I own this exact model, upgraded to 32GB and 2TB of storage, as you had mentioned you might do in the beginning of this video. Love it as the gaming version of the XPS 15 (great build quality, bright screen, same size/footprint, powerful CPU, good battery life), though it does require a good bit of tinkering to have it run well. Repaste, undervolt both CPU and GPU, and potentially raise the back of the laptop to increase airflow to the fans on the bottom. I can play Division 2 at high/ultra settings at ~80-100FPS with the GPU at ~76c and CPU at 81-83C with zero throttling below 3.9GHz. If you lower the CPU clock speed to 3.5GHz or so, you can get the CPU down to the low-70s and give the GPU some room to clock into the 1600s more frequently.

So just wanted to update ya Jay. I received my Mid 2019 today (i7 9750h version) the Display ribbon cable is not over the ram anymore. It runs between them, and it's also got a bunch of tape like stuff all around it. I am guessing it's a heatshield. The temps on the 9750h version are also vastly superior. Neither the CPU or GPU go over 75c under any load I have tested. The Vapor Chamber is not black, and it's thicker than 8750h version (well the 2018 version anyway). That's with no UV, a 150mhz GPU overclock, Gaming Mode (Creator mode is gone) and no repaste so stock. A repaste will likely yield better results. However it's not really needed with those temps. I did add thermal pads between the VC and backplate, however I don't think that would account for the drop. It's Razers doing or the 9750h is cooler chip or something.
@10:00 why would you play at max settings and 60-70fps? In a game like battlefield where ur not stopping to look at every beautiful texture/effect, you should put the setting down to medium/high and try to get the game closer to your 144hz refresh rate. 144hz will improve your gaming experience in a fps title way more than ultra settings. Ultra settings in games like these is only really useful for screenshots imo.
Hey Jay, don't forget for a HUGE price reduction there's the Base model, which has the same CPU and RAM, but has a smaller battery to give room for a 2.5 storage solution. For (currently) 1499, it comes with a 1060 Max-Q, a 60 Hz (yuck) panel, 128 SATA m.2 SSD, and a 1 TB HDD. For an extra $100 you get a 256 GB nVME m.2 and a 2 TB HDD. Definitely something to consider for someone that wants the Razer engineering but is on a significantly tighter budget.

For the 2nd stick of ram I just removed the tape keeping the ribbon lifed it gently and upgraded with 2 x 16GB sticks of hyperx 2666 CL15 (2018 Model with 1070 Max Q). M.2 drive is also easy to upgrade, installed a Samsung 970 evo 2tb. . I installed thermal pads on everything (m.2, memory etc). I've the same ifix kit. Highly recommended.
INCORRECT JAY! My best bud plays Skyrim and GTA V with me on his Surface Pro 4. Now those are old games, and he does have the odd crash now and again, and if he’s driving a car the world doesn’t render fast enough to drive properly, doesn’t have enough space for his games... that’s all on the lowest quality settings with lowered resolution of course... Ya we’re hoping to build him a nice tower next year 😁 Love your videos Jay!
Aside from anything else one might say about Razer, this laptop is freaking gorgeous. I'm not an Apple fan, but their unibody MacBooks have always been beautiful, and I'm glad everyone copied that design. You just hope the thermals are better!
@@SICKBOYSALONICA most gaming laptops top out at 85C, and from what Jay said, there were no huge throttling problems. 1600MHz RTX 2070 with no massive frame drops? I'll take it.
lol @jay for not showing the CPU temp of the 8750h while in BF5....because the CPU temp would've easily been near 90+degrees...Razer laptops are like MacBooks; horrible thermals, good looks.
Yeah...many of the 8750h laptops run better than the 9750h versions because you can typically undervolt the 8750h by -150mV and maintain 3.9 Ghz consistantly. the 9750h runs hotter and doesn't undervolt as much, and typically thermally throttles a lot more, resulting in sustained speeds under 3.9Ghz. So the higher max speed is mostly irrelevant in a < 24mm thin-and-light laptop. In the 26mm+ range the 9750h has more thermal room to stretch it's legs and may prove worth the upgrade. Undervolting my Legion Y740 8750h, I never see over 92 degrees even when rendering a video. Under full stress test scenario I will get to 94-95 and see slight throttling, but that's worst case scenario and not real world use.
Cyber Locc No, I can’t show you because this is RUclips. There are plenty of laptops that are portable (subjective term anyway) with far better cooling than the Razer Blade laptop.
Dude, can you please review the new advanced model of the Razer blade 15 containing a 240Hz panel and or a OLED 4K screen featuring 9th generation cores. That would be great.
It would be a perfect laptop for me, seriously. i plan on selling my gaming desktop in favor of something small and portable. I'll mostly play light games like indies and some MOBA. Maybe the cheaper variant will suffice.

