@@TheCooderix But why are you comparing it to Lost Ark? Why are you not comparing it to their other games? Valorant, Wildrift, TFT & Legends of Runeterra - All of those games are literally CRUSHING the competition and growing is such speed it is incredible. Then you have the story games which already go a bit indepth of a couple of characters story: Ruined King, Hextech Mayhem, Song of Nunu (still coming out), CONV/RGENCE All of those are really beautifully made games. The only thing that REALLY should happen is that the RIOT MMO becomes a P2P game. Because every mother fucking F2P MMO gets filled with a SHIT TON of bots which just kills a HUGE part of the community (Saw it happen in Lost Ark, the chat turned from idiotic and chaotic into braindead bots advertising for their shitty as RMT pages) The rest of the game will only be about balancing which should go in their favor since they have team members with over a decade of experience in balancing around characters.
@@tolgeh3443 Because of leaked photos of a Riot project that for a time was theorized to be their MMO. Riot aren't exactly the pinnacle of innovation either and they're known to cut corners, such as with Ruined King and Hextech, which aren't even made by Riot. Their games tend to be really basic, albeit very well made, so tackling an innovative, immersive MMO that isn't just Lost Ark 2.0 seems unlikely to me, but who knows. I'm really intrigued either way, I think their universe has a lot of potential, i'm just trying to temper my expectations. Remember, Ghostcrawler said it won't appeal to all players, which makes me think it isn't going to be the be all end all of MMOs, which is fair enough I suppose, but might not be what people want from Riot.
I think Piltover/Zaun will become like "central marketplace" or mid-game main city. Or they can make Piltover/Zaun - Laboraties or Factories as dungeons which make can make robots or puzzle-like dungeons, instead of killing everything in sight.
I think Piltover and Zaun will most likely be the main hub cities for when they open up Shurima IF Azir doesn't want us in his empire, or just to make Piltover and Zaun be a neutral hub for Demacia and Noxus.
@@sr.365 Yea but bilgewater is pretty far from the continent of Valoran. I think it will be more like a black market or pvp high zone where everyone can do what he wants.
Ixtal could be a starter region too with a great potential for a tutorial beginning. Realizing that the world has changed since they isolated for a long time and wanting to explore the outside world. Then as soon as you leave the forest you gotta fight a small boss (small because its still a tutorial) at the end, fainting from exhausting and then getting transported to a northern region by something or someone. Since you lived in Ixtal from the moment you were born, you don´t know much about the other regions, you don´t know how to get back to Ixtal and therefore got a motivation to explore the world and its state.
I agree. It would take the immersion out of playing that race for the first time if you already knew the whole world of Runeterra. It would be really meta to play that class from an expansion standpoint. I’m not sure how it would work as a tutorial spot, but definitely should be included as a starting area.
this was incredibly well done. you kept me fully engaged for the entire 30 minutes. in this day and age of scrolling its hard to keep the viewer for more than a few seconds.
A lot of people have moved to the 5-10 min video scheme now that you mentioned it , I remember while growing up I used to always want more content and got mad at the creators who would release small videos and would nutt at the sight of an hour long video. Now I’m the opposite. I want everything delivered in the first minute and if I see a 30 min video it has to be something im verrrrrry interested in. My mind is poisoned for its attention span and I hate it
Game idea: For Noxus out of bounds if you go too far, instead of invisible walls or impassible terrain - Kled runs at you with Skarl and kills you for trespassing
Something about Noxus I feel makes them even more interesting. When they say the only thing they care about is strength is not only physical strength, but every way you can win a battle. They respect cunning, stealth and magic, making them in some disturbing way one of the most inclusive regions in Runeterra. Doesn't matter where you come from or who you are as long as you can kil :D
Yup, they will take anything that will strengthen the nation and incorporate it into their culture and way of life. They are very much like how Rome was at the height of it's power. Join and become strong together, or be annihilated.
Not only battle wise. Anything that you can do to help the military from developing weapons, blacksmithing, alchemy, cooking, medicine, teaching, etc... As long as you're good and loyal to the empire, you can succeed in any area of the Noxian Empire.
I always saw it more as like "being good at what you do, and being able to lift your own weight" so it doesn't matter much if you're good at fighting, crafting or even art if you're good at what you do
I really hope they take their time and make this right, the world of Runeterra has endless potential. With how they made Arcane, I'm hopeful that this is going to be one of the best MMO in the future.
considering real world capital names like "Mexico city" for Mexico and "Brasilia" for Brazil, "the great city of demacia" for demacia really isn't that weird
and funny enough, "mexico city" was not called that, it was changed recently in 2016 so... to this day people in power do prefer simplie names even if it feels dumb, it is just "the great city" feels somewhat egotistical and greater than it really is
Tokyo as well, which is japanese for "eastern capital", or Beijing which is "Northern capital" in chinese, and Seoul, which just means "capital city" in korean. Then you have the US whose capital is Washington... which is not in the state of Washington lmao.
I remember when League was young and me and my friend were playing it, I used to love reading the characters' lore and every new character who came out, I'd read it. Learning about all the different races (species) and places was awesome. Back then, there was no map, so you had no real idea of where these places were relative to each other, and there wasn't much backstory. Then they stopped doing lore for a long time because it wasn't cost effective at that point. I stopped playing after a few years and so didn't know about the lore coming back. It's really awesome to see it back, with way more depth and even a world map! Definitely making me curious to try to MMO out...
My one big hope for this MMO is: Please keep faith to your "cosmetics-only" payment-model and don't ruin the MMO from the start with a greedy, badly designed ingame cash-shop.
If you're talking about the idea this game will be F2P. It definitely will not be. This will 1000% be a monthly subscription, with added expansion costs. They have to make revenue in one way shape or form (cosmetics only costs won't bring them revenue in the long run). Most players are perfectly content with the armor sets and gear they find through drops in MMO's
@@Luminated search for "How to Train a Whale in your game" and you will see, your 12-15 bugs a month are worthless. and moste player are not rich af so the only hope will be that they don't get too greedy. one whale is worth thousands of you. take EA, they would even sell you a Spoon for your soup in a loot box if they had a restaurant and not a developer graveyard.
If they make an mmo with good combat and not P2W, I will not only gladly pay their sub, I'll whale every fkin cosmetic they have available in the game. I never liked wow combat (and by extension their copy ffxiv) but they still have NO competition whatsoever. Every game that has better combat is either P2W (bdo) or everything else except combat is garbage (new world).
I can't exagerrate enough how much Legends Of Runeterra helps us visualize all the regions identity. And how much it helped with this video lmao, the amount of art they provide is truly a godsend

