Sherralins videos are superb. Well worth a watch. She does will groupage , fruit and vino to espana. But she gives loads o advice to drivers and the ferry is usually caen - Portsmouth.

I remember when all their trailers had eat more chips on the side and were called Mortimer! I was blind siding a wagon into a small yard in Slough and the early hours and a bloke walked up from a Mortimer’s wagon and shook my hand and said you made that look easy lad.. I was only in my early 20s. He offered me a Job with Mortimer and was apparently a family member of them.. every time I see one of their wagons it reminds me of that back in 2005ish. Lol

Well, that was a bit of a trip down memory lane, I was a regular at Castets back in the 90s and 00s, when I was driving for Westemann. As well as doing a regular run down the same route as this into Portugal, the border parking at Vilar Formosos was always dreadful, so not just because of the open borders. The IP5 was always a truck killer if running heavy, going up or down, but an experience. I don't think the A23 was there when I was running this route, so we ran nationals going to Guarda from Castelo Branco, where we used to load car parts for Ford in Southampton.
I guessed you were heading to Estoril, as I think it is the only race track in Portugal. In another company I worked for, we had a depot about 1/4 mile from the track, and often spent weekends in Cascais parked in the town. I am going to guess you are a Bike racing team?
Hi Jim, there’s another track further down in Portimao. I’ve done both with bikes but I’m currently on for a (British) Spanish F4 Championship Team & sat in a hotel in Cascais 😃
i dont know why i just hate driving left hand trucks just feels wrong i like being by the curb .

Actually Europe [less Russia] is small. Come to Oz where we have cattle stations bigger than Euro countries. And our smallest state Tasmania, the one left off many maps is bigger than Belgium and Holland.
As for trucks?? All baby things, generally single drive and single tyre axles. Maybe 25 ton max load?? Try 40 plus tandem drive 42 foot tri axle trailers. That is without B doubles or road trains.
Compact trucks for compact countries!! And yes I have been there and driven there.

How come you don’t have a hotel ? I was a motorsport truckie back in the early 2000 and we had a hotel every single night. Also no sat nav just a map and knowledge.. great scenery that’s the bit I can say I miss
Hotel whenever I want mate, just sometimes I like to push on. Cba finding hotel, booking, checking in, breakfast, checking out - half the bloody days gone 😃. Sat navs just for ease & I guess things move on & change eh 😁. Ta for watching though 👍🏽
I was part of a three catering truck convoy on the Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me. I was driving a new Fiat van converted to a kitchen towing a double axel box trailer loaded with catering equipment. The other two were an Avis fridge truck and another larger kitchen truck both TK Bedford's. We set of from Pinewood Studios, Bucks, UK and caught the night truck ferry to Calaise, then onto Venice where we boarded another commercial ferry now, we did not know the timing of this ferry only the sailing date, so we made a dash across Italy to catch it. The trucks were mismatched on speed and hill climb power, so we were overtaking one another to keep best speed rather than travel at slowest trucks speed.
Sailed across to Alexandria and drove on down to Cairo, set up locations at the pyramids and three locations in town. The it was a huge convoy down the Nile to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, now that an adventure and Cubby Broccoli the producer came aboard and cooked for the crew. We also had a birthday party at the pyramids for Richard Keel the giant with steel teeth.
The drive back home was at a leisurely pace, even getting stuck in Alex for 10 days waiting for a ferry.
I liked Egypt so much I worked on a road tunnel under the Suez Canal, a new sewer system in Cairo and a three-month stint on the Metro, mining under some dodgy looking 15 story buildings. seven years in total.
Now I drive in Vietnam where any lane is the right lane and the biggest vehicle has Right of Way.
