    Carl was a close friend of Elvis Presley, a fantastic Guitarist and the King of Rockabilly in my opinion, Wanda Jackson being the Queen of Rockabilly (in my opinion) RIP Carl.

    Well, that's alright now mama .... Damn! I do like the first song, but .... what he does with "That's Alright, Mama" is just one of the best things I've ever seen or heard. And yes, I've always loved "The King", but Carl Perkins was one of the founding fathers of rock 'n' roll, and Elvis knew it.

    I just saw a doco interview about his life. It was very moving and sad
    His early career was ruined by a car crash that put him in hospiatl for months.
    Him and Elvis were friendly rivals, but Elvis had the looks, but Carl could write songs and play.

    • @Brede8260
      @Brede8260 8 лет назад

      The three mini-switches on the Strat is for switching between pickups I guess, that's the way Fender was making Strats around 1981

      Yeah I was looking at that too. I looked through my Fender book and couldn't find a Strat model that had those. They must have been some kind of custom feature they built for Carl.

    “TURN AROUND”
    When you're all alone and blue
    And the world looks down on you
    Turn around, I'll be following you.
    When you feel that love is gone
    And you realize you're wrong
    Turn around, I'll be following you.
    Turn around, I'll be waiting behind you
    With a love that's real and never, ever dies
    When you feel that love is gone
    And you realize you're wrong
    Turn around, I'll be following you.
    Turn around, I'll be waiting behind you
    With a love that's real and never, ever dies
    When you feel that love is gone

    Johnny Horton and Carl Perkins had best hair in country music!

    • @mikefule330
      @mikefule330 6 лет назад +1

      Carl shopped for his hair wisely, looked after it it, and gave it a saucer of milk every evening. At least I prefer this one to his later curly wig. Not knocking him as a truly great singer, guitarist, songwriter, performer, or shining light of rockabilly and country, but the hairpieces were, er... well, perhaps he should have chosen a hat instead. :) That guitar break in That's All Right, Mama: top notch!

      Not only that, he arrived at Sun Records with the nucleus of the standard Rock and Roll lineup of two guitars Bass and Drums, which the Beatles and other bands would mimic in the decades to come....

    • @alberttatlock5237
      @alberttatlock5237 6 лет назад +1

      Great Wig you mean, Carl was going bald in 1956, he adopted the Elvis look in the 60s and 70s, big hair, sideburns and jump suits, then in the late 80s he went with the big Gray curly wig and big glasses look, the same type of Wig Elvis would have worn if he were still Alive at the Time.
      Music Changes but the stars always wear over the top clothes, Wigs and Makeup, wether it be the 40s, 50s and 60s or Today.

    Great song of Flip label, before Sun records.

    • @jameshepburn4631
      @jameshepburn4631 Год назад +1

      Flip was actually Sam Phillip's 2nd label, a subsidiary of Sun. A lot of smaller independents had the same set up of two labels. It was for two reasons: First was to break in new artists without possibly having people thinking the lead record label isn't up to the quality it used to be or changed style from what you expected. Second, D.J.'S were under payola scrutiny and were hesitant to load their play list with a lot of one label's product. The station could get away with showing different record labels on their air time logs to elude possible FCC challenges. Some use of 2nd label examples besides Sun are Capitol/Tower, Toppa/Fedora, Brunswick & Coral both Decca owned.

    Better than elvis for the voice and the solo
    Because he is a real guitarist not like elvis who never did solo or intro with a guitar.
    Elvis often use guitar as decoration because he had with him real guitarist scotty moore and james burton.