@@Gnomgnash If the character customization allows you to create great unique looking characters then I'm all for it, but looking at Western MMO's and their track record, I'm not too hopeful. It usually ends up with everyone more or less looking the same, with the only option to look remotely different from others, being the cash shop or w/e.
Yeah, Lol's lore is amazing with so many great characters, settings, stories, cultures, etc. My main concern is how they will conclude major story arcs like the Watchers for instance. The first one with Viego was a total mess and disappointment.
Well.. the total mess and dissapointment as it was the Ruination event, once pieced all together (by reading stories and the comics, playing the Ruined King, and watching the cinematics) there is a substaintial story to tell and it's quite decent at best. I just hope Riot did learn form their mistakes.
An mmo is a perfect way to fix the lore mess imo, they can basically rewrite the quests and stories and make them canon, its much easier that crunching a story into a moba
One thing to consider is that the market team had a huge involvment in that event, they decided which champions were involved and how they got involved based on popularity rather than story, we can see it with skins, so if anything being away from them in their own game hopefully will be better for the story.
@@markojovanovic9651 Wtf why whould they rewrite anything ??? We have 150 champs whose storys are literally mostly setup, nothing is finished even Shurima which has ended is currently rising again, Morde who is banished will also come into the mortal realm somewhere in the future. Literally the only bios that dont give us an open story line are the spirits like janna or kindred since their storys just explain what they are. Edit : i forgot to mention, most of them are absolutely amazing
Damn with one video you have me enthralled in hope for this MMO (I never played league or gave it much thought). This seems like a universe ready to be lived in! Amazing work!!
@@johnpauljonesisabadass8134 Yeah from the scale of power of the beings there, it should be end game. But i can't see them putting Shurima as the last expansion and since the two are connected it would be hard to seperate them. So you have the chance to climb Targon, but you die after one minute of climbing or so. If they make it that way, it would play into the lore and it wouldn't feel like a cheap invisible wall.

Just imagine Targon being late game backbreaking grinding place and the moment you reach the top you get an aspect as a class or just a really cool looking and op armour set.Ornn could also be a late game grinding place for items.
I would imagine Ornn's "Raid" (I'm saying it sarcastically because Ornn wouldn't want to fight you) would be a player trying to go through the extreme nature of Freljord and reach to the depths of The Hearth-Home to meet him and get a new armour set or a weapon, or even become his follower and join the Hearthblood and get new abilities.

Absolutely fantastic video Necrit. As someone who has never touched an mmo, you've more or less riled me up with your story telling and potential ideas. Great narration and pace throughout the video, never lingering too much at each region, and while still being broad for everyone to understand what we could expect, you were able to include lots of very fast comments to please those who are caught up to the lore. Those extra video ideas regarding the mmo sounds amazing!
I agree. Necrit is able to make the world of Runeterra easily understood, with great narration, and being direct to the point about the different regions. Thus, making this video, a great introduction to the League of Legends game, through the lore and world of Runeterra. Plus, I agree with Necrit. Ixtal is a region that really needs more attention. Each region has like more than 5 champions, while Ixtal has only like 5 of them. It really needs more lore than the other regions.
This was a nice refresher on all the general lore of runeterra and it is awesome to see how an mmo would play out. I really want to see a video on the possible classes/races there could be. Also there could be an expansion to bandle city and the spirit realm would be neat
Pretty sure he did already do a video on the potential races when the announcement was first made, whenever that was. I would go to his channel and put in "MMO" in the search and you'll probably find it

I don't think you should hold them to Rockstar level :) Don't think I'm not for it, but it is just that the quality of MMOs is relatively low that anything 'decent' will be amazing news. Concerning Riot I wwouldn't say League is in particular better than Dota, just more popular, and Valorant is well Valorant. Let's hope the right people are working on this but will it really be amazing in every aspect like you say or just the world building at most, I doubt it will revolutionize much and just borrow from other MMOs like WoW.
@@fupa1503 Well, i agree that the games riot has produced never where the absolute best in their fields or maybe equal with other games, why i trust riot with what it does though is that, except the ziggs rythm game (which was really more of a side thing) riot never really had a flop. It always archieved what it aimed to do, valorant was meant as a competetive heavy tactical shooter and now is one of the best in that, same even with legends of runeterra, in my opinion it is a really solid card game. What I basicly want to deliver is that riot never dissapointed, it always was a solid product no matter how diffrent the field, so i expect the mmo to be good as well, especially with that good of a world lore allready existing.
@@callumnegus9906 That's not a video game, it's a show, and personally I had super high expectations for Arcane and they did not fail. They've always had amazing cinematics and decent story telling for their characters and so much to pull from for Arcane.
I am only halfway through the video but i had to pause and say this; I've been a fan of Necrit for at least 4 years and he has plenty of well put together videos. But none has ever compelled me to come to the comments and speak on it. You knocked this out of the park. Great video dude, I hope they use a lot of your ideas as well. Just listening to them and imagining them has made me so excited and none of this is confirmed LOL.
Right? I just paused around the 18:30 mark to go through the comments. I dont play the main LoL game anymore (started in S4 to S2021) but this is simply amazing
I fell in love with the world of Runeterra and all of its lore after watching Arcane and trying out LOR. I've never been so excited for a game's world lore since Warcraft 3. I really hope they nail this MMO
I feel like Targon could be one of those "Tower like" dungeons where you need to fight floors to advance but with the twist of not being any floors and just harder enemies along the way to stop low levels forcing them to level up and come back later, like a massive raid
Ive been wanting a really really really good mmorpg to play in my 18 years of lifetime. I wanna feel like im in that world, with good combat and social experience. I was too young for WoW and i wanna feel like how others felt for WoW, putting 10 thousands of hours into it and folks, i think riot's mmo has a really high chance to be that. (also ive been playing league for 10 years lol) So so much potential.
You have to consider the time WoW came out and the sort of feeling people describe that played at the time. It was an earlier time in the internet, and the sort of first kind of its game that a lot of people played. You also got a lot of social interactions through an online world which are just a regular normal part of life now. So being able to communicate with people around the world was pretty unique. Then you didn't have massive amounts of content everywhere about the game where you could simply google anything you wanted. So a lot of stuff was new and players went in blind. That's not something you'll be able to really recreate anymore. Unless we get to a point where you could full dive into a VR world that I feel you could recreate that sort of feeling.
@@tobias1438 i didnt mean it like that, i know that back then things were way different. I meant more like riot's mmo can bring back mmos to the top again.
I really want a Zyra raid in Ixtal. Imagine delving deep into the forest and fighting giant mutated plants while Zyra taunts you all the way, saying stuff like "Take careful steps my prey, for this is MY garden."
I would go there just to raze her forest. Do you know how many times that champ cause me pain. If she ever becomes a raid boss I will devote my time in ransacking her area just to alleviate the agony.

