That reminds me of when I was at an ice cream parlour in like 2016 and saw that “Love Me Again” by John Newman was up next on the screen, one of my favourite songs at the time (and probably still is up there tbh)… only for an employee to change it to some boring Led Zeppelin concert jam, and I’ve been biased against Zeppelin since 🫣

I like the fact that you include alternative/rock songs on your lists. Just because an artist isn’t usually played on a top 40 station doesn’t mean that they aren’t produced/created professionally or that their music is free of criticism.

I was going to say that. This is so true. A majority of Gen Z does not care about rock music from back in the day. I'm Gen Z and I'm very critical of everyone.
@@tanything26 i believe in separating the art from the artist. I agree, Gene Simmons is a complete douchepants but you can't deny Kiss' impact on the music world
Well everyone pray for Jon cause something tells he’s gonna piss off certain fan bases (you know who…) that are going to come after him with pitchforks and torches for talking smack about their favorite artist. And he’s gonna fight them off like he’s Jon Snow going up against that army in Game of Thrones 😂
I remember saying in a previous Worst Of list of yours that I'd take the worst songs of any year you've covered over MAGA-themed music...and that stance hasn't changed. Guys like Tom Macdonald are so terrible that calling their music bad is an insult to bad music.
About the ADTR one: they actually did initially bounce back from You're Welcome with a huge banger, Miracle. It's got a solid riff, a big chorus, and TWO breakdowns, so a lot of people were hoping they were coming back around. Of course, Feedback killed all that hype soon after
I get why you'd say that, but FIR not making the list was a complete accident/oversight. Originally I was gonna do a Top 25, cut it to 20, somehow "Bad Guy" by FIR got lost in the shuffle :(
the funny thing about comparing JoJo Siwa to Miley Cyrus is that "Karma" was intended to be a Miley song, but she was still under Disney control at the time, and they told her "absolutely not".
I would rather listen to Tom McDonald over Sepultura's Against, Morbid Angel's Illud Divinum Insanus, Six Feet Under's Nightmares of the Decomposed and Graveyard Classics albums, Van Halen's Van Halen III, Motley Crue's Generation Swine, and The Beach Boys' Summer In Paradise. All of these albums from these legendary bands (half legendary for Six Feet Under) are terrible. There are other terrible albums from legendary bands I forgot to mention like Fall Out Boy. Listening to Tom McDonald over Metallica's St Anger and Celtic Frost's Cold Lake is a stretch. Sure, Cold Lake is when Celtic Frost went glam metal, but I wouldn't say it's the worst album, not as much as the other albums I mentioned. St Anger is bad, sure, but again it's not as bad as those albums. That's just me though. Drake was fine for the first 3 albums. I do love Forever. That was really good. After Hotline Bling, I was wtf? He's not that cool anymore. Downhill from there. About the Tom McDonald comment, I was saying between him (his entire career) and the horrendous albums of these legendary bands, I'd rather listen to Tom McDonald in that case.
@ I don’t voluntarily listen to any of those albums, myself. I’ve never been able to stand Drake. I’d rather listen to a cat howling in my ear than be subjected to his voice.
