bill has a similar kind of dull sparkling powderiness, but rarely becomes harsh. Perhaps also helped by the famed 'warmth' of domed plexi. The beauty of that 'dress' watch is that it would appear to be easier to dress it down. But in that respect, I think there may be an opportunity to put this on nappa, suede, or a textured leather to take the edge off its formality, too.

Another low profile wonder. Nomos has a few beauties for sure. Thanks Toni.

Ludwig is my favorite modern dress watch, bar none. Great review! The music was a perfect touch, too.

Good review but my goodness, the designers had an easy task there. I would call it a Friday watch as the designers started on it Friday morning and finished by lunch for the pub before home.
    Soo boring and unimaginative

I, myself, am not a champion of minimalism, but, as I've always stated, taste is personal and a reviewer should steer clear of making considerations on the subject. I appreciate Ludwig more than other Nomos watches for its balance, and factoring in the great build quality and the in-house caliber I can definitely understand its appeal to those watch enthusiasts that like its styling too.
Thank you for your honest feedback!

Have you experienced it in real life? I own two Tangentes, and they have become my go to watches. Love their designs, that you over time only, will really discover.