Man, PLEASE make the other videos, this one made me fall in love even more with the lore and made me really excited for the upcoming MMO, so the visual material would be fantastic
I've been talking a lot to my friends about how the MMO will be, like in regards to gameplay and playstyle. Will it be like WoW, ESO, FF14, BDO, or something completely new! Whether it'll focus on Demacia vs Noxus or Piltover vs Zaun as an alliance vs alliance thing, or maybe focus going through all the different regions?! Or maybe we choose where we start and then explore different regions later on? So many possibilities! I totally think it'll be its own separate timeline/canon so that it can explore things a lot more than the other games, like having an A Sol raid boss, or a raid where Ryze helps you retrieve world runes while facing off against Brand. One thing I do really hope for is that we meet Zilean and he takes us through different timelines meaning that we see Icathia before its fall and Shurima at its might! :D
I'm kind of hoping that riot takes a soulslike approach, after playing Elden Ring a lot recently I've really gotten into that game. I think it would work pretty well with the enemies and bosses that riot could create. Think of rolling around Sion's axe as a raid boss, which would be super cool.
I think they'll take their own spin on a more WoW/ FF14 style of gameplay. ESO's gameplay fits for the series it represents but it isn't what alot of MMO players look for from what I've seen as a longtime ESO player. There isn't much crossover between ESO and WoW players unfortunately. As far as story goes, it'll probably have a more WoW like structure but with faction capitols instead of racial since most of the races will be Human or Vastaya. Idk if we'll get to play Yordle. That'd be interesting. Personally, I'd like to get a little Dragon Age: Origins-ish and be able to pick Faction, Background, Race, and Class. For example... You start in Freljord (Faction) as a Vastayan Mage (Race and Class) under the banner of the Winter's Claw (Background). Or you're a Human Rogue (Race/ Class) within the ranks of the Black Rose (Background) in Noxus (Faction). Perhaps letting your Background affect how your adventure within your Faction progress before opening you up to the rest of the world. So maybe if you choose Noxian Soldier, your main quest within Noxus would differ from that of a member of the Black Rose or maybe even a member of an assimilated tribe. This is obviously all wishful thinking and honestly far too much to expect programmers to do have to sit there and deal with but it'd be cool imo.
@@TheSylveonSurfer I'm kind of expecting WoW-like gameplay because it maps onto LoL fairly well (which is also a good source of inspiration to draw on for player abilities) and it's one of the things Ghostcrawler was excellent at. If it was too much like XIV I think it would hurt the series because XIV's a bit too vertical and doesn't have a lot of encounter variety in combat, something that should be a strong point of any MMO. If it deviated from that I'd expect more Tera or Wildstar influences as skillshot gameplay is also another League staple. And I'd be surprised if they didn't add yordles as a playable race either. One of my main complaints about XIV is that there's far too much anime bait (neko-eared races are not furries, imo. They're weeb shit) and I kinda wish they had gone down the path of making Ivalice the setting because what we got is so boring.
@@TheSylveonSurfer I also agree about them going towards the more traditional type of MMO like WoW or FF14, I only really listed ESO there to show some variety as it's quite different to other MMO's with its combat, a lot more faster paced. I do hope they bring something new/unique to the table though. I feel like WoW has gotten quite dated, which you can feel after playing newer MMO's. I feel FF14 can get very stale because it feels very static in terms of its progression, like it can get very stale (if that makes sense?). I definitely think Yordle will be a playable race, it'll attract so many extra players to the game that it'll be a huge loss if Riot don't do it. But I do hope that you can choose race and class like what you say. I'd love to be a Shuriman Warrior/Tank but I wouldn't want to be forced into only starting in Shurima, I'd want to be where my friends are. I definitely think Riot's thought of all this though, and I don't think they'll disappoint because MMO's are a huge money sink and it'd be a massive waste to put out something that's sub-par.
Since they are making an mmo and it is finally getting "closer" to be fleshed out, do you think they will finally begin updating the world map? They haven't added so many of the newer champs to it. This including where Viego is actually from.
nope since the company with 3000 employees apparently only has 1 person to manage their own website hence why a bunch of champs on the league website still show their old kits and havent had their stuff update :/
@@toxicbergers that sucks. They were constantly updating the world map prior to 2019 and then they stopped doing anything with it. It is one of my favorite maps and is what I use to show people the lore.
I think allowing players to start in Piltover/Zaun or Bilgewater would be a better option as every race can be found there from Demacians, to Noxian, to Shurimans and Ionians. Plus the variety of classes and quests that can be created will be more colourful as they can easily hook players compared to deep stories of the northern continent. Thanks for the video as a League fan and one who follows your lore recaps I am more excited for the MMO.

