Carl was a close friend of Elvis Presley, a fantastic Guitarist and the King of Rockabilly in my opinion, Wanda Jackson being the Queen of Rockabilly (in my opinion) RIP Carl.
Look at the songs the Beatles recorded written by him!!!. your true love, Matchbox, everybody's tryna be my baby, honey dont, lend me your Comb,, sure to fall!!.. what a songwriter and musician he was.. love Carl Perkins so much 💓💓💓...🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💚💚👍👍
I love this song 🇮🇪🇮🇪..he was such a great songwriter and singer.. and unbelievable guitar player.they don't make them like that anymore.. that is true music self taught 😁😁👋👋❤️❤️
Well, that's alright now mama .... Damn! I do like the first song, but .... what he does with "That's Alright, Mama" is just one of the best things I've ever seen or heard. And yes, I've always loved "The King", but Carl Perkins was one of the founding fathers of rock 'n' roll, and Elvis knew it.
I just saw a doco interview about his life. It was very moving and sad His early career was ruined by a car crash that put him in hospiatl for months. Him and Elvis were friendly rivals, but Elvis had the looks, but Carl could write songs and play.
YEAH CARL WAS ONE OF THE TRUELY AUTHENTIC GREATS! WHAT ARE THOSE THREE MINI-SWITCHES ON HIS STRATOCASTER? HE DEFINITELY HAS HIS PLACE IN U.S. MUSIC HISTORY!
Yeah I was looking at that too. I looked through my Fender book and couldn't find a Strat model that had those. They must have been some kind of custom feature they built for Carl.

Carl shopped for his hair wisely, looked after it it, and gave it a saucer of milk every evening. At least I prefer this one to his later curly wig. Not knocking him as a truly great singer, guitarist, songwriter, performer, or shining light of rockabilly and country, but the hairpieces were, er... well, perhaps he should have chosen a hat instead. :) That guitar break in That's All Right, Mama: top notch!
Left us far to early. In my opinion had as big, if not bigger impact on music than Elvis. This man had it all, he could sing he could write music. So many artists , Beatles included rated him very highly and recorded his music.I love his music.
Not only that, he arrived at Sun Records with the nucleus of the standard Rock and Roll lineup of two guitars Bass and Drums, which the Beatles and other bands would mimic in the decades to come....
Great Wig you mean, Carl was going bald in 1956, he adopted the Elvis look in the 60s and 70s, big hair, sideburns and jump suits, then in the late 80s he went with the big Gray curly wig and big glasses look, the same type of Wig Elvis would have worn if he were still Alive at the Time. Music Changes but the stars always wear over the top clothes, Wigs and Makeup, wether it be the 40s, 50s and 60s or Today.
i love this! anybody got the full concert? my pops got me into perkins elvis cash and lewis early on and i have never stopped listening to them even though i went into rockand punk etc..in early 80's. check out my tribute video song NO BABY DON'T by ElvinPosey and let me know if you like it! hope you like it! LONG LIVE CARL PERKINS.
Flip was actually Sam Phillip's 2nd label, a subsidiary of Sun. A lot of smaller independents had the same set up of two labels. It was for two reasons: First was to break in new artists without possibly having people thinking the lead record label isn't up to the quality it used to be or changed style from what you expected. Second, D.J.'S were under payola scrutiny and were hesitant to load their play list with a lot of one label's product. The station could get away with showing different record labels on their air time logs to elude possible FCC challenges. Some use of 2nd label examples besides Sun are Capitol/Tower, Toppa/Fedora, Brunswick & Coral both Decca owned.
Elvis never imitated anyone, he sang a song and gave it his personal touch and many times he did it much better than the original artist, very few artists manage to do that.
Elvis totally copped Perkins’ style of playing Blue Moon of Kentucky and That’s All Right, Mama. Perkins had been playing them in that style for years but Elvis beat him into the recording studio. Perkins was just too gentlemanly to ever say anything
Better than elvis for the voice and the solo Because he is a real guitarist not like elvis who never did solo or intro with a guitar. Elvis often use guitar as decoration because he had with him real guitarist scotty moore and james burton.
I believe it is all about persons likes as far as voice, his voice better than elvis did you say?? I do agree elvis certainly is a guitar player as him though, in fact believe you are correct in believing elvis and guitar a prop
Indeed. I don't know why he bothered with a wig especially such an artificial looking one. People loved his talent and couldn't have cared less about his receding hairline.
Carl was a close friend of Elvis Presley, a fantastic Guitarist and the King of Rockabilly in my opinion, Wanda Jackson being the Queen of Rockabilly (in my opinion) RIP Carl.
Carl really defines the Rockabilly era of that day.
Carl was one ,of the best by far
Gone but never forgotten hope for centuries

They did glad all over also
Absolute legend in the music industry, he had it all singer, song writer, breathtaking guitar skills in my opinin

