- This is what a cover is meant to look like! I am so impressed by this version! I'd have to say that this might be one of the best versions out there!
They don't autotune anything. The do record layers on some songs. It's just pure talent. And vocal gymnastics.
Nope. No auto tune. Just their angelic voices blending perfectly 🥰
Home Free sounds as good live as their recordings do. The true test of a capella. It's not easy.
Absolutely no auto tune. They even have said they refuse it. Their voices are perfect and strong enough to have no need for auto tune. Just saw them in concert - the same voices live - they sound great.
I've been a home fry since 2013 when they won the Sing-Off and although there is post production (of course), there is no autotune. These guys just sound this good. Thanks Chris! 🖤🍟
A Home Free hidden gem that you really should react to is Home Free at the Hosanna concert in 2013 singing their rendition of “Joy To the World “. It’s a jazzy arrangement, and Rob has the lead. He gets to cut loose, and he’s at his soulful best. There’s also a fabulous beatbox breakdown. This video really deserves more attention.
I've heard them sing this in person twice...this is exactly how they sing it....dude, they are just *THIS GOOD*
I'm jealous!
I'm doing a concert in Bloomington the afternoon of the 18th then driving like heck to make it to their Christmas concert that evening. My ninth time seeing them live. Hoping to catch Darren Rust and the Blenders next Friday (that may not happen).
No auto tune! Never, these men are professional vocalists !
Home Free does an amazing job at brilliantly simple--but still engaging--videos. Their 5-part harmonies are pure talent: no auto-tune required, as anyone who has seen them live can attest. (I highly recommend it!) Love when we get to hear Adam's sweet tenor join in❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️
Hearing them make classics their own is a gift that we get to enjoy all year round 😍
Nope, no autotune 🤣🤣, they don't need it, they are perfection. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Their primary source of income is live concerts, not record sales or RUclips, so everything they record has to be generally reproducible on stage live. That means no autotune. Ever.
They are just that good! They have a vocal talent beyond belief! Love your reaction
Home Free really doesn't need auto tune. Their vocal harmonies are pretty perfect and they have been working together for years, just perfecting everything and already knowing what to do and how to sing together. I have been to many of their concerts and they sing just as good as their videos. I'm sure in some videos there are tweeks like most other groups use. But they really are that good.
These guys are very talented singers that have sung together for many years and know each others voices so well that they can accomplish anything they want. I am not sure which Christmas music from Home Free that you have reacted to, but Please react to more.
No autotune, just absolute masterful vocal control and a group who knows how to arrange a song to showcase their voices to perfection.
They are extremely gifted vocal gymnasts. I don’t believe for a second that they autotune anything EVER. Pure amazing talent.
I have seen them live there is no autotune there harmonies are that tight.
Its crazy to see how far this band came. I grew up listening to them, probably as far back as 2010 with the original 5 members, Chris, Adam, Rob, Matt, and Tim. My mom went to school with Chris, Adam, and Matt, and I thought they were the coolest ever. Every Minnesota state fair, we would go watch, their free shows all over the state, and then they won the Sing Off, well deserved, and they exploded, and we still have not stopped. While it is sad to see Matt and Chris depart years later, man this band is still crazy good.
You are so lucky to know these guys 👍😍😉
No auto tune, they do this live, and it's even better, lol! They are just that great!!! ❤️ 🤗 It still amazes me, with everything they do!!! All of them! Yes, perfect!
They never use auto tune! They are just that good!
Simply incredible.
Absolutely no auto tune. They're just that good.
No auto tune from Home Free. I would love for you to react to "Children Go Where I Send Thee" Kenny Rogers asked Home Free to do this song with him. It fits in with the Christmas vibe and you will be amazed!!!
No auto tune. Just Pure Talent.
Home Free doesn’t use auto tune they only believe in true vocal nothing else
Joy to the world, home free style 🔥🔥 and its a live performance 🙌
They are so in touch with each other-blending and articulating. They create beautiful artwork through their music! Thx for a nice reaction.
Do You Hear What I Hear will give you chills. It’s just amazing!
He reacted to "Do You Hear What I Hear" last year. It's great!!
It blew him away. He also reacted to O Holy Night and gave it the rare standing ovation.
@@denise_landry Thanks! I'll have to look for it!
@@brendasorenson6186 Thanks! I'll have to look for both of them!
I think that they are great. Wonderful voices
How are you doing? Our family has been sick with this bug for over a week...
Love their beautiful voices as always, well done and no auto tuning at all. They are the best!
No autotune here! It is perfect and WITHOUT AUTOTUNE! They don't need autotune!!!
I love when Adam Rupp gets to sing. He gives it a different sound and feel. Always enjoy your reaction to their songs.