@@xPhantomxify Well that's a good take on how a lot of people view MMOs but you also need to see the quality of art they presented on their 10th anniversary where I believe the graphics are at least not 2002. 2nd off MMOs success comes not from how well the games and stories are made but how well players can connect with it, like FF14 was a great game but didn't launch with massive success and grew over time with updates. So MMOs work unless you are one by NetEase then no.

I think the accension of mount Targon should be "the second last mission". You get up there to turn into a humanoid aspect, get incredibly strong to then go out and beat a second major wave of the void to prevent them from taking runeterra. Question is, can there be multiple aspects of the same class?
Riot could easily set up a story where the gods want to create as many ascended as possible, maybe not permanent ascended but a form of "temporary god-warrior" to fight of a last wave of void creatures.

I am praying so hard that Riot does good with this. I grew up on LoL, and although I no longer play it, I was absorbed into the lore. I read every champions back story and the history of Runeterra. I never thought one day I could be playing a MMO based on ALL OF THAT. So hyped for this, and I am willing to wait years if need be for them to perfect it. I hope they don't bend over to the 1% that complain they want it to launch early. Those people are MMO killers, and other developers of other MMO have proven that listening to these types of people will cause their game to fail hard. Take your time, get it right and amaze us nerd gamers with a real WoW killer, because god knows we need one. Blizzard is done, they only make trash anymore. The last expansion I played and liked was Legion...
I was a wow baby and tried to get into LoL, it's an ok game that's not for me but the lore was so great. I maintain that LoL is a great game with a fantasy flavor, but a terrible fantasy game (since you don't get to experience any of the fantasy of the world without going outside of the game). Been saying they should do an MMO since 2014 and more than happy they are actually doing it
If they don't fuck it up it can be a very successful MMO. Speaking about WoW how is it that it was so successful? There were already fans for it because of Warcraft 1 - 3 there were books, Lore without end and now we can actually go into this world and see for ourselves and explore. Characters we knew and loved like Uther, Illidan, Arthas, Malfurion, Tyrande and so on. Seeing LoL is a very popular game (even if I don't get why - I 'm not a MOBA guy at all I liked Heroes of the Storm but that's about it although I gotta say the ideas for MOBAs are often awesome like Smite - Gods fighting each other) and even has a series attached to it with Arcane it has actually everything it needs to be the next WoW IF DONE RIGHT. Something every single MMO failed to do since over a decade.
That would be more logical if the first bases would be Demacia and Noxus then making an expansion with others etc etc Thats the way mmo's work. They already shown Zaun and Piltover so maybe focus on the 2 biggest regions on the first place
@@Vico992 The two of them would give too little variety in landscapes, they need at least 3 to make an interesting base continent. So either they make entire Valoran the bast continent, including Piltover/Zaun, or they leave out the Freljord for now. Because they will want to have Piltover there from the beginning without a doubt, works far better in marketing.
I get arcane is popular, but there's way more interesting zones than piltover or zaun. I think the shadow isles and shurima have very cool lore and the champions within them are damn near God's or immortal. I wouldn't say a base region but these regions have always interested me more. Demacia and noxus I would argue are going to be the base zones tbh. Simply because they're two nations at war with eachother kind of like the horde and alliance in war craft.
@@thelitmango6333 They have honestly far more depth than Horde or Alliance, and I already like the Horde a lot. As iconic rivals they are essential to the setting, and Ionia is going to be the most interesting expansion for me because I really want to experience the Noxian Invasion. But they will have Piltove/zaun for one simple reason: Recognition. Even if you've got nothing to do with LoL or Runeterra, you are bound to have heard of Arcane and it's success if you're in the Gaming scene. If they sell it right, people who usually don't play MMOs will be far more likely to give it a try than without this region.
I like the subtle hint that Syndra would be a great Raid Boss, and I 100% agree. She's the most powerful human on Runeterra and is only getting more powerful. She doesn't align with any faction, even her own people (the Ionians), so she is neutral. And has ties to the Aspects because 1 - Soraka is the one who banished Syndra to the Dreaming Pool. And 2 - her helmet/crown is the exact same shape as the Mount Targon Symbol.
Soraka probably didn't banish Syndra to the Dreaming Pool; Syndra was dragged down to the pool by the "Spirit of Ionia" when she went apeshit on her teacher/the island of Fae'lor (Syndra's bio). The Vastayashai'rei had a myth about Soraka that stated she used "their light both to heal the wounded and scorch those who would do further harm to the First Lands" (Soraka's bio). Coming from the Vastayashai'rei, ancestors of modern Vastaya, this would have been before Syndra was born; Syndra was sleeping in the Dreaming Pool only for some decades, according to a former guardian of the Dreaming Pool (Syndra's color story). I also think that putting someone into the Dreaming Pool would not be scorching them. So yeah, I don't think Soraka put Syndra into the Dreaming Pool, but I can see why you thought that since league lore can be ambiguous sometimes.
@@BIGBIGCASHEW I think she was in the Dreaming Pool for longer than a few decades as she had never even heard of Noxus, for example. It's been a while since I read her story

Turn some of them into special event -M.Targon for veteran player to grind (climbing) to get new power -Shadow isle for mid player for party boss raid to get special type of item -Ixtal for exploring tomb or dungeon These ideas are too far ahead as of right now, but at least for a little fun talk with you guy who are also excited for the game
They shouldn't limit entire regions to one purpose. Every region is massive in potential and they should all contain raids, dungeons, endgame grinding, social spaces, patrol zones and all the rest.
@@lessersphinx3971 Also people are going to butcher me for this, but unless they can come up with some wacky progression system, I'd love to see them go the Guild Wars 2 progression route, Horizontal, not Vertical, as a way to not inviabilize past zones, it's always bothered me that MMO's spend so much time fleshing out lores for places, that you'll just eventually outlevel and be done with essentially forever.