My least favorite songs of 2024: (read from bottom to top pls :))) 1: iShowSpeed - Seven (some of the worst brazilian funk production ive ever heard. i cant stop re-listening to this just to analyze everything thats going wrong in this track, def deserving of the worst song of the year imo.) 2: Cash Cobain & J. Cole - Grippy (bro is pushing 40 talking bout some “Its… Its… Its… hmmm… Grippy!”) 3: Kai Wachi - Happier By Now (Codd Dubz Remix) [Congratulations to Codd Dubz for making the worst dubstep song of the year! This song literally made someone cry due to how vile it is.] 4: Katy Perry - IM HIS, HES MINE (this is why katy perry should stick as a host for american idol.) 5: ian - Figure It Out (cant stand this dude at all, thank god for 2hollis and yeat for making the white rapper scene somewhat manageable.) 6: Falling In Reverse - Ronald (Cant decipher a single word they say aside from Tech N9ne’s verse, but even he is just yapping.) 7: Drake - Housekeeping Knows (if guilty pleasure makes me uncomfortable, this song makes me curl into a ball and cry.) 8: Riot Ten & Zoinks - Elbows To The Dome (Actually laughable.) 9: Mario Judah - Today It Ends (I don’t want to pay this dude anymore attention but this is truly awful. Bro just screams the entire song while the bass sounds like an overly compressed washing machine.) 10: SweetTooth x Loxi - I FRIEND MY FRIEND KAM TO 17 DOGS (The forced rock sections + the terribly mixed drops create a recipe for disaster.) 11: VAMPA & Cromatik - Astral Projection (Probably the most boring song on this list.) 12: mgk & Trippie Redd - suddenly (If I heard this song through a depressive episode, it would make me feel even worse. This entire album just feels like they’re making fun of depression.) 13: El Alfa - Tacata (Remix) [I really want to see the reasons why people like this dude. His voice is just… ugly.) 14: Nicki Minaj - Big Foot (Sounds like she’s babying Megan throughout the entire song. Also shoutout to the minute long asmr outro) 15: Sullivan King & Vastive - Slaughter (Monstercat has really fallen off as a label. The mixing is so overblown on this song.) 16: Lil Mabu - OPPY DAY (Saw someone on soundcloud diss another user because “they aren’t listening to the lyrics.” What? The lyrics about killing his opps? Maybe YOU aren’t listening to the lyrics.) 17: Jojo Siwa - Guilty Pleasure (hearing this makes me uncomfortable) 18: KSI - Thick Of It (This song is perfectly hated in my opinion. Only time I ever find myself listening to this is through Deji’s reaction video.) 19: Blueface - Friday (the ep cover looks like the clip of dj akademik’s pc glitching) 20: Dawincy - SONIC.EXE (bro found his grandpa choking on his fake teeth and thought this would go hard on a brazilian funk beat with the gain turned up to maximum. Like what were they thinking???)
I was born blind. I still am. I’m listening to this video and have heard most of these songs all with my eyes closed and I can confirm to you that they suck a huge one.
As much as I normally love your videos... I love this one, too. You don't know how much I needed the laughs! I do have quibbles with one entry in particular. While "Texas Hold 'em" may not be the strongest track on "Cowboy Carter," it's hard to see Beyonce on the same worst list as Jojo Siwa and Tom MacDonald. Otherwise, everything else here belongs. WTF, Jon Bon Jovi? WTF, Cardi B? And OMFG, Kanye and Katy need to stop already. How much more flopping can they possibly give us? We got so much great music in 2024, and that's why it's so hard to listen to the bad stuff we got this year. We know Taylor Swift is capable of making good music. But my gawd, TTPD was... something else. I still have dreams/nightmares over the "Fortnight" and the title track, but "But Daddy I Love Him" is another one that's so strange. With that, I'll happily listen to the entire TTPD ultra-deluxe double album over anything from that crybaby rocker guy who cosplays as a tough guy yet throws temper tantrum whenever anyone gives any of his songs negative reviews.
This year was such a nothing burger in terms of the music scene, all the "viral" hits (AKA idiots fueling this ridiculous online culture war) barely charted anywhere and what we were left with was some of the most forgettable and inoffensive music that I doubt anyone will remember by the end of the decade.
I think the problem with the “Unpopular” by Skillet is that it reflects their views in such a non-subtle and unsophisticated way. There’s a way less on-the-nose way to say you’re a conservative band.
I still have yet to do a deep dive on 2024 music, but going off what I've heard so far, here's my top 5: 5. "A Tear In Space (Airlock)" by Glass Animals - The way each note on the synthesizer sounds like it's just coming in and out so abruptly sounds like ass, and completely ruins the whole space vibe they're going for 4. "Two-Faced" by Linkin Park - This song is basically a copy of "One Step Closer", and it just feels wrong. They even had Emily do scream basically the same thing in the bridge as Chester did on "One Step Closer", which was already not the greatest addition to the original song. 3. "Brand New Dance" by Eminem - This song has what might be the worst beat I've ever heard in my entire life. 2. "I LUV IT" by Camila Cabello featuring Playboi Carti - Both vocalists sound terrible and the chorus is not only unbelievably annoying, but sounds awkwardly taped on. It sounds like just a single recording of Camila saying "I love it" being copied and pasted over and over again. 1. "Come To Brazil" by The Offspring - Actually racist and one of the most distasteful things I've ever heard. Very disappointing that this band would stoop this low.