As you say: perfect!! The best thing about Home Free is the purity of all those angelic voices. Not too exaggerated, not too fussy etc. It doesn't matter where you put them, they always make something great out of it. It's all about the voices. One by one amazing.
Wow 😮 I have never heard Home Free. This was beautiful!
Sue, everything that they do is incredible. They are considered a Country Vocal Group, but they sing so many genre's and are now even making their own music. It is a GREAT rabbit hole to go down. Enjoy!
Sue, they have the richest harmonies on the planet. With nearly 200 videos and a half a billion views on RUclips, you are missing out. Everything they do is excellent!
I've been to 2 live concerts, no auto tune required! They perform the same way live! Can't wait for them to come to my area again😊
100 % their voices!! Xmas suggestions for you. Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer, Full of Cheer, What Christmas Means to Me, these songs are their goofy side. Serious songs, How Great Thou Art, What Child is This , Chris Rupp feat. Home Free, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem feat. Oak Ridge Boys ( very country) White Christmas ( country) , Winter Song, Kenny Roger featuring Home Free, Children Go Where I Send Thee. Have fun Chris!!!
Another Christmas suggestion is The Warmest Winter. Austin wrote it with some friends. It's about Christmas with his family and grandmother. He wrote it after his grandmother died. It's a lovely emotional song.
One suggestion for a Christmas song by Home Free is "Children Go Where I Send Thee" with the late Kenny Rogers. It's unusual in that it is a spiritual with a beat. Adam isn't the only one beat boxing in the song. Besides Kenny, leads are sung by Chris, Tim, Rob, and Austin. Kenny is great as always.
At the end is a bittersweet video of Kenny praising Home Free and telling how he learned of the group. It's bittersweet because Austin refers to Kenny as a legend and Kenny said calling him a legend makes him sound as if he was dead. Kenny is a humble professional during the song. He shares the limelight and blends his voice with Home Free in the background harmony without standing out. This video was made soon after they won The Sing Off.
Tim in an interview on another video told about the many disasters that happened to Home Free connected with the song. They were supposed to be on the Tonight Show singing the song with Kenny. After a series of unbelievable events involving mechanical failures of two planes from two different airlines and chartering a private plane (all of which they couldn't afford), the show cancelled their appearance. Unable to get a refund for the chartered plane, they went on to meet with Kenny behind the scenes of the show. He spent time with them and encouraged them with the advice that was better to build a career slowly for longevity.
Later the Home Fries volunteered to help to pay the thousands of dollars spent on plane tickets and chartering a private plane. Reluctantly the guys put up a Go Fund Me request at the behest of their fans. The Home Fries raised the money within hours. Somehow this Christmas song seems to have a Christmas story about meeting adversity and overcoming it by the goodness of other people.
No auto tune.Ive seen this sang live...and it sounds just like this! I hope they sing it when I see them on the 13th!.
Nice to have you back on Home Free Sir
I'll Be Home For Christmas is a good one to listen to also their collaboration with Alabama Christmas In Dixie
Went to their holiday show last December. Hopefully they will Livestream their Christmas at the Ryman again this year.
Precise recording in the studio. NO AUTO TUNE.
Compliments of the Season to you, Sir. With my thanks for the posts over the years.
The best group.
I second their version of White Christmas 😀. Thanks for bringing in the Christmas songs, 🎄.
If you need more suggestions for Christmas, I suggest something by Home Free’s sixth member, Darren Rust, and his group The Blenders. Their version of Hark,The Herald Angels Sing is awesome.
Don't recall who did the arrangement on this, but absolutely NO autotune. I'm sure there was some post production stuff, though. These guys are just that good.
Larry, your walking a slippery slope even mentioning auto tune . Remember this is Home Free we're talking about.
Merry Christmas, Larry.
That was so, so unnaturally unique. Don’t know how else to describe this traditional /uniquely your style, singing. So lost to adequately describe what I hear with this. I like it…I don’t like it…I love it…I hate it…so confused! Very different. I bet this was not easy for you.
Beautiful
Notice that Adam is singing and not beat boxing. I love that 5th voice whenever he sings. 🙂
You're wrong. (in my opinion-no inside info) I extremely doubt that they use autotune. They sound this good in a life performance. They may have had to retake a few times, so they have a fantastic final song, but I'll nearly guarantee it's just them. They are just that talented.
I would love for you to listen to another version of this that they recorded as a collaboration with Taylor Davis.
I'm pretty sure it'll blow your mind 🥰
They do not use autotune, just skill.
Love playing this, just for the simplicity of the arrangement and their voices , calming.
I love all their Christmas songs. And if you didn't do it last year, you need to check out Geoff Castellucci's version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. He reinvented the song and it is brilliant!
Loved it! Nice Christmas intro by the way.
Thanks!
Perfect start to December! So very beautiful! Thanks for the reaction Chris!
