Yuzuru Hanyu, the top figure skater in the world, who I’ve always thought Yuri resembled extremely, looks up to Evangi Plushenko as his idol since he was a kid and he has beaten all of Evangi’s world records. Much like Yuri beating Victor’s free program with an extremely similar score to Yuzuru’s world record of 223. Crazy resemblance

I think the resemblance between Viktor and Cameron Mitchell is pretty obvious. Plus, the man is on his fifties and he still looks stunning. Viktor is an animation, so of course they don't look the same. But it's not just a look alike, Kubo sensei said he was inspired by John Cameron Mitchell since sje loved his rol and presence in Hedwig and the angry inch.
It's not that unusual for a skater to choose their own music, or even use music composed by a friend. Denis Ten is an example of this. It may be rare, but it does happen on occasion.
