    Superb result. The movie version has a grey inner frame but this bronze colour goes very well with the over-the-top design of the mech. Guess I'll have to build one myself one day

      Thanks. This is actually not the movie version, it’s from a scene in the manga that takes place on Delta Berunn at the AKD castle, but I know what you’re talking about. In this case, I was following the manual for colors since this was a marketing build for Volks. The fatima cockpit on the head is usually green as well, so I thought it was weird that it was telling me to paint it gold too, but I think it still looks great in the end. Thanks again for watching!

    Just put a preorder in for this and the LED Mirage V3 from the VolksUSA store yesterday. Really looking forward to it and appreciate the build videos! They've given me an idea of what to expect while building it and what supplies I'll need. Looks like a totally different beast from the Gunpla I'm used to.

    Damn. This mech is so sexy... I thought it was when I watched the movie, but the kit itSelf is superb.
    Btw, disaster or not, you did a great great job at painting it. I wish I have a steady hands as yours.

    Does the kit have any articulation and possibility to it or is it a fixed statue?

    • @bhop.builds
      @bhop.builds  3 года назад +1

      It does have some articulation. It's not as much as something like a Gunpla kit, but you can definitely move it around some, at least, the arms and legs.

      I was on the fence about decals vs painting those parts anyway, so it wasn't a big deal in this case. I figured I'd try the decals and if they looked good then I'd leave them, if not, they're easy to remove and paint. FWIW I think they would look fine if a modeler isn't comfortable painting them, but I think the paint does look better.

    I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos, awesome job. I just received my copy of this kit today. Can you confirm for me that the secondary color gold the manual is calling for is Vallejo 72058 Brassy Brass? These videos will help me build tremendously. Thanks again!

    • @bhop.builds
      @bhop.builds  3 года назад +1

      Thanks. Glad you enjoyed them. I just looked at the manual. I used the lacquer colors, which is on the left side of the manual's painting page. The right side is Vallejo and it looks like you're correct. If you're using Vallejo for this project, 72058 Brassy Brass is the one.

  • @spencer2382
    @spencer2382 3 года назад

    Would you recommend this line of kits for just snap building or do you think that the painting is necessary for it cause I think the design look really cool and I am considering getting one but I don’t have the tools or experience to paint it and I’m not sure if they look good without the paint and if you have done any gunpla in the past could you let me know some of the major differences because that what I mostly have done so far

    • @bhop.builds
      @bhop.builds  3 года назад +1

      These really aren't like Gunpla unless you compare them to vintage kits. You'll have to use cement on most parts although some can be snap fit into place. There will be more seam lines to fix. They're molded in multiple colors usually, but there are many parts that will need masking and painting for contrast since they're not really color separated the way Gunpla is. It's probably possible to build without paint, but IMO it won't look that great. There's a guy on a FSS facebook group that did a straight build of this kit, but intends to paint it later and while it doesn't look terrible, the "gold" plastic color isn't that great. I will say though, if you're interested and think you'll still want to build later, then I'd get the ones you want and put them in your stash. Volks is a relatively small company and discontinues kits often to make way for new ones and when it's gone, it's gone.

    Hey, I dunno if you'll ever see this, but there's a ton of extra parts on the sprues for this thing. Do you know what they're for, or if there's something I missed, or are they for the bitsbox? Thanks, and thanks for the content!

    • @bhop.builds
      @bhop.builds  3 года назад

      The kit shares some parts with the regular LED Mirage release. I'm pretty sure those were just meant for that. If you look on the edges of the sprue, I believe it says "LED Mirage" on there as well. (I don't have the sprues anymore, so I can't tell for sure)

    I just got interested in these kits. So it seems like they definitely need a full paint job, which is fine with me. How is the articulation? I know in the first part of this build you said they are more delicate than Bandai Gundam kits, but how delicate, and what sort of range of articulation do they have?

    • @bhop.builds
      @bhop.builds  3 года назад

      Articulation is pretty limited. The skirts don't move much, so you can't really bend the legs up far, and the waist just moves left and right. The arms have decent movement thanks to the way the shoulders are attached, but when you are posing it, it feels like you might break it at any minute..lol. They do look nice when they're done though. There's a link to a finished photo gallery in the description. You can see a few of the "posed" pics near the bottom.
