I have always worked in hand. Admittedly it can be difficult with larger projects but I have never got on with hoops/frames. I have also worried about them ruining completed stitches so it was interesting to hear you have never had a problem with that. Perhaps I should try the q snap system...
Working on a project that has a lot of width and using an 8inch qsnap and for excess fabric, I’ve just been rolling it up and using binder clips to hold them. It’s been working pretty well! It’s my first time using a qsnap as well and i love it!
I always lay the frame on ‘top’ of the fabric so that in holding the frame, my hands are not touching the fabric front. I also find that this way I am having the fabric and frame will make a ‘well’ where I can put my splinter tweezers (used for pulling out animal fiber) and scissors inside the well for immediate use if needed. Try it, you might find it easier.
I stitch in hand but ONLY because I can't find a way to comfortable hold my q snaps (I also have quite a few in quite a few sizes) I don't really want a floor or table stand. I'd like to find a good under the leg lap stand that would reliably hold a q snap. Could you do a video as to how you comfortable hold the snap and work on your project?
This device was a game-changer for me at age 70ish……still light enough to hold….and I saw a couple videos back where You added the fabric on the sides…..that too made so much sense visually to me…..my question is “can you leave the project in for some time……or do You find it stretches the fabric…..I ask for my hands are not as young as they used to be…….great presentation
I keep my fabric (almost always aida) in them indefinitely. If the clamps aren't covering stitches, I don't worry about it at all and so far I haven't had any problems.
Thanks for this video. Just commenting as I saw you were doing the Dimensions "European Bistro" cross stitch and I am currently doing it myself. Hope you enjoyed doing it. Did you like the finished piece?
Q snaps help keep edges clean, but I prefer a frame that keeps both hands free. I have a problem with my left thumb from holding frames, this is permanent damage.
I did needlepoint before cross stitch & already had some frames/stretcher bars so used them for x-st. My usual projects were small & the fames did fine... But i wanted to try some larger projects & thought wood would be too heavy & did not want to get a large stand. Got a 17x17 Qsnap & really like it. Nice & light. My only complaint is that the cover snap bars are way too tight. I have a lot of trouble snapping them on & off. Heard that they loosen up over time so not worried.
This is great! You should check out Needle Ninja and how she fits her huge projects on to the 11x 11 Q snap. Love your basting idea for smaller projects 🥰
Hi Michelle, I have a question. I have a couple of q snaps, but I’ve never been able to use them because I cannot get the fabric in straight. I can lay it over the frame straight, but once I put those sides on, the weave gets wonky. Like there are no true straight lines. And it gets worse when I turn the snaps to tighten the tension. Do you have any tips or tricks for that? Thanks!
@@romantictangle Both, but the Aida isn’t the very stiff kind. It’s been hand dyed and is very soft. Of course the linen is much worse as far as getting it to sit correctly in the Q-snap.
Folding the edge is brilliant. I just fixed my project like that and I love it even more!

I mostly work with scroll frames, but on occasion I will use Q-Snaps and clamp them on to my Edmunds universal stand. Great video!!

I definitely need to try the binder clips for one of my larger projects. Thanks for the tip!
I love them too, but I’m learning to enjoy some stitching in hand.

Love your channel. Have found lots of helpful tips. May try the Q snaps.
The most realistic review i've seen abt q snaps 😊
Thanks, luv it!💜

Thank you
I almost always use Q-Snaps but it can take me forever to get the fabric in so it’s not skewed too badly. Any tips for that?

I just transferred from hoops to q snaps for my embroidery and it works great. Side note q snaps do not work well for punch needle.

They'll definitely loosen up over time.
Thanks

Are you using linen or aida?
