I was very impressed that this thing just gives me the quick boost of speed whenever I need it even at the 147 mph. It didn’t feel like that at all! Also offers great handling, spacious, and vision too. It’s probably the best car at its price and some of different vehicles at a higher price point don’t offer the same feeling I get with the Soul. I’m really considering this as my next one, it’s just so fun!

I used to drive muscle cars and luxury performance vehicles. My minimum satisfying engine power was about 300 hp. I test-drove the '24 Kia GT-line, and I can't believe how excited I was by this little car, which only has 147 horses - the kind of power that used to be a non-starter for me. I also drove the 2.0 l, 200 hp Soul a couple of years ago, and that car had double the adrenaline rush factor. I will never understand why Kia shot themselves in the foot by stopping its production.

    • @carlosh7166

I agree I have a 2018 Kia Soul ! w/1.6 turbo at 201 hp and it's a complete blast to drive I so wish they kept that into today's models. Cause a lot of people see the box car and specs and don't give it a look when honestly it's a all around winner in my opinion. Sure it won't be that hot hatch or that throaty muscle car but it's not meant to be. It's meant to be practical and fun to drive which it is.

Kia and Hyundai has come a very long way with their vehicles .Much success to them and to the public. I have a 2018 Kia Soul and it's always unnerving to know that if I go visit my family in Houston that my vehicle can be stolen again. The only thing that helped us to get my vehicle back is that it had LoJack on it and GPS location. I agree, I own a 2023 GT-Line Limited (not sure if that’s only a Canadian trim level) and i think Kia removed some of the humour and whimsy the 1st and 2nd gens had. Like there are still the speaker lights but I think fewer than before and less noticeable. I really wanted a 2014 soul SX Luxury back when that generation was new. Almost got one back then but my parents decided to give me a hand-me-down explorer which was for the best. Better to get a soul a decade late than never!

I have a 2017 Kia Soul! Turbo, which I love. This is the only version of this car that I would consider as the base engine is underpowered. Kia has eliminated the Turbo engine so when my car dies, I'll be getting the Seltos, which I believe has the same engine that my current car has.

Fantastic thorough video on the Kia Soul GT. Best ever, thank you.
Been pondering whether to downsize from my Kia Sportage as I’m getting older, I don’t need all that room anymore or even so much hp anymore. The Kia Soul is such a zippy little car. One question though, with only 147hp does it struggle and is it slow on
    uphill ascent?

1st time Kia introduced Soul as Soulster 2009 .. the concept was so beautiful that I remember I was waiting to see it on streets someday.. but since then Kia is going backwards with Soul and making it uglier in every refresh.. I wish they could make the 2009 Soulster concept as commercial production .. the design was so futuristic that looks better than EVs look today

Drove one of these and I would heavily suggest saving up money to get a Civic hatchback instead unless you absolutely need extra height. The Civic has a more spacious trunk area, better feeling cabin and the interior in the Civic has a lot of room for both front and back passengers. But otherwise the Kia Soul is okay as long as you keep it strictly at low 20k.