Hey Chris, good to see you again...of course, it is on me 🙃I hope that you and all of yours had a nice Thanksgiving and what an incredible song to come back to you on! I agree, everyone knows this and it make it their own, makes the song even more incredible. Home Free does that a lot! I had the opportunity to see them live for the first time at the end of October, and man, they are incredible. I do not believe any auto-tune was used, they harmonize that well. They started tonight, their "Christmas" part of the tour and maybe they will make it back out West, close to you...again. Looking for to this Christmas journey with you. Be safe, and a very early Merry Christmas to you. ❤
I think it's just the chord choices they made, plus there's a 5th vocal with Adam. I often imagine how their chords would sound on a piano and it would sound just like this. There may be some layering, but I'm still betting on the crazy tight chord structures. Gorgeous!
one of there best Christmas song from 2015 is Children go where I send Thee, Featuring the late ' great Kenny Rodgers. You'll love it .
I have a very special connection to this song, because it was written and first performed right around the corner of where I live (back in 1818). The church is no longer there, all that's left is a memorial chapel. But still, whenever I walk by that chapel I'm thinking to myself "what beautiful history was written here" (not only has it endured 2 centuries by now, it's also the most popular christmas song in the world). I didn't know Home Free's version of it prior to watching this reaction, but I had no doubts that they were going to nail it. And so they did ;-)
The variations you're hearing are very choral arrangement/hymn-based. Check out Chris Rupp (former Home Free member)'s solo channel. His arrangements follow that same hymn/choral singing pattern. Not autotuned! Those of us that were raised with this type of singing do it second nature!
Larry! I've noticed that you haven't reacted to Adam Rupp's Drum Solo. You've got to check this out. Home Free: Drum Solo [SPM ST15]. You won't be disappointed I'm sure. Great reactions.
I too love the way they use dissonance in their arrangements
Hi Larry. I recommend that you watch the HOME FREE video of Joy to the World at the Hosanna Concert. It’s not country. Aside, the guys already knew that they had won the sing-off when they did this but couldn’t tell anyone
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Larry
You as well, John!
These guys couldn't do half the stuff they do live if there was auto tune it is talent, taste and ability.
You should listen to their jazzy live version of Joy to the World.
Nope, they don't use (or need) auto-tune. That flat/sharp step is one of their trademarks, usually leading to a key change or segue into the chorus/breakdown. It's lovely and unique - no matter how often we hear them do it, the *when* is such beautiful antici.....pation!
No auto tune. It’s just the training and they been together so long. They sound this good live. Maybe you should search for a live version of this
I've heard them live 3 times and they sound pretty true to the recordings. I don't think it's autotune. They are my favorite group.
You did a few of my favorite Home Free Christmas carols last year. As we move further into the season, don't forget to go back and play them, too! 👍💕 🎶
My recommendations for pure joy this Christmas would be:
"I'll Be Home for Christmas" (a great video with military homecomings for the holidays. 💕)
"What Child Is This?" (the ONLY song with all 6 HF members - Chris AND Chance! It's amazing!)
"Away in a Manger"
"White Christmas" (I guarantee you've never heard it done like this! 😘)
"Cold Hard Cash" (a HF original from Austin and it's hilarious! 🤣)
"Children, Go Where I Send Thee" (great collaboration with Kenny Rogers. A great arrangement and Kenny still had it!)
"Winter Song" (not truly a Christmas song, but a Winter one! 😉 The harmonies are great and Chance & Austin shine.)
"Joy to the World" (from back in 2013 at the Rupps' church in Mankato, Minnesota. Gospel/jazzy Rob steps out for a rendition like you've never heard! 😳😍)
ENJOY the season with our favorite guys!
P.S.
Home Free refuses auto-tune. What you see/hear is what you get! They've sung off mic for audiences and are still spot on with those harmonies. 👍
Highly recommend if you get the chance to see and hear them live in concert!! Fortunate this December 6th that I get to do that in Salina, KS and they will be doing their Christmas tour. Looking forward to hearing them do Snow Globe and many other Christmas songs live. They are simply amazing live. Absolutely no drop off. Was able to take in their concert a year ago and was blown away!!! ❣
I could swear I heard a cathedral organ at some point. Their harmonies are so tight, they seem to create a sixth voice.
VERY well-said!
Please do White Christmas by Home Free. It's a very different version from the original. I think you will really like it
No auto tuned.
Note they own every cover they do to redefine the song being their spin and simply make it better everytime.
Santa Hat? Come on now!!! Hugs🤗
lol, Chris you should definitely get yourself a santa hat!! 🎅 and grow that beard a bit longer, and get yourself some reindeers, and santa sleigh, and break into our houses through chimney, and leave us some presents under the Christmas tree 🎄, and... umm... ok... I might went too far with that 🤔 but santa hat is a MUST!
