What better way to conclude the year as to recapture one of its outstanding highlights by revisiting Finnish Symphonic Metal legends NIGHTWISH taking the likewise legendary Wacken Open Air by storm? After being decorated with triple platinum status in Finland as well as gold status in numerous European countries (Germany, Switzerland, Poland, among others) for their most current studio masterpiece »Imaginaerum« and following the highly successful release of their very own fantasy motion picture »Imaginaerum by Nightwish«, the band is closing in its cycle of the `Imaginaerum World Tour´ with a festival triple -- Wacken Open Air being the first of those final shows. The `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2013-2013 visited in 34 countries, consisted of 104 shows with total audience attendance of over 1,5 million fans.
And what would be a better way to celebrate the grand finale as to capture the entire show at Wacken Open Air -- the world's biggest heavy metal festival -- for a live DVD/Blu-ray? The live show in the front of 85 000 screaming metalheads was directed by Ville Lipiäinen, filmed with seventeen cameras and has a total duration of 85 minutes.
Mastermind and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen states:
"The time has come soon to wrap up the magical & memorable one-and-a-half year `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2012-2013! We still have three shows left, one of them being at the legendary Wacken Open Air Metal Festival on the 3rd of August. This show will be something extra special, since it will be released later this year on DVD/Blu-ray, together with a massive `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2012-2013 documentary. Our darling flying Dutchwoman, Floor Jansen, has been nothing but incredible during her time in Nightwish on this tour, so this is a perfect opportunity to immortalize the current vibe of the band on film! "
The second disc consists of 120-minute tour documentary 'Please Learn The Setlist in 48 Hours', with no short of drama or overall madness. Also, there is a 16-minute NIGHTWISH Table Hockey Tournament, filmed on tour. On top of this there are two music clips: 'I want my tears back' (Live at Hartwall Arena) and 'Ghost Love Score' (Live in Buenos Aires).

This band is amazing! I’m 71 and just found Nightwish and I can’t get enough. I play them everywhere, in the car, taking a shower! Late at night, and mostly on my walks everyday! I need to play catch up on all their songs! I want to be in the Nightwish army!
Go back to the early albums. That's how I did it. I devoured them. They are my favorite band, and I'm an old hard rock guy.

Well Miriam I am 72 and just discovered Nightwish few weeks ago and like you just can't get enough of them and still havn't heard all their top songs. Incredible writing and performances. Finally saw a gray haired dude rocking in the audience. that would be ME if they get anywhere near Missouri. absolutely addicted to them!

The keyboards drums bass guitar and voice in that special period from 2012 through 2013 was probably Nightwish at their absolute best I don't think I've seen or heard them better that was kind of like pure Magic

a little over a year ago for me. Phanton came up on my RUclips recommends and just began playing. I remember looking up going WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE. NIGHTWISH FOREVER. It's amazing how some artists can so appeal to your heart. Jim Steinman was there for me for decades. Now it is Nightwish

Perfect and beautiful music for the wintertime. Whenever i listen to this i see straying wolves in a snow covered cold forest somewhere in the north. This song is so beautiful, it brings tears to my eyes.

Me! Jukka's tone, energy and groove are irreplaceable. Such a showman and my favorite drummer ever. He always knew what sounds great and Nightwish, and had a great tone on his drums. It's unfair to say this, because Kai is awesome drummer (technically even better than Jukka), but I really miss Jukka. NW is not the same without him.
Kai is good but noone will ever place the energy and precision of jukka from one drummer to another much respect for all he accomplished his perfect time keeping especially when the man could not get the sleep he so desperately needed i thank you jukka

From my favorite songs, it's magic and pure fantasy.
I remember when they performed this in San Diego back in 2008. It was so unexpected!! Anette left the stage, and they busted out this tune. Tuomas took the lead parts on keys, and it was just magical. I can still remember the audience going insane.

2 years later and probably irrelevant at this point, but those are uileann pipes, not bagpipes. You dont blow into these pipes and they are more associated with Irish traditional music, while bagpipes are more Scottish associated
@@matthewodonovan308 OK, if we split the hairs :) Begging yer pardon. There's a bag where the air is pressed out thru pipes to make music. But true, the Scottish folk took the name first, so we did have to come up with another name for this.
I've met the word uilleann (said like 'elian') pipes after that comment. Was it elbow pipes in English?

We introduced my father to Nightwish on Christmas Day 2022 - he now plays Nightwish most days (very loud) to accompany him whilst doing the housework. At 90 years of age - could he be Nightwish oldest fan?
