No matter how many times i watch videos of this great ride, i always start crying. It was me and my dads favorite ride and universal studios when i was a kid. He died when i was 11, and watching this brings back all the memories of how much fun we had.
.................................The last time I was on this ride was almost 15 years ago, and still to this day as the nostalgiabumps won't fade away I will never, ever forget biff tannen saying I'm gonna take a little joy ride, and the forever quotable HASTA LA BYE BYE! WHY Did they deprave me of a last ride as an adult. this was amazing, the video and the ride.
Hi, this is Roland from Germany. I was on vacation in the USA in 1991 and took a trip to the Universal Studios in FL. BTTF is one of my all time favorite movies and I will never forget this ride! I was a kid back then and BTTF was the most impressive ride ever, it seemed almost real to me! It's sad to hear it's gone forever. I always hoped to go back there someday and enjoy it one more time...too late. I still have the Official Photo Book and the OUTATIME license Plate I bought at the studios...
oh man, I've never been on this ride! I've never gone to Universal! I can't believe this ride is forever gone, but I'm so happy that you have this video posted. This is such a classic. I agree with alteredeffect - they could've kept this ride, and just expanded. so sad.
My Uncle was one of the engineers that designed and built the original BTTF ride. Among others. He was proud of his work. I remember listening to him talk about process of building it. I remember having tickets for the Jaws ride opening day. What a trip. I was so young. Wish I could remember more. Most of it has been replaced. BTTF, Kong, Ghostbusters... Why couldn't they have just expanded the park with more attractions instead of replace the great ones?
you weren't the only one. when i rode the florida version for the last time, i came out of the ride building crying like marty when he thought doc was dead near the end of BTTF 1
Hey there SDPS2009. That's what made this ride especially cool for any fan of the Back to the Future trilogy, ya know? The fact that the actors all came back together to shoot footage specifically for this little ride. Have you ever seen the Terminator 3D Experience at Universal Studios? Exact same thing. Schwarzenegger, Hamilton and Furlong came back just for that attraction too! How cool is that?
Now JAWS is gone :/ E.T is our only hope!! He is the last ride that opened with the park. But at least Jurassic Park is still running. I miss "The Big Three" King Kong, Jurassic Park, and JAWS :(
Watching this video was like time traveling back to 2007 and then seeing bttf was like time traveling back to 1985 and then getting on the ride I think I saw a dinosaur. GREAT SCOTT!!!
it's an old pixelated vid from back in the new days of RUclips but it was a such great day for me, and I still do miss that ride to one of my favorite movies of all time. There are much better versions online now, including a simulation vid that was included in the DVD bonus features. Glad you enjoyed it, fellow Time Traveller. :) and remember, the future is what you make of it!
Anyway, I hope someone will put all this extra ride footage on a DVD set bonus features someday. That way we can all enjoy a nice simulated version of it. from the comfort of our homes even if we never got out to see the ride. It was just so...adorable. My favorite part was smashing through the Texaco sign, and then bumping Biff at the end. :D thx for watching.
Japan !!! It was not in my plans at all... but who knows? Sometimes plans begins reading a good comment on RUclips... Thank you very much, and a big hug from Argentina.
i've been on the simpsons ride enough times now. its cute, it's adorable, it's awesome 3d animation. i really like it. there's even a puff of a maggie's baby powder scent that gets sprayed into your face at one point in the ride...BUT...maybe it's just me, it just seems like the new ride doesn't FLOW as well as the bttf ride did. i dunno, i think that maybe its just easier to follow a "live action" ride as opposed to a fully animated one, that's just me.
Did you go to Florida or did you go to Hollywood Studios ? I visited both places many years ago, and it's great news if it is still open, because I want to get back before I die.
haha, this old footage was from earlier in the day. I think the actual final ride was sometime after 9pm that night. I do miss this ride. I'm a big Simpsons fan as well, which is what replaced this BTTF ride, but it's just not the same.
NadaSurferTube I'm a Simpsons fan too, but I sadly never rode on BTTF: The Ride since I never went to Universal Studios ever. But since both rides at Universal Studios and Hollywood back in 2007 and the Japan location in 2016 I wish I could've rode it, but now many RUclipsrs uploaded the ride I can watch it and pretend I am riding it
NadaSurferTube Does it suck Back To The Future: The Ride closed it's doors and The Simpsons Ride took it's place? But since you rode BTTF maybe many times you can still see some evidence at The Simpsons Ride of when Back To The Future: The Ride was there from 1991-2007 (Universal Florida), 1993-2007 (Universal Hollywood)
+Ryan Matlosz 2 It's tough to answer that question, as again, I'm a fan of both BTTF and the Simpsons. Technically both rides are excellent, and there are added elements in the Simpsons ride that never existed on BTTF (smelling the actual scent of baby powder while inside Maggie's mouth, for instance, which feels very similiar motion-wise to being swallowed up by the T-Rex in the BTTF experience. ) But, nostalgia is a precious thing in an ever-changing world and if I had to pick, if I reeally had to....I would want to experience the BTTF ride again... Where else could I, as a fan, be able to experience riding in a "Delorean", watching extra bonus footage of Doc Brown and Biff that wasnt in any of the 3 films, and actually pretending for a couple minutes, to be chasing Biff around as we travelled through time and smashed through Hill Valley? Nowhere, Ryan...nowhere. :)
lol! You know, there was a point in time where Steven Spielberg himself had to trick the guards and sneak onto the Universal backlot every day to get inside...all I'm saying is when you know what you love and you know what you want, the only rule that really applies is to "go for it". :) I've been on this ride a billion times and believe me, I see your point, I'm all for following rules--just as long as they were holding up their end of the deal and not taking my awesome ride away...
@jasonkane2007 Fortunately the ride still exists in Osaka, Japan, Universal Studios Japan. Although that's all the way in Japan at least the ride still exists in some form. The only problem is that the ride is in Japanese.
I like the simpsons to, but this ride was a classic, my favorite ride at the park. I addmit the simpsons ride is good, but I have to many memories with this ride to just forget about it.
Aww I miss it, i went to universal this weekend and the simpsons is cool i guess it isnt amazing its fun but back to the future was way classic =] and much more funner and kickass
yup. (sorry bttf ride fans, i'm a simpsons fan too, so i was there opening day.) the video was pretty funny, actually. we see an animated explanation of why doc brown is forced to sell the institute of technology.
hey do u miss the bttf ride well know u can bring it back just search this vide all you have to do is sign a petition if we get allot of people we can bring back the bttf ride know search this video bttf the ride petetion!
but i think the simpsions the ride is just for mean time untill they finish reamking bttf and after wards uneversal is going to probably bring back bttf the ride again but better and sicker
It's sad to see such an ausome ride close.True,The Simsons are populer, but Back to the future was a classic.I am quite sure that Universal will have problems now that the ride is closed.A lot of people go there just for that ride alone.I know I did!I only wish Universal had thought it through first and asked the audience on their views before they chose on what to do.I intend to boycott!Anyone with me?
i doubt it.If they were going to fix bttf then they would say so.They would not go through the trouble of making a whole new other ride.If im wrong universal must be pretty damn stupid.
guys, no need to be like this, i miss the BTTF ride too, but do you see me complaining that it's gone? no you don't, so suck up the fact that it's gone, sides, The Simpsons and BTTF are pretty much exactly the same rides, so chill, no The Simpsons wasn't as good as this one, but if i remember rightly we hurt ourselves on this, the injuries were only minor but still, my mum hurt her neck on this i think.
My Uncle was one of the engineers that designed and built the original BTTF ride. Among others. He was proud of his work. I remember listening to him talk about process of building it. Sorry man :(
I feel bad about your father passing away... This ride and your dad will always be in ur heart ❤️
I'm so sorry for your loss :(

