Great video for sure, I really like seeing the VR6 engine being put together from top to bottom but it would be nice if you explained what the torque specs were on each bolt that "you're" tightening down rather than showing a fast forward video of it. It would help our future builders!
Torque specs are available thru the Factory Bentley Manual. Of youre undertaking this task especially as a first timer and you dont have the factory manual nearby youre setting off to fail. Its just common sense rhat this task requires plenty of planning ahead of time for it to go along smoothly and quickly
@@j.m.5995 Yes I'm well aware that having a factory manual will show you the torque specs, but it would have been nice to hear what some of are especially for people that haven't done something like this before, because not knowing what the spec is and just tightening it down by hand can either make or break the job.
@@Eurospec73 who would just tighten anything down without a torque wrench/specs on engine internals? not anyone that values their time or $ thats for sure.
I used your code for my rods. I appreciate the discount. I'm waiting on ARP mains for my build. For the 2.7t they're outta stock every where. They're saying middle of November before they are stocked again. So it's holding my build up. I even tried to find a used set to no avail. Same length are in stock. But mine are different length of course. Love the vids man. Keep on boostn.
not sure if those are L19 head studs but just some advice: ARP representer on a HP academy episode suggest to not use bare hands to handle L19, as they are sensitive to any moisture sweat acid etc which leads to hydrogen embrittlement.
Great video. Any advice for someone starting out on their 1st VR6 project build? I'd like to put a 3.2 in a A5 model BEETLE with an AWD conversion. Would getting a 2008 R32 roller be a good way to go? Thx
Let me ask you something Is just forging it any benefit? So imagine if I were to max out the engine Destroke it to 3.0 litre and forge the listing is that much difference in terms of keeping it na?
I’ve got the stage 5 from ringer in my BST A6. Only issue I’ve had in 5000 miles, (so far) is a bit of tob noise. Other than that it performs fantastic, love the feel of it as well. It’s not too stiff, and the engagement point isn’t bad either.

Hey Im doing the same build almost. I orderderd standard main and rod bearings. When u used plastic guage did all the bearing clearances check out or did u have to get any different sizes? Like did u get standard bearings? Or did u have to get different bearings?

Whats up man you have some cool content. I just timed a b5 2.8 and its off any suggestions? Changed CPS and MAF thinking it would solve it nope. Might have missed the marks.
It’s thinner than the old gasket used on this block and head. So using the metal gasket(thinner) instead of the fiber gasket (thicker) brings up the standard compression ratio

Max speeding rods🤣🤣🤣 fellas. Listen. Real talk. I have IE Tuscany rods in my bat 1.8t. They source the same blank batches from the same Chinese factory. Max speeding rods is direct. 100% not even close to the qc IE does and for a blueprinted engine... yeah you don't want Max speeding rods. It's like 3-4× as expensive as eBay rods. BUT... I roll around with buddies who budget built their cars years ago pushing 450-550 awhp @ 5k elevation for years with Max speeding rods. To be honest, there's been a few that ran into tolerance issues immediately, but like 95% had no issue and I wouldn't think 2x for the cost savings to get em unless you dropped 20k into a build. My Tuscany's have survived blowing TF up out of 3 motors now (2 were gates/conti timing belt shredding) so nothing too crazy, and have been running my daily fully built bat b5 for a few years now @ 200 miles per day. They are solid. That said... 200-300$ rods at this point have the same long term reputation where it's totally worth the tiny gamble
IE here for.my build totally chromoly steel, max isn't full chromoly, weigh more both weigh less than stock. IE rods all came balanced 6 id weight. Lightest in the world 4 the VR6
