  • Connor Bedard picked up four assists for Canada in this one, and in doing so not only tied Eric Lindros on the Canadian all-time scorer list at the World Juniors, but he also tied Jaromir Jagr for most points by an under-18 player in a single tournament, as Canada bested Sweden on Bedard's historic night.

It's not fair to the opposing team esp when its defense to suddenly be down a man because a player's hurt and can't get off the ice.

Swedes need to be friskier. Hear me out, the only thing that matters for Swedes and the Swedish players is winning. It has always been like that except during the USSR steroid dominance between 1960-1986 (then Sweden won 1987 WC). We have high expectations, especially considering hockey gets relatively more attention & support in Sweden (vs other sports). Those may appear like lofty goals perhaps considering Sweden is only ~3rd in the all-time medal tables for the WC and Olympics combined (?). We generate and deliver most NHL players except Canada/US of all countries in the world, but we are still far off. Potentially because our population is so small: Sweden needs to become friskier and start generating more babies!
    Rk Nationality Players
    1 Canada 42.2%
    2 United States 27.2%
    3 Sweden 10.6%
    4 Russia 6.0%

With all due respect to Sweden and their players.. Am I the only one to think that someone in this tournament made this game a lot more interesting by giving Canada a "handicap" of sorts?
Let me explain. Sweden had maybe 6shots on the 5v5 all game. There were never a sequence of 120seconds in this game when a Canadian wasn't hooked/tripped/held (it's not that tithe Swedes were trying to be mean; they were just late on the puck battle) nothing got called. Canada, despite having 5times more shots 5v5 and 8times more puck possession 5v5(which makes it less likely to actually receive a penalty normally) had every little thing called against them.
I'm not trying to minimize Sweden's effort, but it's bizarre that this game didn't go in the double digits for Canada