Climbing targon would be a great mission for character's that have reached certain level, for example 100, to evolve (acend), and making them able to go higher lvl. Something like the awakening in BDO. That would be Cool 😎
I was always a fan of the League lore and loved reading bits of it here and there, but when you put it all together into this one nice summary: DAMN that's one hell of an epic premise for a game. Knowing Riot I'm sure they're using every tidbit of lore they have to be fully implemented into the game and actually have purpose. I can't wait for the MMO.
I think we can thank Legends of Runeterra for most of the canonical art, lore and worldbuilding we get outside of just whats happened to the champions in their backstory
It would be cool if Mt. Targon had a quest line where the player makes their way to the top and gets to pick an aspect to ascend into, perhaps gaining a buff or special skill or ability tied to that aspect.
terrible idea, the gods only pick one host so having multiple aspects of the same god running around would completely ruin the story. You should never become an aspect because they are some of the strongest beings in Runeterra, like you would gain the power of god.
@@nothinisworthit Maybe instead of becoming an aspect you choose to join one of the devotional tribes and gain an armor/weapon infused with a boon based on that aspect. Maybe certain tribes favor certain styles, like the Solari prefer melee and CC so the boons are based on that whereas the Guardians are based on defense and regeneration. Like yay you made it to the top, pick a demigod as your patron. Kinda like doing Mt Celestia in D&D but with more choices. You could even add a neutral boon that doesn't require allegiance to a specific demigod but rather you climbed the Mountain to test yourself.
I’d like it as a massive but really difficult raid where if your character dies then your done for that raid and rewards are given based on how high you climbed the mountain
I hope that the audio team does a magnificent job in the sound effects in special moments of the game, combining with an impeccable soundtrack and alteration of the environment in world bosses to make the moment even more exciting, in the same style that happens in the drawings where each apex of history is marked by an incredible and remarkable soundtrack
bro have you even heard their champion theme, kda, arcene theme, etc. they release a masterpiece one after another, don't even bother yourself to doubt their audio team. Riot is a music company that happend to have a game as a side gig
I think im already quite assured on the music of the game, considering that a lot of their music is already crazy good. And ofcourse the company being memed of being a music company labelled as a game development one.
That was also my first thought when they finally revealed that they were gonna do an MMO. The world is practically set and its awesome! Riot saved SO much dev time with that. We might actually get the game in my lifetime.
A lot of MMOs work with Awakenings after some time to power up your skills or even give you new ones. Ascending the mount Targon in a raid would be such a cool way to awaken you character
something like that might be necessary when we move from fighting wolves and such to fighting ascended beings and other powerful creatures like demons ect.
But having to do a raid to ascend your character would be quite ostracizing. Only WOW can really get away with such a mechanic and not kill its MMO presence, and even THEY put secondary and in th upcoming expansion, tertiary ways of reaching the heights of player power.
@@luckylukas2282 they could always do what final fantasy did... and have an easier story mode version of the raid that you could do solo... and then still have the challenging raid with its own rewards.
@@luckylukas2282 Path of Exile, you need to complete dungeon (Eternal Labyrinth) 4 times to completely ascend your character (max 8 points, 2 for each Lab, 4 different difficulties) and it's literally called 'the ascension'. Everyone is fine with this and a lot of people actually like this, including myself.
As for the bilgewater expansion, it would be cool to see them implement sea fairing as a way to explore the smaller parts of Runeterra that we will never have an opportunity to see, considering the state of their other games. Lost Ark did a pretty good job at adding the mechanic.
Even if making expansions would be the most logical choice for Riot, i would hope for them to take Guild Wars 2 approach, were you can start from every major "city" in the map (depending on your race/class)and you can progress in other less-civilized regions with higher lvl enemies. This would give the player the chance to start from their preferred region, maybe with different clothing/equipment/backgrounds depending on which region they chose
do you have any idea how much they would need to make then? all 10 regions, with all of the empires in between, making each feel fleshed out and worth exploring. thats not a 5-6 year development but more like 10+
Hell fucking no, two starting places is plenty. The amount of development that this would take would be ridiculous and would also ruin any chance for the story to progress into new cities later
@@lunahri4173 I don't mind waiting for long ass game. Riot has the resources and capacity to do it. They have League of Legends and other game to funnel more financial resource to Runeterra MMO. I just don't like if they rush it and make it half ass.
Interesting idea about the starting locations and base world, i was at first thinking about bildgewater as a starting point for everyone coz there are weaker threats (like mostly normal human pirates and bandits) + it doesnt matter which race u start coz bildgewater is a port city and you can be from anywhere PLUS kinda like Lost Ark system exactly in bildgewater it would make the most sense to give you a ship to travel the world of Runterra. But i also really like your take with Horde/Alliance type of deal with Noxus and Demacia starts
There are also some regions that should be realy special like Mount Targon. Good place for a raid boss or something but I wouldnt want to be a place commonly accesible.
please not Lost Ark, it is so fucking boring travelling 5mins every single time. after 200 hrs I stopped playing that shitty game because it is also pay2win
"weaker threats" Uhhh... I think you forgot about all the lovecraftian sea monsters lurking in the surrounding waters as well as all the evil murdering ghosts coming from the Shadow Isles (the Harrowing is just the high season, they come during the rest of the year too).
Love this, pls more? Feed my never ending greed for lore of runterra, keep me up to date with the latest news. Honestly one of my favorite RUclips channels. Keep it up man!
They've had the lore building on point for years. My fear, along with others, fear they can't balance anything to keep it fun. They can tell a story for sure so I don't have a doubt that anyone that plays this won't love the story.
We all make fun of Riot´s game balance, but, jokes aside, they have one of the most balance games. When a champion is absolutely broken its because it has a 55% winrate instead of the average 52%, thats nothing compared with the bast mayority of other games outhere, and those extreme cases very rarely last longer than 2 weeks, being fix in the constant updates they apply. They have problems in the game, and i dont even play league anymore, but ask anybody who ACTUALLY knows about gamebalancing, someone who its not gonig to rant about the game because they favorite champions or playstyle is not strong rightnow or because "they cant climb in rank because all those broken champs", and you will found that Riot actually makes a really good job.
@@araragid3cimo77 i think that balance in mmo's also lends regard to character progression and loot acquiring and what that loot does for each class/character.
Part of me hopes Riot asks you to voice an NPC as an easter egg or add you in as an NPC like they did with Ruined King. Honestly as someone who has played MMOs since I was like 7, I am very exited to explore Runeterra in a more fresh open world rather than a more confined area. I personally hope there is a SWTOR feel to the game in terms of story interactions but with a bit more emphasis on broader character personality rather than a more basic darkside and lightside choices. Like for instance if there were 3 different competing vales like. Merciless and Compationate. Strict and easy going. Honest and deceitful. There are probably better values to use as an example and I understand a too complex system won't do well but I do enjoy the thought process that goes on behind this kind of story writing and would thoroughly enjoy a choose your own path type game for the story/main questing of the MMO. Honeslty the only thing I would complain about is any forced PvP and thats just becuase I'm terrible at PvP in MMO formats
