      It's crazy because of how many easy goals he gets his teammates as well, I can't remember the last time I saw a dual threat offensive player like this. Mcdavid has the speed and can do it all, Crosby could pass and do it all and I think Bedard has a better wrist shot than both and is a better passer. Not sure where his stickhandling and physicality stands with those guys. I feel like Bedard with Power Play minutes is going to rack up points in the NHL.

Even though he was trying to score on my son he was always so special just to watch. His linemate back then was Andrew Christall, look what Andrews doing in the WHL. They were the most deadly combo every single tournament, purely entertaining to watch though. Bedard would always be the difference maker in any game we played them, never did I ever imagine he would become what he has though. Back then he would put up 50 points over 5 games in tournaments. • @VoIcanoman
      @VoIcanoman Год назад +4

      I dunno...I think they'd much rather be playing in the top division than dominating Division IA. Most of these players will never play hockey in North America, and all but 2-3 will never see the NHL. Getting to play against legitimate superstars, players who will be top 10 talents in the NHL (nevermind Bedard, who could be #1 in a few years) is something they'll be telling their grandchildren about, 50 years down the line. It doesn't matter that they got blown out. They never expected any other result. The fact they held Canada to 1 shot and no goals for the first 14 minutes of the game is bragging rights enough for a country like Austria. If this wasn't the case, you wouldn't see some of the most compelling hockey being played at the WJC between teams like Germany and Austria (this year), fighting to compete against the big boys.
      More importantly, for countries like Latvia, Germany and Austria, staying in the top division at the WJC isn't about winning today or next year. Their goals are long-term - improving their national development of quality hockey players - but the only way to achieve them is to avoid relegation and chip away at the disparity between their nation and ours. This is not a disparity of talent...Finland has like, 5 million people (half as many as Austria), and manage to ice competitive teams each year (and Germany has over 2X the population of Canada and yet lags behind). By giving interested, talented children the best resources, small countries can be extremely good in specific sports. But doing so requires convincing those who hold the purse strings (i.e. both governments and private organizations) that spending money on hockey development in their nation is worth it, that their teams are able to remain in the top division and as such, are not so far away from beating teams like Czechia or Switzerland (NB: Latvia took the Swiss to a shootout this time around, showing that they are probably able to hang around in the top division, meaning that whichever team loses in the Germany vs. Austria matchup will likely be relegated), or not being embarrassed by Canada or the USA.
