  • Crazy Legs a little more in-depth, narrated by Brian aka Bfunkphenomenon from Soulful Fitness Roller Skate Training.
    This is a supplemental video to the 2018, 12-minute breakdown & buildup of the most characteristic of all freestyle rhythm roller skate moves.
    A little more in detail about the most important aspects to get your Crazy Legs smooth and fluent and how to avoid developing knee issues and other potential injuries, due to questionable form and practice.
    Although we have a very free structure of training (at the Es Quint training center) and always tailor made to the trainee, there are three things that we don't allow during our sessions:
    1. skating with your eyes closed.
    2. skating with your hands in your pockets or behind your back.
    and up to a certain point in the beginning phase of learning roller skating skills 3. crazy legs pattern practice with cones.
    Number one & two, should need no explaining, obviously. Number 3 is explained in this snippet.
    0:00 intro

    Takeaways from this session:
    * Hip drive - Initiate from the hips.
    * Move skates simultaneously.
    * Attention intermediate position.
    * Side travel variation.
    * Variation in strokes.
    * Avoid excessive endorotation in the hips (heel outwards), to limit torque action in the kneejoints.
    * This snippet is dedicated to all who have attended the international seminars from 2014-2020, and to all trainees of the Es Quint Foundation.

    Oh my GOD. This makes so much sense. My stance has been way, way too wide and I have been doing way too much of an exaggerated motion. I’d also like to state that, since skating, I have developed a knee issue. It makes so much sense now to use the hips to control your skates.

    This is pure gold. Your previous video was already awesome. It is the only one that made sense to me. I’ve been drilling it and having a lot of fun with it just trusting the proces and the steps you described. Also the music in the previous video helps me a lot. It is so much fun , you can take it slow and still groove. By drilling it I discoverd how important my hips are because I have trouble bringing my front foot to the intermediate position. Watching your new tutorial makes so much sense to me. I could never understand how drilling the cones would help me with crazy legs because I missed the intermediate position in the drill. Watching your new video is a real eye opener. This is pure gold thank you so much. Your previous venue looked really nice hope you find a new one real soon

    Thank you so much for this- I have been suspecting something was a bit wrong with my Crazy Legs for some time now, but I couldn't pinpoint what is was, what was missing. It's that hip drive you mention, and also I always come to the "heels out" position where you say I should mostly be doing feet straight forward. I'm excited to get on my skates later today and experiment with these techniques to make my CL look and feel better :D

  • @seersha2937
    @seersha2937 2 года назад

    Why this looks so smooth is because the movement comes from the hips and not from the bounce. Watch his torso, the movement is subtle and smooth as silk. You can tell a new skater by the bounce and choppy moves.

Thank you so much. Do you have any videos on how to engage hips while not learning a move? I also notice your wheels seem farther back on your skates if that makes any sense? Am I correct about that? And why would that be? Is it that you have no toe stop and that make the wheel look farther back? Sorry for the silly questions

      Info on this topic coming up soon! In the meanwhile, most important thing is to have comfortable boots, so they won't trouble you during your sessions. Plates and wheels can come at a later time, as you build your skills. After a while, you can determine better what you need, according to how your style and preferences for moves evolvrs and takes shape. The surface you skate at the most, helps to make a general choice for wheel hardness. Hybrids are best, they will keep your horizon and options to develop skills broad and interesting. More coming up!
