    Okay, I spent over an hour today hitting your forehand and I’ve never had so much fun! You are so correct! More spin, more power, AND more control giving more consistency. This stroke really allows you to get under the ball effortlessly which I always struggled with before. For those worries about the wrist, if you want to produce topspin you have to brush up on the ball and use some wrist. How else are you going to produce topspin people? Brushing up extending your arm only will lob the ball out. If you don’t want to involve your wrist hit flat with a continental grip. So there’s a partial windshield wiper motion to get the face below the ball, brush up on the ball and finish again with the windshield wiper motion like most of the pros fully extended or finish like Halip with a different but still complete extension before ending the follow through. I’m so sold on this forehand! My playing partner commented on how effective it was. THANK YOU so very much! You’ve got a new subscriber for life. Goodbye pat the dog!

    This is so interesting. I can’t wait to try it. I’ve been struggling with the forehand take back for years trying so many different techniques. So much more technical than the 2HBH.

    Holger Rune’s forehand definitely has the partial windshield wiper motion you describe.

    I think the concept of what u have said is correct...but how u worded it could confuse some in relation to the role of the wrist ...I've previously heard that the reverse windscreen wiper u refer to is not from u manually rotating ur wrist back but rather as ur wrist relaxes and ur shoulders rotate pulling ur arm through...if don't correctly... creates the racquet lag where as the arm comes through the hand and racquet stay behind....stretching the ligaments etc in the wrist/inner forearm until they snap back starting to shorten and this starts to bring the hand and racquet through

    • @Better_Call_Raul
      @Better_Call_Raul 5 месяцев назад

      You are correct. The wrist lag will tend to naturally happen if you keep the arm relaxed and lead with the torso while arm, wrist and racquet lags. This video is not telling you to force the wrist lag. It is explaining how "pat the dog" should be a smooth fluid 3D motion. As the video states, most club players will instead have a stiff 2D patting motion.

    Pat the dog was used by Fed at about 60 degrees from the baseline. He did this to facilitate a more compact and linear swing path. What you are suggesting is how Joker takes back to more than 90 degrees from the baseline and therefore to a more WTA rounded swing path. Joker does this because he likes to redirect power instead creating power. Also, it's a safer shot because timing is easier. I think this is better for beginners but more advanced players should use Fed's forehand because you can hit much harder with it.

      Your right about the different styles. But the ATP tour has all the statistics. Federer didn't hit as hard as Djokovic and many others. He was a genius and made awesome shots. But sheer power. No that's not his secret.
      And may I ask. Are you sure that the technique of Djokovic, rune, ruud and loads of others is a beginner technique? Just a question... I think they will be amazing players when they get past beginner level

    Your advice is contrary to other coaches. You advocate physically manipulating the wrist to get the racquet facing behind the body. Other coaches say that this is wrong; Maci would explain that the racquet ‘flips’ due to the hand accelerating forward, the inertia of the racquet causes the wrist to extend, creating the lag displayed by all top ball strikers.

      @oneminutetennis  5 месяцев назад +3

      This was Federer's technique.
      But it is not the technique of most pro players.
      Most pro players extend behind the 'pat the dog' position.
      I'm the current top 10. Only dimitrov hits the way that you describe.
      I'm not saying it's right or wrong.
      But it's not the only way.
      Do you see what I mean

    • @Supertico-zj7sg
      @Supertico-zj7sg 5 месяцев назад +1

      He never said physically manipulating. He used the word momentum, which is a byproduct of accelerating forward. I believe the focus of this video is on the circular shape without a pause.

      @@oneminutetennis many thanks, I see what you mean, but still think Nadal and other players rely on inertia to create the lag, not consciously rotating the wrist. Horses for courses.

      @@oneminutetennis Besides, if we we look at the most powerful forehands in history like that of del Potro and Fernando Gonzales, even Sampras, Agassi, Graf and countless other former no. 1 pros, not one of them employed the pat the dog. Tempting to say Federer's forehand technique is a monstrous anomaly.😊

    "C" shape by rotating the hips and shoulders first or "C" shape the arm first?

      Hi. It depends on the circumstances. If it's a controlled situation. Hips first.
      If it's a difficult situation.. arm first.
      Does that make sense.?

    Thumbs up!! Hopefully, the pat the dog technique which is more complicated to perform (no thanks to Federer and Ric Maci) will go to oblivion one day. Consider some greats like del Potro, Agassi, Sampras, Lendl, and Gonzalez, let alone Sharapova, Graff, and Williams sisters--- not one of them employed the pat the dog. Instead they did it like the way you advise❤. It makes real sense and rationale. Thanks a million for it.❤❤❤