my top ten worst songs of 2024: 10. benson boone-beautiful things 9. ice spice-think u the shit (fart) 8. travis scott ft playboi carti-fe!n 7. nicki minaj-everybody 6. marshmallow ft kane brown-miles on it 5. tom macdonald ft ben shapiro-facts 4. katy perry-woman's world 3. drake ft yeat-IDGAF 2. paul russell-lil boo thang dishonorable mentions: sexyy redd ft drake-u my everything, camilla cabello ft playboi carti-i luv it, mgk ft jelly roll-lonely roll, j. cole-7 minute drill, chappelle ronan-hot to go and (controversial opinion (i think)) but djo-end of beginning 1. ¥$ ft rich the kid and playboi carti-carnival
The downfall of Glass Animals is genuinely so depressing, How to be a Human was such a good album but everything they’ve done since feels so watered down
I'm glad to say that I have only heard one of those songs. I thank you for putting yourself through this so I don't have to. More power to you and I hope you go from strength to strength.
Sooner or later, Katy Perry and/or Taylor Swift will be doing a duet with Skillet just to show that they're "activism" was always little more than performative, maybe mashing up both Skillet's and Taylor's White Horse songs to create an unholy abomination of a song that will be unpopular with even their fanbases. (Puns very much intended.)
The only one I personally disagree with is Texas Hold Em, I actually really enjoy that song but to each their own. I haven’t heard a lot of bad music this year as I tried to avoid them, from I’ve heard from the clips of most of these, yeah they sound like pure cringe. But Daddy I Love Him was definitely the worst song on TTPD. That Sexxy Red song is bad, but that ain’t the worst song Drake was involved with to me, Wah Gwan Deliah with him and Snowd4y was CRINGE! Makes Hey There Deliah look like a masterpiece. 😆
22:29 name one artist who is try hard Here’s a list of some of them Ye Playboi Carti Death Grips Tom MacDonald SZA Camila Cabello MGK Ken Carson Dax Ice Spice Dax HARDY Falling In Reverse Kim Petras
I used to really like Tom McDonald, his earlier stuff talking about addiction and mental health was powerful and relatable and his old spoken word stuff was thoughtful and well written but his radicalization over the last few years has been unfortunate and cringey and also… dude’s Canadian 😆
Skillet has been on here for YEARS now and every time they’ve deserved it!! Truly doing the Lords work, I’ll see you next year to comment this same comment again, all hail the Ouroboros.
This was such a great return to Year-End worst songs list Jon! The skits and commentary were so damn entertaining and outsid of a few songs I actually liked or never heard of before, I pretty much agree with every pick here! Great vid!
My problem with the song Unpopular by Skillet is that the intro melody of it sounds like it's a rip off of the intro melody from Lost In A Wave by the band LANDMVRKS.
You are so brave for publically saying this about Beyoncé. You should post something in her favor, quickly!! Beyoncé, he didn't mean it and would like to thank you for everything!
Honestly, if Thick of It had a different beat, different melody, diffrrent lyrics, different artist, different title, different feat, different music video and was shorter it would be tolerable.
My top 10 worst hit songs of 2024: 10. (controversial pick, Ik) APT by Bruno Mars and Rosé 9. But Daddy, I Love Him by Taylor Swift 8. Fried and Field Trip by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign 7. Thick of It by KSI 1. U My Everything by Sexxy Red ft. Drake
Then let me share a nugget of artv lore: Smosh are the reason I started a RUclips account, and later, why I started uploading videos. I did sketch comedy for YEARS before really getting into this channel, and Smosh (along with other comedy troupes like the lonely island) are probably the reason I still include skits to this day

um im sorry but i disagree with most of your list. Jack Harlow, Benson Boone, Colplay are all really good. Also FE!N wasn't released in 2024, or am I wrong?
hard disagree with your choice at 1 when there’s big foot by nicki minaj and songs from penith that top it as the worst
Every time I hear Sexxy Red the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...and not in a good way.