Elvis and Carl sang the same songs. That's All Right Mama and Blue Suede Shoes.
They both started out at the same time at Sun records with JERRY LEE LEWIS AND JOHNNY CASH they all went on tour together in the early days 👍
@@johnbaringer5933 Damn! I would've liked being a roadie on that tour!
Rarement vu un homme aussi beau et talentueux 💖💕💖💕💖
Well worth watching twice. His guitar playing was a class act also.
A real class act. Carl was the complete country singer.
~ ~ ~ " BLUE'S SUEDE SHOES' " WILL NEVER DIES OFF...24 jam. ~ ~ ~
Beautiful song ❤
I just saw a doco interview about his life. It was very moving and sad
His early career was ruined by a car crash that put him in hospiatl for months.
Him and Elvis were friendly rivals, but Elvis had the looks, but Carl could write songs and play.
Everybody's gone some day, sorry for that... but some of them have left a legacy, and Carl Perkins was one of those greats...!!
George Beatle adored CP & can you blame him? A REAL star.
Carl my man, true legend, RIP
Always looked happier playing guitar than singing... one of the originals!
This guy just kept getting better as a singer and guitarist. Check his live performances from mid to late eighties, he sounded better than ever
What a legend!
The emperor of rock and roll..
A class act!! Go cat go!!!
Go Cat Go!!! Fantastic Carl, you done very well! Rest In Peace Carl!
* Great singer Carl Perkins. super talent..!
Carl Perkins King of Rockabilly
And he wrote Blue Suede Shoes!
what a talent...........wow
Turn around. Didn't know his voice was that smooth. Sounds like Jim Reaves.
He is surly missed rip Carl.
💜💜💜
the best cat.
Carl was very handsome ! Wow! Mercy!! Great musician and songwriter! I love him!
Carl didn't think of himself as handsome. He thought he looked like Mister Ed.
YEAH CARL WAS ONE OF THE TRUELY AUTHENTIC GREATS! WHAT ARE THOSE THREE MINI-SWITCHES ON HIS STRATOCASTER? HE DEFINITELY HAS HIS PLACE IN U.S. MUSIC HISTORY!
The three mini-switches on the Strat is for switching between pickups I guess, that's the way Fender was making Strats around 1981
Yeah I was looking at that too. I looked through my Fender book and couldn't find a Strat model that had those. They must have been some kind of custom feature they built for Carl.
ELVIS, CARL, JOHNNY & JERRY LEE MEMPHIS HEAVEN

BISMARCK ROCK Oboy I like this and I call it the white mans blues, a presumably forgotten fact.
Just great , I shook his hand before a show in Washingtion Dc mid 80's .........
I remember TURN AROUND by JLL, but Carl wrote it. ROCK ON.
And that cover of 'That's Alright, Mama' is excellent, I think, especially the guitar playing, except the final end...!
very underrated
Saw him with Johnny Cash on Johnny's very last tour.
Just awesome amazing what more to say but legendary
His voice sounds like Hank Williams Sr, sorta. I know Carl Perkins is amazing in his own style.
Yes, you are right, then smooths out.
Johnny Horton and Carl Perkins had best hair in country music!
Great men sometimes wore wigs: Carl Perkins, John Wayne...
Great Carl Perkins in 1970's.
I've heard Carl's rockabilly music but not his pure country work.
I've seen Carl Perkins live in Holland in 1980. He was GREAT.❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
El rey de la Rockabilly. Uno de los Million Dollar Quartet de Sun Records.

I wonder when that strat was built, and where is it now ?
The six OTHERS that hit the dislike button either don't know what music is or they just wanna piss people of and one of those people is ME!!!!!
He's got that classic early 70s Elvis type wig on, the sort of overgrown 50s Style
GREAT HAIR
Great Wig you mean, Carl was going bald in 1956, he adopted the Elvis look in the 60s and 70s, big hair, sideburns and jump suits, then in the late 80s he went with the big Gray curly wig and big glasses look, the same type of Wig Elvis would have worn if he were still Alive at the Time.

Thanks for posting Albert.
I lo?bed Carl Perkins great voice
terrific guitar Picker I always feet sad that him and most of my boyhood rockers are all pushing up the daises.
Too bad he's gone.

Great song of Flip label, before Sun records.

Quite a divet
The wigs didnt ruin it ---- he had that much talent...
Great family man! - Jezuz - you americans sometimes...
I’ll take Carl Perkins over Elvis any day hands down…
It’s no coincidence Elvis always tried to imitate The True King Of Rock & Roll…
Elvis never imitated anyone, he sang a song and gave it his personal touch and many times he did it much better than the original artist, very few artists manage to do that.
Carl is one of the greatest in history, his influence was very great, the Beatles were very fond of his songs.
Elvis totally copped Perkins’ style of playing Blue Moon of Kentucky and That’s All Right, Mama. Perkins had been playing them in that style for years but Elvis beat him into the recording studio. Perkins was just too gentlemanly to ever say anything
This was in the 1970s because of what he's wearing, looks like and what everything looks like
U
carl perkins the king of wigs
Disrespectful twat
In a Elvis suit
Better than elvis for the voice and the solo
Because he is a real guitarist not like elvis who never did solo or intro with a guitar.

I believe it is all about persons likes as far as voice, his voice better than elvis did you say?? I do agree elvis certainly is a guitar player as him though, in fact believe you are correct in believing elvis and guitar a prop
ELVIS was a rhythm guitarist, not a lead guitarist. Had ELVIS wanted to kearn to be a lead guitarist he no doubt could have become one.
I love the guy.......but jesus, that wig is just too ridiculous for words.
It got worse i would say.
Indeed. I don't know why he bothered with a wig especially such an artificial looking one. People loved his talent and couldn't have cared less about his receding hairline.
I believe it had less to do with vanity, and more to do with looking like 1950's.
I heard he was racist tho
No he was born a sharecropper and learned guitar from his black friend in Tiptonville tn
where did you get this info?
@@mackenzielowe1872 some people in my history of rock and roll where saying about him and elvis that they where racist
Carl was not a racist!
@@bonbonl7907 Neither were racists.
