Canada vs. Sweden - 2023 World Juniors Highlights

- Connor Bedard picked up four assists for Canada in this one, and in doing so not only tied Eric Lindros on the Canadian all-time scorer list at the World Juniors, but he also tied Jaromir Jagr for most points by an under-18 player in a single tournament, as Canada bested Sweden on Bedard's historic night.
Bedard really out there just distributing the puck like the morning newspaper, hopefully he holds up in the NHL too. Seeing him take over the juniors like a magician definitely helps.
Bedard's vision is freaking mindblowing. That kid is way too good.

Congrats Canada from a Swede! Your team this year is a real beast! It seemed our guys really wasn't there from the start, but I doubt it would have helped. It will be fun to follow Bedard in the future.
I think they will be better prepared in the knockouts. It would be a tough job against that 6th man crowd too. But it's clear Canada and the USA have some real firepower...everyone can score.

Whenever someone asks me why I watch the world juniors, I say it's because when the old guys are in trouble they tend to slow the game down but when the young guys are in trouble they just seem to find an extra gear. It makes for really entertaining hockey!!! 🤯😅
Passionate hockey 🏒. Sometimes when watching the pros it seems like it's more of a job than a passion.

Congratulations Canada from a Swede. Seems like our guys were painfully unprepared for the ferocity of a Canadian hockey backed up by a roaring crowd.
Did you notice how Candaian fans cheered for Sweden for their other games? I love watching Sweden play. A home town crowd is like another line for the team though.

Was a good game. Maybe get us next time right? Never know lol. Cheers from a Canada fan
I'll tell yah tho, I hated that our player took that kneeing call, a dirty play. I saw it in the moment, I told my mom "if I saw it in the moment, I can't argue with a match penalty". I play the game hard but fair personally. What a dangerous play 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️

just a great game for Canada. just textbook hockey. this years team is crazy impressive.
I wouldn't say "textbook hockey". They were on their heels quite a bit in the 2nd period. A bit of luck and some good goal-tending saved their Canadian bacon.

The level of this Canadian team is incredible.Wonderful! 👏👏👏
Sweden looked uncomfortable playing there I’ve never seen a team bobble and fumble so many pucks
We looked completely intimidated. Carlsson was our only player who played with poise. Really sad to watch
Apparently you didn´t see the other Sweden games , it´s like a joke at times to watch this team.
I feel like because the majority that watch this channel are Canadian we are ignoring how absolutely nasty that goal was from the Swedish defenceman, Thats one of the best range wrist shots I've seen
This is what you took from that game?... A somewhat lucky, seeing eye shot from the point that found its way thru, during a 5 minute pp, that otherwise was very pedestrian?... You call that, 'nasty?' ...Holy, 'Political Correctness' Batman???
Newsflash: Nasty was when our boys finished a fast breakout, with a perfect cross ice pass, for a backdoor, empty net goal, giving the Swede goalie, absolutely no chance...And that's just one example... Our boys scored 4 goals, in one game, far 'NASTIER' than anything Sweden has likely done, in the tourney, thus far...
@@berryscott3590 the boys played amazing and had some incredible plays of there own, and I obviously cheer for them but if you can't admit that that shot was insane your pretty dumb and ignorant. I'm not gonna be another comment about Connor Bedard, yea he's nasty aswell, biggest talent since McDavid to be a prospect, but I just wanted to admit that that shot was fuckin awesome. We literally have home ice advantage every single game
No shit🤔
Not every tournament tho
There's a designated "Home" and "Away" for every game in the IIHF that gives you uniform choice if you're talking about the announcer mentioning it

yeah Imo I think the rule should be if a player is hurt on a play and isn't getting up (10-20 seconds I would say) the refs should blow the whistle and stop play to help the injured player (Im a Canadian btw). It's not fair to the opposing team esp when its defense to suddenly be down a man because a player's hurt and can't get off the ice.
Wow...hats off to the boys up North I guess
Man the knee-on-knee looked brutal
I'm glad they called it. It has no place in the game and I think it's a great rule for it to be a game misconduct.