Open world is certain, but I'm hoping they go a bit off-road with the exploration, I'm hoping exploring the world is a real treat and not too grindy, just a nice mixture of both.
just imagine the shadow isles expantion, and the one who gives the quest's is the same npc that helps the players in the ruined king game, let us have Necrit voiced by Necrit giving lore and quest's to the player, it would be glorious
I imagine Ionia would have an amazing dungeon / side quest with Sett's fighting pits. You'd start off as a rookie fighter and move your way up either figthing NPCS from all across Ionia or other players. And eventually you'd end up fighting Sett himself at the end and I feel like it'd be a great way to earn money later on.
my hope was that the game introduces sett's arena as the more competetive side of pvp (1v1, 2v2, 4v4) and the way you unlock it is through a side quest with sett and we learn more about his backstory with his mom and otherwise, until we get to the point in the relationship with him where he sees the players as kind of business partners and people he can work with that are great fighters, allowing us to get pvp currency and pvp specific rewards. Since sett has reach, those pvp items don't always have to fit a specific aesthetic theme either.
I remember playing the bilgewater event and how amazing it was, I loved the story telling, the events happening in the story affecting the game. I’ve always wanted an MMO for league of legends and I remember way way back in season 7 wondering if there was one in the works at that time and sadly there wasn’t. I just really don’t want to get my hopes up for this like I did with new world, I loved the concept, loved the beta with friends but the release was such a shame
I'm a Warcraft universe fan and completely ignorant of League, but this video made me excited about the universe and lore of it. Lots of similarities that I like about WoW is here. Probably the first MMO (and maybe even a game) that I imagine being consumed into and that I want to experience. Now I'm waiting for this MMO too! :) thanks
They could start during the noxian invasion of Ionia and have the various regional start stories converge with all factions assisting Swains coup. Either as followers of Swain for noxians or as a lesser of two evils to halt noxian expansion for the others. This already has a good follow-up, as Swain's coup is what scares the black rose into inadvertently awakening azir and the first expansion could be set in shurima.
Holy cow I loved every second of this video, the way you narrate over eat region for people who don't even understand the game is incredible. Along with the great visual aids and beautiful insight on each regions stories in a condensed format. Basically what i'm trying to say is amazing video keep it up.
Considering how much they invested in cinematic, I would think they try to emulate the success of Final Fantasy with a long story format. it would give them depth without 120 levels of grind. But tab targeting would be very damning to a stagnant style not in-line with the speed found in the moba. What if perhaps players searched for moved sets for their combos to craft a character like blade and soul or other non-traditional mmos where game knowledge is equal to reaction and creativity. With changes being further apart from the moba, the balance team might get the chance to make truly interesting fights, and would love to see nightfall aoe TPK a party.
Listen, this happened in WoW and FF14 itll happen here too. very small portion of the audience give a fuck about end game gameplay. Majority will come to play the story and leave between expansions. Theres no point in giving customisation on combos, every MMO player will go check the Wiki see what the meta build is and copy it on week 1. Welcome to MMOs where build varieties and game knowledge dont matter. The only thing that does matter is Tmog, Character customisation and Mounts. everything else is secondary.
Honestly I just can't wait to explore the scale of it all like the immortal bastion is gonna be so huge and there's gonna be so much to explore it will be awesome
Funny you say that because they can literally look at the engineer class in Guild wars 2 and the mech suit class in Aion for inspiration. They did great in those classes respectfully
Oddly enough, one of my favorite parts of Skyrim was the College of Winterhold. If Piltover similarly has a quest or series of quests that allow me to role play as a student at the Academy, I would honestly love that.
No lie, ever since I started league in 2016 I have absolutely loved its lore. The settings, the characters, all felt so alive and full of depth I couldn't get enough. I've always loved the lore of games, and in league I found the perfect place for those deep dives that us lorelets love so much. Hell, even though I don't play the game anymore I keep coming back to league again and again simply because it's lore is so damn rich. So, I'll just say thanks for doing what you do with this channel. It's great to see a kindred spirit who recognizes league's lore for the depth and richness it has.
have fun mate, i've ran like 6 different Runeterra campaigns (and many more oneshots). Need a little tweaking with races & items, but it can be really good. Esp. if you enjoy the setting.
hearing all these synopsis is making me fall in love with the Runeterran lore all over again, been a long time audience of the channel so Ive been keeping up. Hearing the lore again is getting me so excited of whats to come. Also, wouldnt it be cool if we had a capture/taming mechanic in the mmo? Like we can befriend/capture/tame any creature we want. Youre probably thinking "Pokemon inspired" but theres a different game I have in mind and its an rpg game.
holy moly. I know 0% about this universe as I never even touched lol or saw someone play it, but man do I want to play this mmo now. the world building is S-tier in the S-tier category
I have adored the lore of league since my friend introduced me to it through your Ornn videos in 2019, when i started playing. It is without a doubt the best fictional universe i have ever felt immersed in and cannot wait for any release surrounding it, be it a comic, a short story or a game. It has been really dissapointing to see most of Riot comletely disregard or ignore it. Aside from Forge and Legends of Runeterra i feel like for the most part it is largely untapped. Which is why I am so excited for the MMO. It will finally give lore enjoyers a full experience focused on it at the forefront.
They could handwave this by giving a quest where you get some item that stops the worst of it, but buff items that prevent hazards and improve movement speed and stats would be fun.
I hope there's a means to just keep playing at your own pace without much FOMO :( Also it'll be interesting if each region offered very unique experiences amongst each other. It'll be cool to try and figure how other players come from other regions because they form different habits or experiences in the same game
Necrit I seriously love your videos literally every single one of them, from the comedy you add into them like the Star Guardians PvE copium to something simpler like the "why do you think im wearing hats" joke. The fluency in which you express all the information you have to say and the great tone of voice you have. And of course, the thing that you are mostly known for, the vast knowledge you have about the League Universe lore and the passion you show every time you talk about any of these topics because of course, its something you enjoy. Keep up the great content and I wish you the best of the best lore father!
Glad to see you back Necrit. Always a pleasure to see you breaking down League of legends, Legends of Rune Terra and many more lore. You helped me love this universe even more.
not really related but one of my big hopes for the shadow isles is that Gwen, Yorick, and Maokai work together to cleanse it and rebuild the blessed isles, Gwen in particular seems to be a key player in this as we see with her LoR cards that she used the hallowed mist to change some of the wraiths into The Hallowed Court
god I hope they nail the mmo. I've always wanted to actually explore and be a part of the world.
The man the myth and the legend.
The worry is that they make a game with interesting lore and world, but very uninteresting gameplay and immersion.
@@TheCooderix But why are you comparing it to Lost Ark?

