Just got this lens for $175 and I’m pumped! It’s sharp as fuck, it’s wide as hell, it’s great! I got it on my EOS R, now I gotta try it for Astro. I got a 16-35 as well but 175 was just too cheap to say no to. I don’t regret it!
This lens came up for a great price on eBay and, after watching your review, it was a no brainer to pull the trigger. I've got it on my Sony a7 IV with an LM-EA9 autofocus adapter and, even including the cost of the adapter, it's the best value and best performing now-autofocus fisheye out there. And thanks for the Fisheye Hemi tip!
Hello, I just purchased this Rokinon 12mm. I am using a 6D Mark II. This lense wide open has not been sharp at all in my test images. Granted, low light situation but your underground shots look much sharper than my tests. Ive adjusted the focus and f/stop etc. Nothing seems to change with my image in the viewfinder. Though when i use another lens, crisp clear images
Nice review. I purchased the Rokinon f2.8 12mm for my Nikon D750. It is a great lens. Just heading out to do a shoot with it right now. By the way, LIghtroom has a lens Rokinon 12mm profile that takes out the fisheye distortion.
I have the same lens for Canon, but the de-fish profile for it in lightroom SUCKS! I'm going to try fisheye hemi and see how it does. I purchased the lens for night sky photography.
Awesome video! Would you please tell me what kind of equipment/technique you used at 3:31 to pivot the camera in the kitchen? Thanks for posting this convincing gear video.
Interesting review. I have the Rokinon 14mm Rectilinear as well but eliminated the mustache distortion by loading a custom lens profile for it in Lightroom. Results are great for stills but can't do anything to fix it in video... Not sure if this new fisheye is worth it when the Sigma is only a couple hundred more and has Autofocus with full exif data.
Pheonominal video! Thanks for the indepth review and share. Definitely gonna be picking up a Rokinon fisheye seeing how much fun you guys have been having with it! I'm curious to know if anyone out there has had a chance to mess with the Rokinon 8mm Fisheye T3.1/F2.8 vs the 12mm? If not, what would be your guess on it? You think the 8mm fisheye could be better? Or the 12mm fisheye is best?
Hello! I'm curious as to specifically which de-fisheye app you used? I'm in the new Photoshop and I don't see anything internal within the program. Thank you! I'm using the Samyang 12mm/2.8 full frame on my Sony a7, and so far so good. Nice lightweight setup. :)
thank you this amazing video. exactly what i was lokking for. Could you do a video on the "defishing" correcting in Photoshop? Would be very very nice

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce these clean de-fishing with Fisheye-Hemi. It holds back in the edges, but introduces other distortions for me. Maybe, because Fisheye-Hemi applies the same mapping to every lens. Meanwhile Lightroom uses up to 3 support points in order to linearize the image. So I was wondering, how you came to that good result.
I am new in photography. I've just bought sony a6000 and thinking of getting rokinon 12 mm. f2.0 but I wonder if it has the fisheye feature? I really liked the fisheye feature of this lens but can I use it on sony a6000? also do I need to do de-fishing to get a regular wide angle photo in this one?
Great video!! I was planning to purchase the Nikkor Fisheye 10.5mm but it's quite expensive… this Rokinon seems a great cheaper alternative! But I have a Nikon D5200 (DX smaller cropped sensor), will I still be able to use this Rokinon lens? Many thanks again! PS: Just noticed lots of people are asking the same question!
Tito I've owned both lenses. The 12mm is better on full frame, but on a DX sensor the 10.5mm gives you a full fisheye view. The 12mm will look wide, but you'll only get a crop of the center since it's designed for FX. Go for the DX 10.5mm, it's a nice lens.
I am also looking for an aswer to that question. I guess 12 mm f.28 for full body is equivalent of 18 mm for crop body. In that case should I get an 8mm fisheye?
Kiên Nguyễn I've got fisheye lenses and the gopro hero4 silver, I'd say go for the gopro, everything is always in focus and it's insanely sharp, as well as compact and indestructible. You can do much more with a gopro in every situation except getting bokeh, so your decision should also be based on what you're gonna be shooting.
Daniel Burgess thank you. I just got this fisheye 12mm from samyang for my 6d and I would say it really really wide like crazy, very sharp also at wide open. But I'll also try the gopro because I want to have a camera that could stay in my pocket everywhere. And the 4k capability too.
This lens (Rokinon 12mm f/2.0) is for a real quality camera with APS or MFT sensor and you talking to buy a toy like GoPro with a 1/2.3 little sensor?! It seems crazy! WTF!...

What was that post edit to correct fisheye in photoshop? Its build in program or some plugin? Great review, thanks!
Hi ! Can this lens work in a panasonic g7 ?
Hello. Thank you for your awesome review. It totally made me decide for 12mm fish, while after many other reviews, I didn´t know.

How do I de-fisheye video taken with this lens on a 6D?

Can you make a video on how you de-fish your fisheye?? Pleasee

I just order this, also gonna order the nikon d7200. It's gonna be sick
This lens would be unbelievably awesome to use with a D810 or super high-MP camera for landscapes. Great editing on these shots!

Wicked awesome review, man. good job
Can you run fisheye hemi directly in lightroom?
How is the focus distance scale markings on the lens . Is it accurate?
Tq sir I have Nikon D750 Iwant fisheye lens which is the best Pls choose me.

Excellent review
is this manual or auto on Nikon d810?

Very useful! Thank you guy!
The only issue I see with this lens is the manual focus, I have the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 and not much like it!
Really helpful review.... Thank you very much
is there a12mm for canon crop that is not a fish eye? tnx!
6 years later, sorry about that. There is a Rokinon 8mm for Apsc sensor. Tokina makes a 11-16mm for crop sensors as well.
does it for full frame sony E-mount ?

I'm thinking of buying a gopro hero 4 black instead of this for my 6d.

+Kiên Nguyễn ok I will get this too based on what you said.

how do you defish this lens?
lol
why would you buy such a wide lens for "defishing" it?
Lightroom has a de-fishing tool preset for this lens
Can you use this lens on a crop sensor camera such as the d3300?
Works fine on my t3i as well as my 6D.
EF Lens?
Awesome Video!
Looks like a great lens!
That's a new word I just made up. Distorty.. haha gotta love this guy!
Thank you for this sir!
it will work on canon 6dmark ii
I have 6 lenses and this is my favourite and it was the cheapest
Thanks a lot!
You sold me, thanks.
It's ultrawide lens, not a fisheye. 8mm is fisheye
what an annoying video. First 4 minutes is nothing. Do yourself a favor and jump ahead to the 4:01 mark. Enjoyed the video after 401