I first heard about sexxy redd from watching wwe nxt and that sza drake song liked her on rich baby daddy
The fact that JoJo Siwa is from Gen Z like me and has never heard of Gene Simmons and Kiss makes me embarrassed to be a part of this generation.
@NuMetalfan1996 she's 21, I looked it up. I'm 26, btw
Gene Simmons is one of the worst people in music, why would you want her to know him?
I was going to say that. This is so true. A majority of Gen Z does not care about rock music from back in the day. I'm Gen Z and I'm very critical of everyone.
@@tanything26 i believe in separating the art from the artist. I agree, Gene Simmons is a complete douchepants but you can't deny Kiss' impact on the music world
@@tvbnine793 the most Kiss has done for music is fun live shows, their music is just bland pop music at best
I can’t believe Big Foot wasn’t on here, even considering just the part where Nicki Minaj rants for another two minutes after the beat cuts off.
See it as a diss in that no one even considers it a song.
That HSN portion KILLED me 😂
Holy shit, this was worth the wait! I missed these! 😂
I remember saying in a previous Worst Of list of yours that I'd take the worst songs of any year you've covered over MAGA-themed music...and that stance hasn't changed.
Guys like Tom Macdonald are so terrible that calling their music bad is an insult to bad music.
I like Glass Animals but there last album was so forgettable and disappointing
Lmao the Mr Yeast Skit. 😅
About the ADTR one: they actually did initially bounce back from You're Welcome with a huge banger, Miracle. It's got a solid riff, a big chorus, and TWO breakdowns, so a lot of people were hoping they were coming back around.
Of course, Feedback killed all that hype soon after
TEXAS HOLD ‘EM was definitely not great, but it wasn’t so bad that it should’ve kept Falling In Reverse off the list
That's why I made the joke!
I love my country, and I will never understand how we produced both Tom McDonald and Drake. We’re doing something really wrong.
I look forward to your "Worst Songs Video" every year ❤
Same.
My least favorite songs of 2024: (read from bottom to top pls :)))
1: iShowSpeed - Seven (some of the worst brazilian funk production ive ever heard. i cant stop re-listening to this just to analyze everything thats going wrong in this track, def deserving of the worst song of the year imo.)
2: Cash Cobain & J. Cole - Grippy (bro is pushing 40 talking bout some “Its… Its… Its… hmmm… Grippy!”)
3: Kai Wachi - Happier By Now (Codd Dubz Remix) [Congratulations to Codd Dubz for making the worst dubstep song of the year! This song literally made someone cry due to how vile it is.]
4: Katy Perry - IM HIS, HES MINE (this is why katy perry should stick as a host for american idol.)
5: ian - Figure It Out (cant stand this dude at all, thank god for 2hollis and yeat for making the white rapper scene somewhat manageable.)
6: Falling In Reverse - Ronald (Cant decipher a single word they say aside from Tech N9ne’s verse, but even he is just yapping.)
7: Drake - Housekeeping Knows (if guilty pleasure makes me uncomfortable, this song makes me curl into a ball and cry.)
8: Riot Ten & Zoinks - Elbows To The Dome (Actually laughable.)
9: Mario Judah - Today It Ends (I don’t want to pay this dude anymore attention but this is truly awful. Bro just screams the entire song while the bass sounds like an overly compressed washing machine.)
10: SweetTooth x Loxi - I FRIEND MY FRIEND KAM TO 17 DOGS (The forced rock sections + the terribly mixed drops create a recipe for disaster.)
11: VAMPA & Cromatik - Astral Projection (Probably the most boring song on this list.)
12: mgk & Trippie Redd - suddenly (If I heard this song through a depressive episode, it would make me feel even worse. This entire album just feels like they’re making fun of depression.)
13: El Alfa - Tacata (Remix) [I really want to see the reasons why people like this dude. His voice is just… ugly.)
14: Nicki Minaj - Big Foot (Sounds like she’s babying Megan throughout the entire song. Also shoutout to the minute long asmr outro)
15: Sullivan King & Vastive - Slaughter (Monstercat has really fallen off as a label. The mixing is so overblown on this song.)
16: Lil Mabu - OPPY DAY (Saw someone on soundcloud diss another user because “they aren’t listening to the lyrics.” What? The lyrics about killing his opps? Maybe YOU aren’t listening to the lyrics.)
