    Sean Connery will always remain the greatest Bond. I haven't seen this film for many years but I am going to take a look at it again soon. Anyway, I think that the visual style of the Sixties as well as the general look of that decade at least up until around 1967 fits Bond the most and therefore Sean Connery's first five Bond films are the quintessential Bond films, at least for me.

    • @dstfno
      @dstfno 4 года назад +11

      I agree that the character fits best in the cold war era of the 50's and 60's, as he was originally written. But I have the admit that the producers did brilliantly to reinvent the character time and time again and make him fit the later decades.

    Diamonds Are Forever is one of the middling yet seemingly hated and thus underrated James Bond films.
    I admit I still SUPER-WISH Sean Connery had done "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." This still was a good one to go out on.
    It had some really cool parts, including straight-up murder (allegedly) of Blofield, one of the best opening songs, some pretty
    cool showcasing of actual real technology being used/introduced on the market. The unsuspecting moment of the two girls
    placed who started beating the crap out of him was also well done. The oil right climax was also well done.

    I absolutely loved this movie and found it to be very entertaining. I admit Sean Connery got way out of shape in this movie but I'll take him in this movie than Roger Moore in any of his movies. I really don't get why some people didn't like it. It may not have been Sean Connery's best movie but it was fabulous - a great car chase scene in that Red Mustang, he got the crap beat out him by two chicks and a great fight scene in the elevator. One thing is certain, it was far better than Roger Moore's pathetic first two movies - Live And Let Die & The Man With The Golden Gun, which were absolutely horrible. Roger Moore really redeemed himself in The Spy Who Loved Me though. Sean Connery was the greatest James Bond actor of all time, nobody comes close.

    • @dstfno

    Huge fun, this one. Connery gets to show his gift for humour a lot more in this one, which is enjoyable. It’s sad the world wasn’t quite ready for the darker style of Bond film we saw in OHMSS, but Guy Hamilton really rescued the series at the time with his fun approach. Diamonds doesn’t deserve its lacklustre reputation. Connery was still the boss.

I'm commenting on the fact that at the time of this movie's release, they banked on the fact that everyone knew who Blofeld was, and yet they are showing him being killed in the trailer. Deception or not, it's kind of naff, because you want to draw people in thinking there is going to be a grand battle between two nemeses, not a quick kill.