Nothing can touch MSI GT83 VR laptop (MSI dragon laptop from 2017) with two GTX 1080 SLI that I tested and overclocked over my channel. That laptop is still the king since 2017 and it has a real GTX 1080 GPU in it! Even never MSI RTX 2080 GPU laptops can not even get close to that performance!
Guarantee that 8750H is thermal throttling, especially in BF5, probably down to 3.0-3.3ghz. Undervolt it in XTU to -.140 to -.160v and you'll see the CPU boost to 3.9ghz on all cores under load.
I upgraded my gigabyte aero 15x to 2 * 2TB nvme m.2, 64gb ram at 2666hz, repasted the cpu/gpu, and it is amazing. The last year or two, laptops have become very viable for almost every task.

There is 2 m.2s in the 17 inch pro model. You have to remember how small this thing is. While it's a 15.6 inch screen, it's physically the same size as my wife's 13 inch Dell.
Cyber Locc I think it can be done though. The Aero 15 has two M.2 slots and a 94 Whr battery. I’ve seen this laptop side-by-side with the razor and they’re pretty much the same size. But as Jay said just stick a 1 or 2 TB drive in there and we’ll be good to go 👍
I got the same model laptop but had to underclock it for it to stay cool. It was hitting 101c on the CPU a couple times. now it's in the 70s-80s while gaming. I love it because it's so much more portable than my old one.
@@tarantula1337 Spending that much on a laptop to then have to spend additional money? No, if Razer have such a hard on for "Thin and light" at the expense of functionality and for a high price to boot, I expect THEM to provide the adapter.

Hi Jay. You do know that you no longer need a gaming laptop to play most demanding games. Shadow gaming by Shadow Tech; will allow you to stream games from a remote virtual computer with performance specs to an older laptop as long as you have greater than 15/15 MB speed internet connection.. And the price is $9.95 for 10 trial and $29.95 per month after that.
It is the best reason to get a THICC gaming laptop: Living in two places. Because they suck as a mobile device but you do have a nice gaming PC when you're somewhere indoor (plugged in). If they both have good internet you could attempt streaming though.
Guys, I live in the same scenario and had a gaming laptop for a while, then a gaming desktop with the gaming laptop then went a bit poorer and needed a fix.. I was tired of gaming on a laptop as well. So I sold both and built up a mini itx gaming pc which I carry on once in two weeks and I am very satisfied ! And, it was much cheaper then buying a laptop with the same specs, plus I can upgrade it in many ways if I want.

As laptops go this sounds like a pretty nice unit. I am not a fan of the fact that the GPU is essentially cut down with reference to its desktop name-sake but as far as it goes where the manufacturer can effect it the laptop seems to be quite good.
I overclocked my 2060 max q to +200MHZ on the core and it seems stable. Doesn't get that hot either - mid 70's generally. Think the max q design limits are sort of circumvented by overclocking.

I would like to see the latest revision of the ASUS FX505 TUF laptop with the new 3750H, Max P 1660 ti, and a 120hz monitor.
Because it's a computer review you twat?!
Hmmmm looks like a cool laptop!

I fix it link in the description. Welcome to Jayz tech tips 😂
Jay this is your latest video so little of-topic .... I´d like to say thank you to you, because today I build my first cutom loop thanks to yours videos. THANK YOU
4:52 "Im actually using my trusty iFixIt kit which my wife got me for fathers day" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
For the 2nd stick of ram I just removed the tape keeping the ribbon lifed it gently and upgraded with 2 x 16GB sticks of hyperx 2666 CL15 (2018 Model with 1070 Max Q). M.2 drive is also easy to upgrade, installed a Samsung 970 evo 2tb. . I installed thermal pads on everything (m.2, memory etc). I've the same ifix kit. Highly recommended.
Jay i love all your videos, i enjoy watching your experiments with the cooling and the builds.

