Clear and concise, no fancy intro, no merch begging, just simple to use advice and delivered in a non condescending manner. Why have I not seen any of your videos before? I'm now going to check out your other content, if it's pretty much as fantastic as this then you will have one more subscription! Great video 📹👍
Absolutely brilliant. Like setting an offset fence on the router table. One of those remarkably simple yet genius ideas we’ve never thought of. Thank you!
I just discovered you, after building furniture at the serious hobbyist level for about 30 yrs. Thanks for being articulate, SMART, and brief. I love that the ideas are simple, extremely useful, and useful at all levels of skill and experience. Keep em coming!
HOLY FREAKING ACTUAL CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE A FREAKING GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mechanical Engineer Tool Maker/Machinist that not only designs and builds Automation Machinery but builds furniture as well. I NEVER would have thought of that. DAM YOUR GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got a supply of all bend woods today and I couldn't sleep. Watched hell lot of videos for a solution as I don't have a jointer...Since my wife is sleeping besides me, I am on a silent mode 😀😀😀...So, I watched it 5-6 times, figured out how it works and discovered a great solution. You deserve a nobel prize for this. 😀😀😀 Thanks a lot.
I rarely comment on videos, but this deserves every comment and like it can get. Works perfectly (thin kerf 120tpi blade is great when done nice and slow) and saved me $1,000 for a jointer. Thanks!
I was trying to get a straight edge from crooked boards and simply couldn't do it, but after watching this guy, I was able to do my straight cuts. I enjoy RUclips and get so many ideas from it.
Dude, long-time viewer first-time caller. I finally tried this today while rushing to fix my daughter's doll bed. Fast, easy, and accurate. Love your content, thanks heaps.
This is perfect! Thank you. I needed something simple and quick to make so that I can actually focus on projects instead of spending too much time on making jigs
I'm loving these quick-tip videos. Straight to the point, simple, effective, no fancy expensive tools, and I'm learning something new each time. Literally perfect content for folks like me.
Champion! . Thanks for saving me a lot of time on jigs that end up on the firewood pile. And yes, no BS, no Oscar winning performances of "This is my life and how cool I am". You're a cool bloke. Cheers mate
Just tried this on a couple of old bench oak boards that were severely warped. I can glue them together as tight as any jointer could make them. Brilliant!
I was wondering if this actually works? It looks so simple, it seems like it's a trick of the camera or something haha. I'm going to try it on my radial arm saw, since I don't have a riving knife on my table saw, or a Saw Stop tablesaw.
What an amazing tip. I literally just watched this, said "holy cow," went to my table saw, made one, and used it on some cherry boards with a slight curve to them. I did the up-board, down-board method to make a complementary joint angle, and passed each piece thru it twice. And it WORKED. Like, perfectly. Just amazing. The best part about this, compared to others, is you can joint boards longer than this piece of plywood.
I've looked at a million ways to straighten that edge but this one takes the cake!!!,......At last!,.....I can do this!!!! Regards, Alpal Hansen new Zealand,.....( Burtland if you ride an Indian!! )😁😁
Simply BRILLIANT with an upper case B!!!!! I am a novice - begun my hobby this March (Really in 2020 - what gave? LOL). I think now I have most woodworking tools minus a Jointer. I have been playing with many tricks and tips from using an electric hand plane to using the thickness planer. This IS by far the simplest of solutions!! Again, I feel like all of us that benefitted from this oughta buy you lunch or something! LOL
Tried it this morning with some white ash I’m using to build 2 gorgeous toolboxes for my sons. What a great idea!! Worked like a charm with such a great common sense “trick.”
