This was from Mariah's third album. She has ALWAYS been AMAZING as an all-around performer. Her stage presence has always been great and she was always a sweetheart; such a dichotomy with her. She quit being quite as humble after a while but she's still an amazing person, no question.

@@Liam_Peacock Yes, but not AS humble as she was in 1989. I was there, I remember a very sweet 19-year-old kid who hit it big and literally had no idea what to do with sudden fame.
Loved your reaction. What a legendary Queen. Her enitre discography is unmatched. Who else can say that they have #19 No 1. Hits on the Billboard Hot 100 (the most by any solo artist in music history) & wrote 18 of them! Only Mariah 👑💖
Mariah actually was writing this song to give it to another artist as a soundtrack to a movie but her husband at that time convinced her to keep it to herself as it has potential. Thank God she did as it became a hit and went #1 on the charts. Aside from that, it also saved some people, her fans have been coming up to her and telling her how this song saved their lives, some even had the lyrics tattooed. Until now, Mariah says she will always perform this song in every tour, concert because who knows, someone might be having a hard time. She also sings this at the end to conclude her concert.
Also, Mariah has so many inspirational songs like Hero. Cant Take That Away, When You Believe, Fly Like A Bird, Heavenly, 100%

In 2019 I battled stage 4 lymphoma cancer stage 4 sarcoma bone cancer at the same time. my chemotherapy was for 24 hours five days straight with only the weekends off there were some days I was up for 48 hours without sleep. Because of the severe the cancers were I had to have nine surgeries and eight procedures in total I had to learn how to walk again my colon ruptured. All while also fighting being HIV positive all that happened from February 1st 2019 until the end of October 2019. The doctor told my mom that they were about to get my hospice room ready because there is no way I can make it this song was one of the songs that I would listen to to help gain the strength to fight it never give up. And I’m still here living an active healthy life ❣️❣️ to all my cancer Survivors and the ones going through cancer still never give up because there is hope

Believe it or not, I can tell you from years of experience that this was an off day for Mariah’s vocals.
Keep digging. This was, despite the vocal difficulty, a cakewalk for what she can do.

She has much better performances than this one, with Tokyo dome as an example. Regardless, she's the queen of music and vocals. Best vocalist of all time, and her songs continue to inspire every day
