    Best aftermarket header for the money! I love mine, I also titanium wrapped mine before the install.

    Great video!! Solid, helpful information right here :) I'm currently doing this install as well! For the O2 sensor; I also had the problem of the wiring being too short, but was able to cut open the wiring braid and obtain enough lenght to run the O2 sensor safely. Just putting it out there in case it helps anyone! Keep it up, suscribed :)

      Much appreciated I think someone in the comments below listed an alternative O2S that wire length reaches.

    I have the older ceramic coated martelius header. To clear it i used a shorter oem toyota filter. 90915-YZZJ1, works like a charm.

      For anyone following this, I have an earlier XL and the shorter oem zzj1 filter didn't work for me. They may all be slightly different, but shorter filters are definitely worth a try before going crazy with relocation.

      Were you able to keep the oem sandwich plate and oil cooler?

      CM Autohaus yes, everything oem. But my car is eurospec so i don’t know if the sandwichplate is the same size as on a usdm car.

      CM Autohaus Forgot to get back at you. I have the smaller rwd sandwich plate. I can fit my hand between the filter and header. Made a quick video and put it up on my channel.

    Great videos & channel, thanks for all the info. I picked up a couple of these headers for my 16v bluetop and a friends 20v blacktop. Finally got all the parts together and was trying to install tonight. Had the thick sandwich plate issue on mine, looks like my only options are
    (1) find a redtop or 91 gts sandwich plate (good luck),
    (2) install a relocation kit or aftermarket sandwich plate (MRP? expensive, downtime),
    (3) lose oil cooler and seal filter direct to block (dont want to do this), or
    (4) use my thick plate with Wix 57035 filter and keep oem oil cooler(cheap and simple, thanks commenters & @seriouslylovingbacon!).
    Anything I missed there?
    Also, my friends 20v has a blockoff plate for a coolant passage at the firewall side of the head, right beside the bolt on cylinder #4 end, had to grind a notch in the flange to clear that. His engine is already missing the oil cooler plate, so no issues just sealing filter to block with a union.
    Otherwise, damn they look good... can't wait to get them buttoned up and driving again.

      Thank you for the support Will! If you plan to track/drift the car I would highly recommend an aftermarket thermostatic sandwich plate with BIG oil cooler. In the interm, the shorter Napa/Wix filter will be OK! I do NOT recommend losing the OEM oil cooler.

    Great overview! You say that these headers don't have a provision for EGR. If I wish to leave off (for off-road) do I just cap off the ends of the vacuum lines? Best!

    I've been struggling with this exact install for almost a month now. First, that's the correct sandwich plate. The smaller one is for a redtop small port (ae92 4age w/ cooler). I purchased a Greddy/Trust oil filter relocation kit hoping to solve this, but it does not clear also. There is also not enough room to run the usual sandwich plate with built-in cooler thermostat, so I had to run a full relocation with oil cooler kit with in-line thermostat direct to the block with a union. I wish I would have tried the short Wix filter first. For the o2, a new Bosch 12051 from Amazon is $23 and the wire is longer to just plug in. What a pain!

    • @CMAutohaus
      @CMAutohaus  4 года назад

      Possibly Zenki/3 rib blocks got the 1 piece (shorter) oem sandwich plate? Ive worked on a handful of cars (including my own) that came with the shorter sandwich plate. The Bosch O2 is a good tip!

      Well, I'm apparently having similar issues now! Brooke Eisen I hope you were able to sort your situation out! On my end, the headers are solid in place, and I tried the Napa Gold 1360 (2.5 in) filter, and unfortunately it does not clear.. Today I tried with the 2.11 in smaller 7890 filter and that one has another issue (!); the thread inside the filter is too far in the filter! I can't get it screwed in place... So I'm starting to look for either some kind of thread adapter or a redtop sandwich plate with oil cooler connections if I can find one somewhere.

    • @Brooke-Eisen
      @Brooke-Eisen 4 года назад +1

      @@seriouslylovingbacon I had to bolt the relocation kit directly to the block to clear (removed factory sandwich adapter and ran oil cooler line from the relocation kit). I didn't try the smallest filter in this video directly to the block, but I did try three different ones and none fit. Even if they did fit, then I had no oil cooler. It was a big pain.

      @@Brooke-Eisen Ok I see. Yeah I'm also trying to preserve the oil cooler absolutely. Alright thanks! Hoping I'll find a solution soon and get to do some driving :)

    And what about clearance for the XL header? Is it gonna make much of a difference?

    I'd like to run the Stock/OEM Muffler, with this Group A Header because I like a quieter sounding car. Will this be an OK route for me to go. The dreaded 2-3 crack on the OEM AE86 exhaust manifold finally owns me. 😜

      @@321CrashandBurn Much appreciated! I've seen plenty of oil filters/lines close to hot exhausts before. Although this is a "bandaid" I feel the shorter filter a safe an acceptable set up in this situation.