You deserve more views and subs. Best, quickest, no-BS video for a simple fix. Everyone else loves to fill their video with cheesy dialog and intros. Great job! I can now finish my project I’ve been tinkering with all day
Wallowing in my sorrows for just missing a local $50 used jointer... Stumbled across this video. This should hold me over until the next deal comes around! Thanks!
Money is incredibly tight for me currently with taking care of ny mother 24/7 and trying to earn a living. Cant afford a jointer and was going to buy supplies to make a jointing sled but this just saved me having to spend any money. Bummed i havent seen you make any recent videos lately and hope its only because youre too busy to do so.
Right? I feel like it's so obvious after watching this video... That's literally what a jointer would do for your edge... I'm simultaneously glad I found this, and ashamed that I'm too dumb to have come up with that myself by just looking at my damn table saw...
Cool. Theres all sorts of people on here who have set up some type of sled like system where they put the board they want to joint on top of the other one with hot glue or nails. This makes way more sense, way more simple...
You can still do this, but make it into a nice jig. I cut about halfway through the board, then raised the blade up through the piece to get a nice kerf in the wood instead of the backwards kerf he has in his. I also removed the riving knife as it is not needed with the board there.
Wow, such an easy solution for great results~! I've been woodworking for over 30 years and this is the first I've seen this technique. Thanks for sharing this~!!
Thank you this is a neat trick see 40yrs in the furniture trade and this trick proves you never stop learning if you are willing to not be self absorbed as many in trades are. I salute you buddy. Danial from Chesterfield House Australia
Dude this is brilliant! Honestly when I clicked on this video I thought for sure I would have seen whatever you’re trying to show me before but I have never seen the tablesaw used as a jointer in that way and it seems pretty damn brilliant. Now I have to subscribe :-)
Me too. Any time someone can articulate the kernel of the idea and leave out the bits where they feel the need to explain dross, I'm in! Plenty of vids out there that can explain this kind of thing in 12+ minutes. Boiling it down properly into 3 minutes: priceless.
@@jimmurphy5739 A lot of youtube videos demonstrating woodworking techniques/ideas remind me of trying to find recipes online. You just can't find a recipe anymore. It's always a 1000 word article about the back story of the recipe, how great it is, and how everyone will love it. Then once you manage to scroll past the 25 ads and unending text that synergize with one another to make your phone as slow as possible, you might get to the ingredients list and cooking steps.
Holy crap, I wish I had found this yesterday! So simple, and so much safer than sliding a level between the piece and the fence. I'm going to be trying this tonight. Thanks!
I just tried this method myself to mill down some 2x4s into .5 thick strips…perfectly jointed edges, and I mean PERFECT. You just saved me A TON of time and money trying to make an adjustable jointing sled.
Thanks much! Seems most of these videos assume you're working with on a gigantic table on a cabinet saw, along with the matching gigantic jig. Whereas I have a relatively small job site saw, just due to lack of space (my "shop" is also my garage, which is the proverbial 20 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag, and I have to work in the driveway). I see a lot of your videos are showing tips that would work well on our smaller saws too, and I really appreciate that.
This is what it’s all about, plain simple, no 10k in tools, no overly complicated jigs. Someone give this guy beer.
I miss your videos. One of my favorite teachers. Hope you decide to return to making content.
This is my new favorite "jointing without a jointer" video!
This is so much easier than all of the table saw jointer sled videos I just watched. Thanks for this!
Video: Brief and to the point.
Method: Simple, easy and a fine illustration of the principle of jointing.
Super video! Thanks.

