Excellent video! I have a 2008 Crown Vic LX and have been considering swapping out the 2:73 for a 3:27 Power-Trac. You answered alot of questions I had. Looks fairly simple for even a DIY like me.
I got rid of the open 2.73's in mine too. Picked up a posi and bought a used but like new set of OEM Ford 3.27 gears for $40 and did the swap, with all new bearings and seals of course. What a difference, especially with several people in the car is where I really noticed an acceleration difference. Also added a 1" addco 650 rear sway bar at the same time and that big boat handles and drives like a car half it's size now.
Im not gonna lie...Grand ma has been fun to drive with the new rear end. The handling is so much better. Thank you for your hard work babe! this was a good one
@@garymatthys3605 correct you have to change the gear ratio in the ecm but the abs/trac lights will come on till its changed it'll try to trigger the abs/trac 3 or 4 times then turn its self off at that point abs/trac is turned off lights will stay on brakes will work normal but no abs/trac

One thing I don't like about the C clips to hold the axle in, if you have ever been offroad in a jeep with a dana 35 rear, when they break an axle it comes right out. Never fun getting home.
There is lots of products out there. Some last better than others, but unfortunate the only thing that tends to be permanent is a torch. When you wave the flame lightly around the effected trim, it darkens it back to original. Its a fine art to not melt it.
I would have thought with 3.27s it would burn some tires? I have original 2.73s and still peels out a lil bit. My tires are also Michelin all weather's w about 80% tread
Oh it burns rubber, but you got to brake burn it! These cars are too heavy and underpowered to smokem right outta the gate! But a Marty tune is coming for this car. That will all change!
@@OldeCarrGuy ya I was looking into the marty. I called about 3.73 gears with posi using revolution gear brand it's guna run $1,300 at my local shop 🤦🏻♂️

Rpm didn't change at all compared to the old gears vs the new gears because the speedometer is off because it was set to the old gears nice work Jason great work on removal and install bet junior was a ton of help so you didn't have to strain to get it up there
You can, but you need to find an assembly from your era of car. Little things like the shock placement is different, maybe a couple other little thinks.
It is Limited Slip and the main reason for the swap. I picked mine up from a auto salvage yard. You have to ask for a locking rear axle assembly for the year car you have when you call the yard and they can cross it to several other vehicles. Keep in mind that when you change the gear ratio you change the accuracy of your speedometer.
Everything works as normal with the exception of the speedometer being off. This is the only thing that would need to be reprogrammed, but i'm not worried about it as it's not off by that much. I can live with it!.
Check out the Ultragauge II. It displays a lot of info, and will do what most hand held consumer scanners can do - www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/ Please no lift, and no excessively large diameter rims. 17's are best, and no more than 18's. My '08 with 3.27 gears does about 1760 RPM @ 60 MPH.
The swap was quite straight forward. The biggest thing to get used to after the fact is your speedometer will not be accurate by 10-12 km/hour or 7-10 mph! I didn’t bother with getting it recalibrated but I believe any Ford dealership can correct it!
This is the third time I've watched you try to use the 0-60 app on your phone. You do it wrong every time. You need to open the calendar app. Heart me daddy.

Hi, love the wheels. What model mustang has these n Any mods to fit them?
If your car is 03-11 there are no mods or spacers. Any model mustang wheels will work. I don’t know the model of these ones!