Riot aren't exactly the pinnacle of innovation either and they're known to cut corners, such as with Ruined King and Hextech, which aren't even made by Riot.
Their games tend to be really basic, albeit very well made, so tackling an innovative, immersive MMO that isn't just Lost Ark 2.0 seems unlikely to me, but who knows. I'm really intrigued either way, I think their universe has a lot of potential, i'm just trying to temper my expectations.

I think Piltover and Zaun will most likely be the main hub cities for when they open up Shurima IF Azir doesn't want us in his empire, or just to make Piltover and Zaun be a neutral hub for Demacia and Noxus.

Yup, they will take anything that will strengthen the nation and incorporate it into their culture and way of life. They are very much like how Rome was at the height of it's power. Join and become strong together, or be annihilated.
It's not only battle strength, in the description of noxus it also includes like commercial or political abilities
Not only battle wise. Anything that you can do to help the military from developing weapons, blacksmithing, alchemy, cooking, medicine, teaching, etc... As long as you're good and loyal to the empire, you can succeed in any area of the Noxian Empire.

I think someone did make a video on what the playable races there cuold be
I would love to see bandle city. Maybe they could make it so you turn into a yordle when you enter it
Pretty sure he did already do a video on the potential races when the announcement was first made, whenever that was. I would go to his channel and put in "MMO" in the search and you'll probably find it
man this video was absolutely incredible. Your narration was so smooth and easy to follow, plus the incredible visuals , absolutely amazing. Must have been so challenging to sum up all of runeterra but you made it look effortless
PLEASE do a class one!!! I am so curious about what region specific ones will be and all of that!!

@@fupa1503 Everyone said the same thing about arcane and look how jaw droping that was, even the rating prove it. I honstly have high hope for this
@@fupa1503 Well, i agree that the games riot has produced never where the absolute best in their fields or maybe equal with other games, why i trust riot with what it does though is that, except the ziggs rythm game (which was really more of a side thing) riot never really had a flop. It always archieved what it aimed to do, valorant was meant as a competetive heavy tactical shooter and now is one of the best in that, same even with legends of runeterra, in my opinion it is a really solid card game.

Man, PLEASE make the other videos, this one made me fall in love even more with the lore and made me really excited for the upcoming MMO, so the visual material would be fantastic
YHEA HE NEEDS TO DO IT
I've been talking a lot to my friends about how the MMO will be, like in regards to gameplay and playstyle.
@@iceyywastaken2689 A souls-like approach is nice for solo games or small scale cooperative games but for an MMO, it wouldn't be good.

Well 2 regions actually, since Nilah is from another region that is neighbors with camavour.
nope since the company with 3000 employees apparently only has 1 person to manage their own website hence why a bunch of champs on the league website still show their old kits and havent had their stuff update :/

I don't think an MMO would work. Nobody wants to play as characters made by their own. Limited character customization(unless they go Korean MMO route). @@xPhantomxify lol cope harder

Been saying they should do an MMO since 2014 and more than happy they are actually doing it
bro noone can kill wow, only wow can kill itself.
Considering the impact of Arcane, Piltover/Zaun is definitely going to be one of the base regions.
@@Mediados So maybe we will find Demacia, Noxus, Piltover and Zaun at launch... that would be amazing im so pressed
If that would be the case they would have to make the mmo its own seperate canon which imo isnt a bad option
Are you implying that Syndra might collaborate with Aurelion Sol to defeat Targon?

Is there anywhere i could learn about the lore like the game or comics or has this guy summarised everything?
I think we can thank Legends of Runeterra for most of the canonical art, lore and worldbuilding we get outside of just whats happened to the champions in their backstory
It would be cool if Mt. Targon had a quest line where the player makes their way to the top and gets to pick an aspect to ascend into, perhaps gaining a buff or special skill or ability tied to that aspect.
maybe make the questline extremely hard and grant a special title, and other rewards
terrible idea, the gods only pick one host so having multiple aspects of the same god running around would completely ruin the story.
You could even add a neutral boon that doesn't require allegiance to a specific demigod but rather you climbed the Mountain to test yourself.

bro have you even heard their champion theme, kda, arcene theme, etc. they release a masterpiece one after another, don't even bother yourself to doubt their audio team.
And then after people Ascended, we will have a GvG in Summoner's Rift. (or kinda)