17: Jojo Siwa - Guilty Pleasure (hearing this makes me uncomfortable)
18: KSI - Thick Of It (This song is perfectly hated in my opinion. Only time I ever find myself listening to this is through Deji’s reaction video.)
19: Blueface - Friday (the ep cover looks like the clip of dj akademik’s pc glitching)
20: Dawincy - SONIC.EXE (bro found his grandpa choking on his fake teeth and thought this would go hard on a brazilian funk beat with the gain turned up to maximum. Like what were they thinking???)
Ronald Survived This Time
Not much longer tho 👿
Hard to believe that Ronnie Radke and Jelly Roll wild west shit managed to stay off this list lmao
I was born blind. I still am. I’m listening to this video and have heard most of these songs all with my eyes closed and I can confirm to you that they suck a huge one.
I’d ask why a Canadian rapper is so hard up on American right wing politics, but sheep keep on throwing money at their echo chamber.
I CAN FIX HIM /s
The skits and edit are top notch! Your year end videos are always fun to watch. Great job Jon and Hannah 😄
Thanks Kay!
You really kept us in the dark last year! Glad to see these worst of the year lists back Jon.
This year was such a nothing burger in terms of the music scene, all the "viral" hits (AKA idiots fueling this ridiculous online culture war) barely charted anywhere and what we were left with was some of the most forgettable and inoffensive music that I doubt anyone will remember by the end of the decade.
Omg wasn't expecting the oldskool Smosh reference haha
I remember what Crash said on that one coliseum about how Hardy is “we have Kid Rock at home” and I couldn’t have said it better myself
I hope Kami Kehoe at least get’s an honorable mention somewhere in the “best of” series. She is so talented and absolutely killing it right now.
Did you know that before Jon Bon Jovi, people had to Bon Jovi their Jons by hand?
The production on your end of year lists is so good. We don’t deserve you, Jon. 🎉
I’m guessing Falling in Reverse and Hardy will each have a song on here as well as Motley Crue’s Beastie Boys cover
Getting home from college for winter break just in time for the newest ARTV video? Life is good.
Katy sounds so bored on Woman’s World. Talk about a fall from grace indeed.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: no combination of Canadian, half-Jewish, half-Black, rapper has ever or will ever make sense.
After a year of drought he came back!!
I’m surprised Falling in Reverse didn’t make it on the list
It was an accident 💀 keep your eyes peeled for the worst album video next week
I think the problem with the “Unpopular” by Skillet is that it reflects their views in such a non-subtle and unsophisticated way. There’s a way less on-the-nose way to say you’re a conservative band.
BUT HOW ELSE WILL THEY KNOW?! /s
As a blind person, the skit you did before eyes closed by Imagine Dragons was absolutely hilarious.
How about Ice Spice Think U The Shit (Fart) as an honorable mention
Jojo Siwa better be careful, Gene Simmons just might sue her. Just ask King Diamond lol.
I was just thinking about how much I missed these Worst Songs videos!! Thank you so much for making my day!!
🙏🖤
I still have yet to do a deep dive on 2024 music, but going off what I've heard so far, here's my top 5:
5. "A Tear In Space (Airlock)" by Glass Animals - The way each note on the synthesizer sounds like it's just coming in and out so abruptly sounds like ass, and completely ruins the whole space vibe they're going for
@@PurplexingLycan653 Song of year worst 2024
1. nicki minaj bigfoot
2. j Cole grippy cash Cobain
3. I LUV IT Camila Cabello, Playboi Carti
4. Coldplay feelslikeimfallinginlove
5. Imagine Dragons eyes closed
6. katy perry wonder
7. red sexy drake you my Everything
8. jojo siwa karma
9. g-eazy nada
Just gave “Come To Brazil” a listen and boy I wish I hadn’t…it’s quite impressive how racist yet obnoxiously lazy the writing of that song was
my top ten worst songs of 2024:
10. benson boone-beautiful things
9. ice spice-think u the shit (fart)
8. travis scott ft playboi carti-fe!n
7. nicki minaj-everybody
6. marshmallow ft kane brown-miles on it
5. tom macdonald ft ben shapiro-facts
4. katy perry-woman's world
3. drake ft yeat-IDGAF
2. paul russell-lil boo thang
dishonorable mentions: sexyy redd ft drake-u my everything, camilla cabello ft playboi carti-i luv it, mgk ft jelly roll-lonely roll, j. cole-7 minute drill, chappelle ronan-hot to go and (controversial opinion (i think)) but djo-end of beginning
1. ¥$ ft rich the kid and playboi carti-carnival
Linkin park new album was bad
Agree. We’ll talk about it on my worst albums list more
Highlight of the year, we're so back!!
