Dennis, thank you for being a faithful supporter of Lucy Thomas and family. The first time I can remember hearing this song was by Chloe Agnew of Celtic Woman. I didn't think that it could be done any better, but I was wrong. Lucy and Martha have established a level of perfection on Pie Jesu that I do not think will ever be equaled.
I am a long time Lucy admirer this is magnificent you can also try Charlotte Jaconelli singing it as a solo piece. Both are beautiful so enjoy both hers is on youtube.
Hi Dennis Glad you were able to react to this beautiful song ,What can you say about it other than WOW the girls voices blend so well together Martha´s voice has matured so much more and Lucy what can you say about Lucy Her voice now is just so beautiful she is untouchable and the best vocalist I have ever heard and she still has more years for her voice to mature. No one knows why this song is unlisted Thanks for your continued support for Lucy & Martha.
Hello Dennis, I am so glad you managed to get hold of a copy of this most beautiful song and for you to do a reaction to it. Why it was taken down one can only guess, there have been so many fans that are so upset that this video is not on the main RUclips channel, but this must be either down to RUclips or Lucy's management team it would be nice to know why. ??? Take care Barbara.
Pie Jesu (pious or merciful Jesus) in Latin, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1985 dedicated to his father who had passed away in 1982 as part of his only fully completed classical work “ Requiem”
The very wonderful religious song is all about good Friday and mostly performed in the week before Easter. I listened a few times to it and it is certainly Martha who is singing the low parts. As you, I wonder what had happened because it was disappeared from Lucy's channel, but I still can watch it on my own RUclips history, so it has not been blocked or so.
There was an audio only version on Lucy's latest CD which was just as nice. I found it by doing a search mentioned in another reaction. Though it was hard to find, it was worth the time spent finding it.
This was a beautiful cover. When I saw this was on her "Beyond" album I went back to my record collection and checked the date of the "Requiem" album by Andrew Lloyd Weber. I believe I got it in 1986. I first heard it on PBS. Lucy's and Martha's version is better. Thanks to whomever found the unlisted version since I was able to see it when Lucy first released it.
Welcome back Dennis, these two very hardly to have common ground of there singing on "Pie Jesu" there harmonies so beautiful voices these song so advancesly Iconic into perfect performances these beautiful voices sounds of musics this feels wonderful listening.
Thanks for the reaction Dennis. I have zero idea why it was taken down. But I did look up the English translation for the lyrics awhile back. "Pie Jesu" English Translation Merciful Jesus, merciful Jesus, merciful Jesus, merciful Jesus Father, who takes away the sins of the world Grant them rest, grant them rest Merciful Jesus, merciful Jesus, merciful Jesus, merciful Jesus Father, who takes away the sins of the world Grant them rest, grant them rest Lamb of God, Lamb of God, Lamb of God, Lamb of God Father, who takes away the sins of the world Grant them rest, grant them rest everlasting everlasting At any rate the Ladies did a magnificent work of art with this rendition. I’ve waited for a while, wondering if they were going to do video of this recording. Stay free, safe, and healthy.
This is the first time I am seeing this performance by Lucy and Martha, Loved It. They both have very beautiful voices. And your reaction to their performance doing the song was great. The first time I heard Pie Jesu was in 2010, on America's Got Talent, and it was being performed by a 10 year old girl who I was seeing for the first time. I could not believe that that the beautiful voice was coming from that little girl. BUT IT WAS. I discovered that Millions of others had felt that same way the first time they had seen this child perform. Her name is Jackie Evancho and her voice, in my opinion is still the most beautiful I have ever heard. I would really like to see how your reaction to Jackie's performance of Pie Jesu on AGT in 2010 would compare to mine. links I provide too often do not work when others get around to clicking on them but the video is easy to find on youtube. As I said she was 10 years old on AGT and she was still 10 when she took away Michael Jackson's Title as the Youngest Solo Vocal Artist to Go Platinum.
Beautiful rendition!,very odd what happened to the video,it would be good for someone in the know to tell us why, especially those that have followed Lucy for a # of yrs!
Dennis I enjoy your enthusiasm and good will in all your reactions. "Pie Jesus" has a repetition of certain phrases in Latin to a requiem-like Catholic church melody written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, as others have said. The title, "Pie Jesu" means "Have mercy on Jesus;" "Qui tollis peccata mundi" means "who takes away the sins of the world"; "Dona eis requiem" means "give them rest"; "Agnus Dei" means "Lamb of God"; "Sempiternam'"means "forever."

Absolutely beautiful. This is one of my mom's favorites songs.

I bought it first chance I got. First video was Sarah Brightman and a young boy. Wow! She was married to Lloyd Webber at that time.
Great reaction Dennis!
Wow! It just doesn't get any more Angelic than this!
Best regards,

They sang in Latin. No idea why it was unlisted. I do not think it is a copyright issue

Remember singing this in chamber choir. Beautiful rendition.
I gave you a big Thumbs Up for this reaction and if I see a reaction to any of Jackie's performances here I will subscribe to your channel,

They were saying in was holy Jesus not merciful Jesus.I googled it and it is merciful Jesus.Maybe that is why I don't know for sure
Not sure if the bubble around you is a good fit.
You use your whole body when you react so the bubble doesn't allow for all that
I'm not at home with my regular setup. It fits better there. When I'm away from home I may not use this effect