RIP Back To The Future: The Ride
Universal Florida (1991-2007)
Universal Hollywood (1993-2007) - This version
Universal Japan (2001-2016)
Didn't notice they had the actual date on the display. I guess Uni Studios figured by 2015, we would travel back in time once we got to 2016.

I first went to Florida in 2001 and did it all. Between the Magic Kingdom, MGM, Universal, Epcot, Sea World, etc., BTTF was by far my favorite ride.
it was my favorite ride too. now my favorite ride is esclators.
I actually recreated the ride, homemade version, kid POWER!!!
you weren't the only one. when i rode the florida version for the last time, i came out of the ride building crying like marty when he thought doc was dead near the end of BTTF 1

Did the time curcuits that said "LAST TIME DEPARTED" read 09 03 2007?

@@NadaSurferTube I also remember seeing Back To The Future twice in the theater the week it came out. Good times.

What time did the ride close? The clock in the beginning was at 4:42 PM

Last Ride at Back to the Future ride in Universal Studios Hollywood in 9/3/07
Date: September 6, 2021
I never went on that ride (I'll miss that ride) but luckly there's a feature for that ride on BTTF 1 on dvd so I can experience it myself(sweeet).
why why why did they close it down
@NadaSurferTube It will be on the Blu-Ray release of the trilogy this fall.
dude, why close it? its a classic ride. one of the best!
lol! I swear. The BTTF theme song is epic! XD
Nice POV. Weird that they are Playing "Doubleback" from part III while you where boarding the vehicle. Normally they play a beeping sound.
i can't believe they replaced this ride. I hoped to take my kids on this someday. No i have no reason to visit universal anymore.
@jasonkane2007 Fortunately the ride still exists in Osaka, Japan, Universal Studios Japan. Although that's all the way in Japan at least the ride still exists in some form. The only problem is that the ride is in Japanese.
Kris Bright as of 2016, it's now gone
i miss this ride. now that they dont have it at universal studios hollywood no reason for me to go. twas the coolest ride there.
I’ll bet my whole life, that they’ll bring this back in 2045, in time for the movie’s 60th anniversary!! Along with a new movie.
Two years ago this comment was posted but damn that would be good, shame there won't be another movie tho :(
bttf forever ! !
Anyway I have 4 words: LONG LIVE THE FUTURE!
I want that right still in Universal Studios
The Simpsons is owned by Disney. This doesn’t make sense to me. Back to the Future MUST COME BACK!!!
Bring this back universal studios Hollywood
they should reopen the ride in a diffrent part of the park
I like the simpsons to, but this ride was a classic, my favorite ride at the park. I addmit the simpsons ride is good, but I have to many memories with this ride to just forget about it.
I hate this!I cried when i heard they closed it!Bttf was the only ride that didnt make me cry when i was little..........
wow. how could i have missed this comment? umm... farouk? it's still in japan, bro...so you can totally make that happen!
@MyWinky123 That would make you around 12yrs old?
They should reopen this ride in a 80s park refurbish it
they should reopen the ride in another location
At :26 why is the girl saying "why zero?"

Should have just added this on instead of destorying one for another.
I meant ride
this ride was classic and the simpsons ride is modern
(y do they say adults watch ur head when im only 13 and i had to watch my head when i entered)
Its MICHAEL MYERS!!!
