  • Our First Time in Seoul, Korea and Asia. It's day 2 and in this travel vlog we will be visiting one of the best bakeries and trying out all kinds of croissants, of course we have to learn more Korean history, we were so lucky the national museum matched us with their best tour guide. After walking around the grounds of the museum, we head over to Myeong-dong to have traditional Korean drinks and street food and Olivia’s personal favorite tteokbokki.

There is no reason for you to apologize. As a Korean, I am not happy about calling Korean food in Japanese, but I can fully understand it. This is because Japanese culture was introduced to the West a long time ago and is familiar to them.😂

Thank you for introducing various aspects of Korea through beautiful videos.
From the video, I can see that you have various knowledge about Korean history and culture.
However, as pointed out in other comments, "gimbap" and "sushi" are actually completely different foods, although they are similar in shape.
It's ridiculous, but Japan and China still insist that the good things in Korea are always theirs.
For example, Hangeul, Hanbok, and even soccer player Son Heung-min say they belong to China.
In the past, Japan also ridiculed kimchi as a food eaten by "uncivilized Koreans," but suddenly claimed that kimchi was a Japanese food when kimchi became popular.
In China, Koreans claim that eating kimchi is bad for their brains, but all of a sudden, they claim that kimchi is a traditional Chinese food.
Thus, while this misnomer 'unintended' seems trivial, the majority of Koreans have a resistance beyond imagination.
Once again, thank you for introducing Korea with a beautiful and elegant video. I hope you have a great trip in the future.

Welcome to Korea Seoul Maria & Olivia
South Korea, particularly Seoul, has a shorter climate but it is sometimes colder than Siberia from mid-November to mid-March, and the summer months of late May to September are far hotter than Africa and Southeast Asia, which is why it is annoying to see a wide variety of healthy and tasty foods in the world. Seoul is a large city with a population of about 10 million, home to world-famous companies such as Hyundai Motor, Samsung, LG, SK, POSCO, and Hanwha. If divided into Gyeonggi Province and the nearby Tokyo region like Japan, the population will be as small as 25 million, a characteristic global metropolis with about half of South Korea's total population. Meanwhile, South Korea is a capitalist country where about 80 percent of its land is mountainous or highlands, making it difficult to distribute and sell logistics, but Koreans' diligence has overcome all these challenges. The huge West Sea is just 40 kilometers to the west and the East Sea is only 170 kilometers at best. So it is the only country on Earth that has to be so cold when the temperature rises a little to cover it up and vice versa. And in Seoul, the famous Han River, a very large river, crosses the heart of Seoul People might often think that rivers, seas and mountains give cool or clean air, but water generally provides tremendous moisture and humidity vapor. Some people also compare South Korea to Italy as a peninsula country, where Italians are not as patient or polite as Koreans, although they may be similarly hot-tempered as Koreans. It is South Korea that has developed to overcome such a harsh climate because of its close proximity to the palate-boosting ocean and mountains that are possible, rich in jade soil, and fantastically delicious and healthy foods with fresh ingredients and reasonable ways that even Koreans have never eaten them all

Gimbap and sushi are different foods...It's not the same just because you rolled it with seaweed....Sushi is a food that you have to dip in soy sauce, and kimbap is a food that you eat alone with various ingredients. Koreans may find kimbap unpleasant when they call it sushi.

Tteokbokki is one of the most trashy Korean foods. Originally, Tteokbokki was a royal dish made by mixing rice cakes, nuts, vegetables, and beef with a little soy sauce. However, tteokbokki has now turned into a spicy and sweet junk food. And in general, today's tteokbokki is made with wheat flour, not rice cake. Korea's traditional rice cakes, which have a thousand-year history, are made with almost no seasoning, so the ingredients retain their original flavor. Among over 100 types of Korean rice cakes, representative rice cakes include Songpyeon, Injeolmi, Gyeongdan, Baekseolgi, and Sirutdeok.

Anyway, the biggest difference between kimbap and maki sushi is that maki sushi contains a lot of vinegar, while gimbap contains very little vinegar and has sesame oil.

Is visiting korea worth it? Well lets be honest, everything is overpriced in korea except public transportation. Do people travel overseas by spending lots of money to enjoy transportation? No way. Considering price, there is no much things to see and enjoy. Thats why so many koreans try to go abroad because they know that situation.

I disagree, Korea is still affordable to me. Have you been to NYC, LA, Honolulu? Everything is more expensive and you have sales tax and extra tip.