Magic.. I can hear again.
Bedard feels like if Gretzky was playing now. He's not going to be as dominant on account of the average player nowadays being so good, but the hockey IQ is nearly identical.
Average player is a relative term at any given moment, relative to the decade or time period when the game is played. Gretzky's talent at the time was on a whole other level. Bedard could be a generational player, but Gretzky was a once in a lifetime player. Watching him from the stands in his rookie year for Edmonton was like seeing an airplane break the sound barrier for the very first time and go supersonic.
Bullshit about players being better. Bedard is a faster skater than Gretzky etc etc

Toca, Carnage
Darude - Sandstorm
What song are the fans singing in the end?
Heave Away, The fables
Man, I wonder which lucky nhl team will get the Bedard winning lotto ticket.
Unfortunately for Bedard or not, it will probably be the one with the worst record in the NHL, which has an 18.5% chance to win first pick compared to the best team with a 1.0% chance. He's probably feeling the same like Victor Wembanyama for the upcoming NBA draft, wondering which tanking team will get him.
Anyone know the pregame song?
Canada looked amazing. If they bring their A game to the quarters and beyond, they'll win Gold for sure. The USA is the only team that poses a challenge at this point. Canada will beat Finns or CZE or Sweden in the medal round with relative ease. I think they'll still beat USA, but it'll be harder.
Really miss Russia in this tournament. Them against Canada is always awesome to see.

Great game, wish sweden had a little bit better finishes. they seemed to pick up phase in the 2nd period.
Anyone know why they use the bruins goal horn?
That’s just the arenas goal horn, they only got one, the junior team that plays there the moose heads use it too. And yes it’s the bruins goal horn it was the inspiration. Couldn’t tell you why but ever since I was little in the 90s it’s that horn
Swedes need to be friskier. Hear me out, the only thing that matters for Swedes and the Swedish players is winning. It has always been like that except during the USSR steroid dominance between 1960-1986 (then Sweden won 1987 WC). We have high expectations, especially considering hockey gets relatively more attention & support in Sweden (vs other sports). Those may appear like lofty goals perhaps considering Sweden is only ~3rd in the all-time medal tables for the WC and Olympics combined (?). We generate and deliver most NHL players except Canada/US of all countries in the world, but we are still far off. Potentially because our population is so small: Sweden needs to become friskier and start generating more babies!

Canada will destroy Slovakia. They will smash them like bugs.
So does every other team haha
Don't know if Canada is just that superior to us, Sweden, or if we are that crappy :D . I guess it's a combo.
This is how they need to play every game from here on out....minus the absolutely terrible penalties they took in the 2nd...those will eventually bite them. I truly believe that game against the Czechs they just underestimated thier opponents and were caught off guard....a bit cocky maybe. The teams they face now won't lay down..they will battle every minute.
That game against Czechia was a wake up call for them. They're really starting to click now, just need certain players to be more disciplined
With all due respect to Sweden and their players.. Am I the only one to think that someone in this tournament made this game a lot more interesting by giving Canada a "handicap" of sorts?
Let me explain. Sweden had maybe 6shots on the 5v5 all game. There were never a sequence of 120seconds in this game when a Canadian wasn't hooked/tripped/held (it's not that tithe Swedes were trying to be mean; they were just late on the puck battle) nothing got called. Canada, despite having 5times more shots 5v5 and 8times more puck possession 5v5(which makes it less likely to actually receive a penalty normally) had every little thing called against them.
I'm not trying to minimize Sweden's effort, but it's bizarre that this game didn't go in the double digits for Canada
😂
L take. Canada are just stupid good this year and there isn’t as much depth in the Swedish team. Don’t let it get to your Canadian hockey ego, Canada have lost and will lose again, a handicap won’t be needed for that.
Best joke I've heard all year😂💀
@wille P Canadians don't care about the event as much as Europe. It was actually the first game I watched from Canada. And I watched one from Russia the other night. I just found it very, very weird that the team with the insane %puck possession got a lot more pk time. That does not happen in hockey. And the opportunities to send the Swedes to the bench were very, very numerous. The knee was a good call though I hated that move. The minor penalties...calls/missed calls weren't as good
@@hoozoohleague8264 yeah you do stop talking shit.. every time it's this "we don't really care" bullshit, well look who's in the audience cheering and booing - not the europeans