Great video 📹👍
this x2
Wayne, You are dead on!!!
One of the reasons I subscribed was because he never asks anyone to.
Just a warning, the technique in the video only works when you are trying to get rid of a cup, it will not work with a crown.
Yup, 95% of Jody's stuff is this good and clean. Hard to find a more consistently effective channel on YT.
Absolutely brilliant. Like setting an offset fence on the router table. One of those remarkably simple yet genius ideas we’ve never thought of. Thank you!
Ain't it crazy that the obvious solutions aren't always so obvious?
I laughed out loud when I saw this because it's such a smart idea and I felt like an idiot for not thinking of it myself. Genius!
This was totally not what I thought I was going to see, I just got schooled!😯 Great work again Jodee!!💪
This is EXACTLY what I needed right at this moment.
This is literally using the table saw as a jointer with the blade setting of a kerf! Genius!
I just discovered you, after building furniture at the serious hobbyist level for about 30 yrs. Thanks for being articulate, SMART, and brief. I love that the ideas are simple, extremely useful, and useful at all levels of skill and experience. Keep em coming!
I don’t know how you thought of this but thank you from the bottom of my wooden heart.
Dude, I'm totally tossing my jointing jig out now for this. Thank you

What a quick/ easy/ accurate way to edge joint. This guy is Einstein . I tried it and works great

Holy smokes, I've looked at about ten different videos to solve this issue. Wish I came upon this first. Simple and quick and solves the problem.
This is perfect! Thank you. I needed something simple and quick to make so that I can actually focus on projects instead of spending too much time on making jigs
Welp. I will be using this in the near future. Thanks! The amount of information you can learn watching content on RUclips sometimes is unbelievable
The fact that this can be done on site with scrap makes it an extra killer trick. Thanks!
I stumbled onto the channel purely by chance. Dude... You have brilliant ideas! Super easy to execute too!

This is really ingenious, for all little shops like me who cannot afford a jointer yet, this is a life saver, and opens many possibilities. Thanks.
There are three woodworking channels I visit regularly when I need tips and advice. Jody’s in always the first.

Simplicity at it's finest! Not overly complicated like other videos, great job.
The most useful video I've watched since I started woodworking three years ago.

Best idea on the internet for joining on a table saw. Used it today and it worked perfectly. U da man!
Brilliant! Thanks for taking the time to share! Oh, and thanks for not making this a 20 minute video! Right to the point!
Thanks for all your lil trix of the trade, they’re super helpful
had this idea on a drive home today, came to youtube and found someone who already tested it out. thanks!
Great idea, and nice job explaining it very clearly. I have been woodworking for over 40 yrs and I always learn something from your videos.
This is the most ingenuous way of jointing I’ve seen anywhere

Was looking for ways to make a jointer sled, this I think will be much easier and suit me better.
2 years later, you're helping me with this trick. Just getting deep into woodworking and was trying to find a solution without a jointer. Cheers!

You are my new favourite wood working RUclipsr. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Great...I was looking for something to joint long boards. Thank You very much
This is the best, fastest and easiest one I ever saw. Thanks a BILLION!!!

What an amazing find ! It doesn’t get any simpler than this. Well done .
OUTSTANDING! You're the first that I have seen with this technique. Thank you.
your channel showed up on my feed today and I already learned two new techniques. Just fantastic
This is genius. Best tip out of all of those out there teaching people how to get a straight edge without a jointer. Absolutely genius!!
I must admit, until I saw the jig in action I thought you were crazy. Very well design and very simple!
Simple and straightforward.🤘😎
Love the vid nice simple short vid that tells you a lot when you can’t afford something big like a jointer , genious
WOW! What a great tip. It is like you’re recreating the function of a jointer on the table saw. Please keep sharing these.

Genius! Thank you.
I like this woodworking tip on the table saw. You just earned a new subscriber here. This no nonsense technique is what I want here. Thank you.
#1 Tip ive seen on Utube for wood working! Tanks
Holy crap I’m so glad I came across this video before making the jig I was about to! Thank you!

Can't believe I just found this. Mind blown! Thank you!!!
Wow! I make a bunch of tables and was thinking about dropping $$$ on a jointer. Thank you, I can now get something else for the shop. God bless
Man you are a genius. Thanks a lot.
WHOA! I didn't see that coming!! Why haven't I - after 50 plus years of turning lumber into sawdust ever think of that?!
Best explanation and demo so far on how to use this jig. So simple. Thanks a million.
Literally the best trick for getting a straight edge from a table saw, I’ve seen yet!! Awesome stuff. Going to guy try that rn
Awesome. I don't have room in my shop for a proper jointer. This is a game changer. Thank you.
You share the most simple solutions to often seemingly difficult situations and show us how it can be done. Bravo and Thanks!!!
Absolutly briliant, thanks for sharing mate.
Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷

Making simple table saw jig to simulate jointer on edge of a board. Beautiful.

THANK YOU!! I am making a desk and need to joint some boards for a glue up and don't have space for a jointer and this is EXACTLY what I needed.
Now that makes a lot of sense! I've got a small Cutting Board project today that I'll use this technique on, thanks.