*Macbook Air 2017 has left the chat*
10:12 That’s a beauty of RTX there
I can't see the CPU temperatures while gaming? I believe they are just as important as the GPU temps?
Like 100 C°
@@Saigonas I suspect the same. Probably pinned on TJMax
Probably sitting close to 88 I have the 2060 model and that’s the highest it gets.
Cute laptop. But can it run Crysis like NASA?
You mean "Can it run Minecraft?"
Now is "but can it run Minecraft with path tracing?"
Aside from anything else one might say about Razer, this laptop is freaking gorgeous. I'm not an Apple fan, but their unibody MacBooks have always been beautiful, and I'm glad everyone copied that design. You just hope the thermals are better!
Pricey laptop, great option for gaming + portability. Go Razer!
AND A GOOD THERMALS 2 AHAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH WHAT A JOKE AHHAHAHHAHHAH
@@SICKBOYSALONICA most gaming laptops top out at 85C, and from what Jay said, there were no huge throttling problems. 1600MHz RTX 2070 with no massive frame drops? I'll take it.
Congrats on 2 million Jay. You da man!
lol @jay for not showing the CPU temp of the 8750h while in BF5....because the CPU temp would've easily been near 90+degrees...Razer laptops are like MacBooks; horrible thermals, good looks.
Can you show me a laptop that doesn't run the CPU around that? That has a GPU and is actually portable?
Just undervolt it a bit, problem solved.
@@gunndygaming Yeah, on my Razer Blade with 8750h I undervolted and reapplied paste and pads and I never go over 80°C.
Cyber Locc No, I can’t show you because this is RUclips. There are plenty of laptops that are portable (subjective term anyway) with far better cooling than the Razer Blade laptop.
Is there a reason why you didn’t show CPU temps while gaming? It seems like you only showed GPU temps.
Dude, can you please review the new advanced model of the Razer blade 15 containing a 240Hz panel and or a OLED 4K screen featuring 9th generation cores. That would be great.
i have that laptop :D
It would be a perfect laptop for me, seriously. i plan on selling my gaming desktop in favor of something small and portable. I'll mostly play light games like indies and some MOBA. Maybe the cheaper variant will suffice.
I would like to see a video about replacing the thermal paste and thermal pads on a laptop cause I'm not really sure what kind of paste and pads to use
Any type of paste, and google the pads, not that hard
8:10 People should demo gaming laptops more like this!
We want to see the frames, hear the fan sounds, and even hear the speakers!
dude you're disassembling the laptop when it's in the standby mode? WTH?
Nothing can touch MSI GT83 VR laptop (MSI dragon laptop from 2017) with two GTX 1080 SLI that I tested and overclocked over my channel. That laptop is still the king since 2017 and it has a real GTX 1080 GPU in it! Even never MSI RTX 2080 GPU laptops can not even get close to that performance!
How where your cpu temps? I have a 2018 razer blade 15 and my temps are constantly hitting 99 C when gaming
I’m getting 88 C max under the most demanding titles with the 2060 model. I have a 3 year warranty so I’m good.
Guarantee that 8750H is thermal throttling, especially in BF5, probably down to 3.0-3.3ghz. Undervolt it in XTU to -.140 to -.160v and you'll see the CPU boost to 3.9ghz on all cores under load.
0:50 Holy mother of RTX, so many RTX boxes. I want em. Only cause I think they have 2080 TIs in them though.
Love how my closed captioning interperates you're channel name as "Jay's $0.02" No lie. Too good!

please make a review of the alienware m15 with rtx 2080, and 240Hz screen
I upgraded my gigabyte aero 15x to 2 * 2TB nvme m.2, 64gb ram at 2666hz, repasted the cpu/gpu, and it is amazing. The last year or two, laptops have become very viable for almost every task.
But can it play Star Citizen?
Thank you for covering laptops - due to my career I'm using them as daily drivers these days. I would love to see a review of the Asus ROG GX701GS 17" (in the size close to my current old 15") laptop.
U know there's a 240 Hz version with a 9th gen core i7
Is the 240Hz panel an IPS panel or VA or TFT or TN?
Not to mention a 30 bucks worth of ax wifi card that you don't have to upgrade yourself

Hey Jay, have you tried out cloud gaming to your surface laptop? Take your best gaming rig and get a program called Parsec. Then put it on your laptop as well. Finally you’ll have a portable gaming laptop anywhere you have good internet.
Hey jay, could you do a review on the Predator Helios 500. Especially on its cooling system. Cheers
Thx for this review sold me on the same exact model picked one up used in great condition!! Got the ram and ssd upgrade too. Very good price to performance

Jay around 8:55 it would be great if you would turn on the additional on-screen monitoring details in Afterburner (eg. core clock, CPU/GPU temperatures, power level, etc).
"Little bit pricey" my heart skipped 2 beats hearing that
I’ve been waiting on your video of this laptop for the longest time😫😁

ive got the Razor blade pro 17 inch 2019 recently upgraded from 16 to 32 GB of Ram and im loving it.
This Razor Laptop is giving me 2010 Macbook pro Vibes. I dig it.
So they're just the 10 years behind?
It would be interesting to see what kind of performance gains and temperature readings are to be had while using a third party laptop cooler.
Now that’s what I call a classy MacBook Pro.
Five years ago everyone called Razer the "Apple of gaming", but I'm glad they still resemble what Apple looked like five years ago, as opposed to the Apple of today
@Ben Snow, true.
whn i travled a lot for work bad in 2015 i got a blade and i loved it, its seen better days as of now an i need to upgrade it but i dont travel much right now so im putting most of my funds towards my desktop. but even in its old beat up state i still use and love my blade.
Benchmark with undervolting!?

