- Your final World Cup treat from me for a while...
Here is the BBC preview programme for the 1999 World Cup, presented by Jamie Theakston who had just departed Live and Kicking. A good show, with features on all the teams, plus comment from Richie Benaud, Jonathan Agnew, Viv Richards and John Kettley (who was, believe it or not, one of the World Cup Ambassadors that year!).

By the end of the tournament, Sir Viv Richards went from being a pundit to being the head coach of the West Indies when Malcolm Marshall fell Ill and was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer, from which he sadly succumbed to at the end of that year.
Good Lord that England team were still 20 years away from having a clue in playing limited overs cricket
what super team Zimbabwe... we miss that team
It was best WorldCup ever took place
one of the memorable World Cup
Feeling Sad for SA for the semi final tie ,they deserved to be the champions
Golden days of cricket
Aravinda de Silva was a magnificent player - the George Headley of Sri Lankan cricket.
Very surprising that Sri Lanka didn’t qualify for the super 6 of 1999 world cup
Best world cup my life with 2003 wc
After this, the BBC stopped hosting cricket until recent years.
Thanks
nobody anticipated rahul dravid to be the leading run scorer
Its very bad as you discount NZ🇳🇿 from everything, beginning from the intro to showing them at the very last in the 12 teams and for the least duration too. They are easily the best team among those who haven't been crowned Champions.
The Golden WC of cricket....the best
The best documehtafy
Why they didnt use good cameras for telecast look at the videos of 2003 world cup totally different .1999 world cup footage looks like cameras that we used in birthdays party
19 years old Shahid Afridi, youngest player 😂
Its the most competitive worldcup so far, with 8 teams having a chance to make it to semis. SA was the best though with all the all rounders they deserved to win that world cup, unfortunately they had to face an equivalent team in aus in the semis instead of the other two weaker teams in pak & nz.
Where was NZ in into?