Suggestions -Home Free "What Child is This" (some complex arranging)& "I'll be Home For Xmas. Also, Tim Foust- "Come Go With Me", great example of his vocal range.
what Child is This is an awesome song with Tim. I highly suggest this one
Hi Chris 🙂 I'm quite a newcomer to Home Free - thank you for introducing me to them, they are wonderful! This rendition is lovely, and I particularly enjoy all the unexpected little twists they add. I'm trying to work out which of the five (all stunning!) voices is my favourite. At the moment, the guy second from right is in the lead, but that may change as I listen to more of their tracks! 😉
If you're still thinking of checking out Boyce Avenue (as I suggested last week), you might want to consider adding their rendition of 'O Holy Night' to your Christmas list ... it's just gorgeous, in my humble and very biased opinion! I don't know if you like to have links to suggested videos, but if you do, here it is! (If not, apologies - just ignore it!)
ruclips.net/video/kijlpwvcb2g/видео.html
(I first posted this hours ago, but it doesn't seem to have saved - again, apologies if I've duplicated!)
Hve you already done their version of "White Christmas"? It was certainly not what I expected.
Yeah this is really dope, I don't think it's auto tuned though it's probably just the different voices merging together
Larry Larry Larry. It’s not safe to tell Home Fries that you think there may be auto tuning with HF. 😂✌️
lol, right?
NO Auto Tune!!!!!!!!!😡
Just Home Free!!!!
Not Auto tune!!! Just Austin being Austin
Nope. No auto tuned. Skill.
Look for a live version of the song on RUclips. I'm sure someone has posted one.
If u saw them live, I have many times, they sound the same or better
Hi Larry. If you would care to dig into the past, check out the Christmas Hymns and Carols album by Mario Lanza. Ever since my childhood, it has been my all-time favorite Christmas album. He was, and is, the greatest tenor EVER!! The Carpenters' 2 Christmas albums come in second. These guys you are featuring have great harmony!! Thanks for posting them.
Look forward to taking this musical Christmas journey with you! Your appreciation for nuances is next to none. I find myself getting excited about things I know nothing about 😆 Great job as usual.
Thanks so much!
No auto tune.
AUSTIN BROWN solo ‘BRING HIM HOME”
Please 🙏
Since you have done some of their more serious side, you should check out their more fun side with a Tim Foust (my favorite bass) original "Full of Cheer". The video is reminiscent of "the Monkees" t.v. show from back in my younger days. I think you will enjoy it!
Great reaction, Chris. This was beautiful. I'm not really all that much into Xmas songs tbh, but t his one is just great. I'm just throwing another suggestion your way now, another Home Free. I just love their rendition of "Listen To The Music" by Doobie Brothers. I am pretty sure YOU will too. Link : ruclips.net/video/O_7IYbuRgWQ/видео.html I hope you're thinking "WOW ! He didn't suggest an Angelina song, so this one must be REALLY good" 🤣😂 Have a great Sunday and upcoming week my friend. Love from Norway as always. ♥♥♥♥♥
Dang... Just checked your reactions, and you've already done it. Oh well. At least I tried.....LMAO
Nice! Yes, that was a good one! Happy Sunday bud!
You are sooo wrong about the auto tune but sooo right about it being perfection.
Okay! Here we go. Nice change up for the Season with your little intro. First up! Silent Night from an a cappella group, apropos. Home Free to boot! A comment mentioned you doing ‘Do You Hear What I Hear’ last year. I love that interaction because I go RUclips surfing! No two ways about it, I’m going to have to look through 11 months ago of Larryshair, the Christmas Tour. Chris, you need to check yourself out at this link. ruclips.net/video/LTfKWZuODhs/видео.html start @ about 11:30. See how far you have come! Yep, you are experiencing a musical buffet, taking subscribers along for the ride. Thanks for your channel. A shout out to fellow subscribers for recommendations to listen ‘outside the box’!
Auto tune? I don't think so! If you get the chance and they are performing near you, you have to go see them. You'll never think auto tune again.
Please react to Logic - confessions of a dangerous mind
HOME FREE HAS NO NEED FOR AUTO TUNE THEY ARE THAT GOOD.. I SAW THEM LIVE 8/11/22 IN HERMISTON OREGON AND AGAIIN 9/23/22 IN PORTLAND. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN STUDIO PRODUCTION AND LIVE QUALITY IN SOUND. CHECK OUT A CONCERT POST BY WENDI IN NEVERLAND OF TIM'S STORY TIME WHICH HE DOESN'T DO EVERY TIME ANY MORE. YOU WILL GET JAW DROPPING LAUGHS.. ALSO IF YOU GO TO A SHOW THEY HAVE AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION. TIM LIKES TO BANTER WITH THE AUDIENCE.
nope - just a great ability to accurately and cleanly make interval jumps, no matter how unusual. everything they do is intentional
