I’ve been doing this for a little while now, since ink pads are more accessible for me with a small workspace. Works great with versafine ink pads as well
Oh man, I've never seen this....I'll be paying more attention to magazines in the free box at the library and bringing some home. This could keep a body busy for a long time, thank you so much!
Wow! Thanks for sharing your find. I have tons of the Distress Oxide pads. I was gonna dig holes tomorrow, but I think I will play with my Gel Plate instead. 😀
Okay. Just wow. First let me say that I had yet to be convinced to even do photo transfer period because I was like just why??? But I like what you have done here!!! Just wow!
Thank you for staring this, I’ve never seen image transfer done with this method, I’ve shared your video because it will be of interest to others like myself.
What a great technique and kudos for crediting your source. I haven't tried it, but if someone does want to use watercolor paper, maybe the hot press will be smooth enough.
Great idea making use of geli plate. I am going to try it icing my art sealer spray at the end rather than gel medium to seal the image. Tanks for the idea (and Leandre too!).
WOW ... WOW WOW I am so impressed... I want to watch this again. Thank YOU so much for sharing this great video... Do you have any other video doing this same thing?
Thank you! I have a few shorts with this technique, however, I only discovered it this week. I will be using this technique in tomorrow’s video. Stay tuned! 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina Yes, I want to. I am looking through some old National Geographics to find a good image. I lived the image you used. It does have to be glossy, doesn't it?
Awesome!!! I must have subconsciously known you were about to show this foolproof technique, as I bought the first magazine I’ve bought in many years, only a few days ago, to try some image transfers 😁
Thank you for the demo. It's a great idea. I was wondering if it will work using our own photos printed on an inkjet? Or do they still need to be laser printed copies like usual? I have been successful with magazine transfers, but not my own printed photos.
You’re welcome! The photo still needs to be a laser print for this process to work. Inkjets won’t work. You could make an acrylic medium transfer with an inkjet photo. 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina I literally ordered a gel plate after watching this! I've done a lot of print making in collage but we never dealt with gel plates and this is something small and simple I can do in my basement studio! Thank you again for the inspiration!💜
Oooh, Ms. Trina you’ve got all us crafty guys and gals in a tizzy 😂 Definitely going to add this technique to my list for Junk Journal July pages! Thanks for sharing!!!
This seems almost too good to be true. I noticed she used Distress Ink and you used the Distress Oxide. I guess you can use either? I'm really excited to try this technique. This seems like it gets good results without a lot of trial and error. I'll be checking this out. Thanks for this and for sharing the original video. I like to use cardstock when I gel print so I don't have to adhere my print onto the cardstock. I'm wondering if Hammermill cover stock will work. It's very smooth and works great for hot foiling. Thanks again! I'm giddy!
I thought the same thing when I watched her video. But it really was that easy! I’m not sure the ink or oxide makes a difference. Probably more important is a dark color. I would imagine that card stock would work great. Just remember to seal it with acrylic medium so you can work over it. Can’t wait to see your results! 😍
I think the best part is not having to figure out how thin to apply the paint because it’s already the right consistency and it doesn’t dry super fast. Loving it! 😍
I have seen people use a silicone mat in place of the Gelli plate. However, I did not have great success with it. Check out Jane Fasse’s channel. She has the mat technique down. 😍

Is that versa fine claire also or just versafine
@@susanboyter9034 The one I currently have and recently used was the VersaCraft ink pad 😊

Hi Trina. Thank you so much for including me in your video. Your transfer turned out amazing. I'll have to dig out my Oxide inks again and play.

Great knowing can do it with oxide ..I have done it with Momento dye ink and copy paper and like you I don't wait for it to dry .. Thanks for this 🤩

That's all I use is Memento dye inks. Never saw his before. I'll have to give it a go. Thanks!
FYI, dye ink might stain your plate. It won’t ruin it but heads up. 😍

Did you use a jelli plate to start with, putting the oxide ink on jelli plate?
Yes! I used a Gelli plate! 😍
Wow! Thanks for sharing. Will this work with a photo?
For this technique you will need a laser printed photo. It should work then. 😍
I really need to try this!
YES! Do it! 😍

I think it would work. You can also use matte photo paper which doesn’t need to be sealed with acrylic medium. 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina Ooooo! Even better.
I forgot to add that when you use the matte photo paper you can’t reactivate the oxide inks. 😬
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina But that can be a good thing, depending on the project of course.
Way cool😮