22:29 name one artist who is try hard
Here’s a list of some of them
Ye
Playboi Carti
Death Grips
Tom MacDonald
SZA
Camila Cabello
MGK
Ken Carson
Dax
Ice Spice
Dax
HARDY
Falling In Reverse
Kim Petras
I used to really like Tom McDonald, his earlier stuff talking about addiction and mental health was powerful and relatable and his old spoken word stuff was thoughtful and well written but his radicalization over the last few years has been unfortunate and cringey and also… dude’s Canadian 😆
I'm relieved as hell that MacDonald has not broke out over here so I can avoid his songs without trying.
Skillet has been on here for YEARS now and every time they’ve deserved it!! Truly doing the Lords work, I’ll see you next year to comment this same comment again, all hail the Ouroboros.
hardy is the new kid rock minus him so far at least going on tv, and shooting himself in the foot with politics.
Zoologist and middle school science teacher. Thats awesome.
Aint no way the movie Zombieland is getting slandered like this 😭
17:54 MR. YEAST LMAOOO idk why the hell I found this so funny
Exactly right on Beyonce. Perfectly said. It was awful.
You are so brave for publically saying this about Beyoncé. You should post something in her favor, quickly!!
Beyoncé, he didn't mean it and would like to thank you for everything!
The best part of the year is back
Honestly, if Thick of It had a different beat, different melody, diffrrent lyrics, different artist, different title, different feat, different music video and was shorter it would be tolerable.
Me while watching this video: "I can't believe this collaboration was a thing in 2024"
Loving the skits!
My top 10 worst hit songs of 2024:
10. (controversial pick, Ik) APT by Bruno Mars and Rosé
9. But Daddy, I Love Him by Taylor Swift
8. Fried and Field Trip by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign
7. Woman's World by Katy Perry
6. Facts by Tom Macdonald ft. Ben Shapiro
5. Think U the Shit (Fart) by Ice Spice
4. I Luv It by Camila Cabello ft. Playboi Carti
3. Bigfoot by Nicki Minaj
2. Thick of It by KSI
1. U My Everything by Sexxy Red ft. Drake
APT isn’t very well-liked from what I’ve seen, and deservedly so, manufactured K-pop crossover with an irritating chorus
No, Apt is shit that absolutely flopped without Bruno. It wouldn't have even charted without him. This isn't a diss either, it's a factual statement.
Fueled by Ramen used to be so good, they gave us Fall Out Boy and Paramore, oh how the mighty have fallen (I believe they had All Time Low as well?]
didn't expect ARTV to drop a Smosh reference
Then let me share a nugget of artv lore: Smosh are the reason I started a RUclips account, and later, why I started uploading videos. I did sketch comedy for YEARS before really getting into this channel, and Smosh (along with other comedy troupes like the lonely island) are probably the reason I still include skits to this day
Falling In Reverse not included in this list means that this video may be ranted by Ronnie Radke if this were to happen.
My worst songs in no particular order would be a bar song by shaboosy, houdini by eminem, i had some help by post malone, beautiful things by benson boone, please please please by sabrina carpenter, apt by Rosie, fortnight by taylor swift, we can't be friends by ariana grande, million dollar baby by tommy Richman and womans world by katy perry.
Lol Tom MacDonald and 6ix9ine are the only two artists to have placed number one on two separate worst songs of the year list for all of their songs they released that year
I'll be honest, I'm a bit surprised that no Linkin Park song made your list or dishonorable mentions, considering just how much of a thrashing you gave to From Zero.
Adding one now
Yeah, the new stuff 100% deserves to be in the dishonorable mentions & in the worst album of the year list imo
The irony that Taylor is at 13 😭😭😭