@@itsgonnabeokay9341 Absolutely, also mount Targon ascension can be like your typical infinite floors tower type of challenge
fuck me bro.... If I can actually sail a ship and not just fast travel I'm just on a mountain of hype at this point....
please not Lost Ark, it is so fucking boring travelling 5mins every single time. after 200 hrs I stopped playing that shitty game because it is also pay2win
"weaker threats"
Uhhh...
Keep it up man!
each zone has it's own type of magic. It will be interesting to see how the character gear plays off of it.
I think you've been playing LoL for too long. Balance, on the grand scheme of things, is VERY low on the priority for most MMO players.
Balance is the most least thing ppl will pay attention to in MMO unless you are pvp only 24/7 LMAO
Nah, I'm afraid they won't be able to balance their lore xP
@@araragid3cimo77 i think that balance in mmo's also lends regard to character progression and loot acquiring and what that loot does for each class/character.
As someone who stopped playing the game around season 6, I had no idea the lore had evolved so much.
I think ghostcrawler said something about pvp and that they focus on it that much
Open world is certain, but I'm hoping they go a bit off-road with the exploration, I'm hoping exploring the world is a real treat and not too grindy, just a nice mixture of both.
just imagine the shadow isles expantion, and the one who gives the quest's is the same npc that helps the players in the ruined king game, let us have Necrit voiced by Necrit giving lore and quest's to the player, it would be glorious
i never had an mmo for myself, this would be amazing for me. what a life experience to get a good MMO for the time released in the next few years
you dont understand what its like for us 2000 kids. it hurts for us
I imagine Ionia would have an amazing dungeon / side quest with Sett's fighting pits. You'd start off as a rookie fighter and move your way up either figthing NPCS from all across Ionia or other players. And eventually you'd end up fighting Sett himself at the end and I feel like it'd be a great way to earn money later on.
Kinda like Bizmo's Brawlpub beneath Stormwind
🤣🤣
That would be so cool imagine beating sett up with a scrawny character
@@sai_neko_reddy let me solo him
my hope was that the game introduces sett's arena as the more competetive side of pvp (1v1, 2v2, 4v4) and the way you unlock it is through a side quest with sett and we learn more about his backstory with his mom and otherwise, until we get to the point in the relationship with him where he sees the players as kind of business partners and people he can work with that are great fighters, allowing us to get pvp currency and pvp specific rewards.
I just really don’t want to get my hopes up for this like I did with new world, I loved the concept, loved the beta with friends but the release was such a shame
back in the day where they literally killed off a champion for a week. good times.
Bring back black market brawlers. The items were so cool and we even got Deadman's Plate from there.
Been waiting for more MMO coverage from Necrit!
:) thanks
Thanks for this high quality video necrit
Would genuinely appreciate it if Riot made a League of Legends MMO, I miss playing good ones.
they are working on one
They are, though it’s still early in development
Did you watch the video
They are! It's been in the works for a while now.
If every thing goes into Riot's way. expect the MMO from them by 2026 or less. "IF" it goes smoothly
Here from BaldmanCold... Never played LoL. This video is awesome! Now I want this game. Nice job!
Holy cow I loved every second of this video, the way you narrate over eat region for people who don't even understand the game is incredible. Along with the great visual aids and beautiful insight on each regions stories in a condensed format. Basically what i'm trying to say is amazing video keep it up.
I have no words to describe how amazing your storytelling is.
I wanna see you talk more about the mmo! I wanna know what kind of classes we're getting
Having like Ingeneur-Class would be awesome. Building Stuff like turrets, shooting with lasers or even Mech Suits. Would fit perfectly to Piltover
Heimerdinger?
or maybe a shock grenade?
Funny you say that because they can literally look at the engineer class in Guild wars 2 and the mech suit class in Aion for inspiration. They did great in those classes respectfully
Oddly enough, one of my favorite parts of Skyrim was the College of Winterhold. If Piltover similarly has a quest or series of quests that allow me to role play as a student at the Academy, I would honestly love that.
like gta bully but more open world of piltover?
Riot should hire this guy as project manager or something to help this MMO come true
No, his mindset and creativity is too close to WoW
I hope we'll be able to make some relevant choices like siding with Lux, Sylas or Jarvan leading to different finales of the demacia story
Love the video dude! This is the fun stuff to talk about right now in my opinion, I love thinking about the world itself!
Would be cool if we had a mission to investigate the woods while hiding from fiddlle
thats sounds fucking awesome dude
"hiding from fiddle" funniest joke I have ever seen.

Really? Most of the lore did and still does not make much sense and they have been rewriting lore a lot over the years.
This also happens to be exactly what I need to set up a DnD campaign on Runeterra, thanks Necrit!
have fun mate, i've ran like 6 different Runeterra campaigns (and many more oneshots).
I can't wait to come find you in the MMO

@@Kindred_Lamb A spiritual journey is still a journey
They did a story game not so long ago: Ruined King: A League of Legends Story
@@notdepressed7166 yeah I loved it. I mentioned forge ruined king comes under that
@@in_sect404 oh my bad didnt know
I've been playing LoL casually for the last decade , it would be so amazing to immerse into a MMO !! really can't wait to explore.. in 6 to 8 yrs.
I really hope every region has some debuff or buff based on your faction- because we know being on Demacian soil would really kill your magic potency.
They could handwave this by giving a quest where you get some item that stops the worst of it, but buff items that prevent hazards and improve movement speed and stats would be fun.
Demacia cant be playable. Its lore is too restrictive
I hope there's a means to just keep playing at your own pace without much FOMO :(
Also it'll be interesting if each region offered very unique experiences amongst each other.
Keep up the great content and I wish you the best of the best lore father!
more of this please. the mmo is so far away but i need the theories drip fed into my veins
LMAO
Glad to see you back Necrit. Always a pleasure to see you breaking down League of legends, Legends of Rune Terra and many more lore. You helped me love this universe even more.
not really related but one of my big hopes for the shadow isles is that Gwen, Yorick, and Maokai work together to cleanse it and rebuild the blessed isles, Gwen in particular seems to be a key player in this as we see with her LoR cards that she used the hallowed mist to change some of the wraiths into The Hallowed Court