@@gtstarwars uhh yes you can. It's called throttlestop bud. It's absolutely needed with that processor
Afterburner on laptop doesn’t let you? Didn’t allow tht setting on my asus rog one a while back
@@gtstarwars I personally use throttlestop for undervolting on my 2018 Blade. However you can also use Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to undervolt.
Mercury White looks incredible 👍
That layout could use some improvement. That cable is annoying and add another m.2.
But as Jay said just stick a 1 or 2 TB drive in there and we’ll be good to go 👍
Soon as he mentioned the price, I lost all excitement for this.
Gonna buy one soon, build quality is way better than the other PC alternatives
Really gives me that 2008 MacBook Pro vibe tho
I got the same model laptop but had to underclock it for it to stay cool. It was hitting 101c on the CPU a couple times. now it's in the 70s-80s while gaming. I love it because it's so much more portable than my old one.
Stephen Cole why not just use a usb fan to blow air over the unit while gaming? I do and get about 10-20 FPS more...
No ethernet port?
No buy for me then
Also youre getting sloppy Jay, no CPU temp readings are you for real?
It's 2019, get an adapter lol
@@tarantula1337 Spending that much on a laptop to then have to spend additional money?
No, if Razer have such a hard on for "Thin and light" at the expense of functionality and for a high price to boot, I expect THEM to provide the adapter.
They have an ethernet port on the base model and the pro model
@@nofilqasim So why doesnt this one?
Its thinner and lighter than the both of them
Just bought the same build with 256 gb ssd to be upgraded to 1 tb as soon as it arrives for $2000. This might be still expensive compared with dell and Lenovo I think, but I really like it’s simple design and lightweight (at least it looks).

just copped the 9750H version of this exact laptop used for 1300$ sometimes you just gotta wait for a bit and snag a good deal :)
0.70"? Just use Centimeters if you allready using base 10. Lol
When i was going to the university I used my Alienware 15 R3. i7 7700 and GTX 1070. I loved the performance.
I need a new laptop
I would get a pc but laptops are easier to move between my parents houses

Soap Qc We know mini ITX existed, ok? Tired of people yabbing "oh how good are desktops compared to laptops....."
@@richardzhang2773 Damn. Someone suggested a thiccer laptop and I have had many experience with gaming laptop in the past. Have I said it was better ? Na. what an answer to the imac... it looks really nice... nice size track pad AND a much better keyboard!
In 10 Years Laptops Will Run Better Than Current $10,000 PC'S
Debatable.
not for gaming though.
single core performance has remained essentially the same for the last half decade
more like in the next generation
these things are really advancing
rapidly
but batteries are an issue still
agreed then we have to wait 10 more years for the next one afther the 10 years to match the pc's over 10 years
I think Graphite batteries are going to change a lot
I've got the old, lame 1060 model, but I love that damn thing. I had an MSI GS65 for less than a week before I replaced it with a Blade 15. I couldn't handle hearing it crunch as I put in in my backpack.
Drake Simmons the 1060model isn’t lame
I’ve got the same one and love it, still runs pretty much everything at higher frame rates than a ps4 pro or a Xbox X could possibly ever hope to do

I mean if you come across a point which bothers you so much that you dislike it,you probably won't change your mind
Make sure to get Dual Channel preconfig from factory. If you get a 1x16gb you will get literally 50-60% of the performance. I ran into that problem and wondered why I was only getting 50% gpu usage in any triple A title.
This looks very similar to my 2014 MacBook Pro.

As laptops go this sounds like a pretty nice unit. I am not a fan of the fact that the GPU is essentially cut down with reference to its desktop name-sake but as far as it goes where the manufacturer can effect it the laptop seems to be quite good.
looks like a macbook [this is good] and you can game on it [also good] priced as much as a macbook [oof my wallet]
I overclocked my 2060 max q to +200MHZ on the core and it seems stable. Doesn't get that hot either - mid 70's generally. Think the max q design limits are sort of circumvented by overclocking.
