The designers were told by Michael Katz (Epyx CEO) to develop a game that that didnt have a proper ending. You can keep playing the game until you decide not to.
Congratulations, buddy! After spending decades in the mood of 0:38, you now rejoice in delight of the fanfare 0:48 (Greetings from someone who finished Indiana Jones and the last Crusade after 18 years)
This game was one of my all time favorites. I used to play it all day in. That cobra, sneaking up behind the computers firing at you, really was scary! I still can recall how I jumped up the roof :) Fantastic game play too!
I played this (and other games) with my cousin as children so often, that we broke both his joy sticks: one had a broken fire button, the other had broken steering. So we had to exchange Joysticks over and over and found out that way, that you can use the tank with 2 joysticks: one steers the tank, the other steers the gun and fires. I think it was kind of a chest involving plugging Joysticks at the right time, but maybe it was a general feature just no one knew about?
A Real American Hero. Fighting For Freedom Over Land Sea And Air! I wonder if ppl in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Vietnam, and other places sees it the same way.
This was a really good game and fun in player vs player !providing some not too well known info,i remember that the game came in a floppy disk and was not out on tape, most probably it would not fit in a cassete or maybe it simply could not load all these things at once on a tape without the use of the hugely faster and spacious Drive !
WWE Matches Destro vs Duke / Destro vs Gung Ho / Baroness vs Scarlett / Zartan vs Recondo / Zartan vs Blowtorch / Firefly vs Torpedo / Firefly vs Stalker Cobra Commander vs Snake Eyes / Storm Shadow vs Roadblock / Storm Shadow vs Snowjob / Major Bludd vs Spirit / Scrap Iron vs Zap I chose them is that this is something good to do even if it is Cobra Commander vs Gung Ho and Scrap Iron vs Stalker. Curse you, G.I. Joe! You may have beaten us this time. But we are not finished yet! Cobra shall strike back!
Love the graphics I seemed to remember duke at one point telling me to switch the floppy but then it made that kukukukukukukukuku shimmmm dadadadaddadadadad sound and so I was not able to really play the game. I would sadly leave and load archon or bop and rumble instead
I used to speeden the robot at 1:05 up (after every hit it switches the person he follows, getting faster) so it chased the enemy, laughing like a troll. Fast augenwässernd, nach gegen 35 Jahren eine "Auflösung" davon "zu Gesicht" zu bekommen(!) With the "good guy" Stalker (at 2:19 ) would be interpretated different these days, almost like what the meaning of "gay" must have been in the 80ies.
i never understood how to beat this game, but now I get it, you don't beat the game, you just keep playing until it's time for dinner
...or breakfast. :D

@@scottythegreat1And this is why this game is legendary 😂
At 46 , I played this as a kid,thanks for the flashback 👍
Ha! For decades I suspected my copy was broken or I missed something crucial but it was indeed a neverending game! What a relief.

This is why we spent so much time outside. This was the best game we had.
Oh my God the HAPPY MEMORIES :D What an era!
Best GI Joe game ever made…shame they never used a similiar fighting game format with todays existing technology
I loved this as a kid!
Wow, the memories. Thank you.
Blowtorch was my favorite, it did good damage. Played the shit out of this game as a kid!
I always stared at spirit’s cricket bat chin... I’m nearly 40 now... thank you for the upload. Fond memories.

Love the flashbacks and the b bit sound
I loved this game because of the vehicle sections. Although i'm sure i had no idea what i was doing, since i was just a dumb kid.

love the toys and oh man I also love the game.. yes it was also my favorite game back then :-)
Multiplayer was great
Awesome vid. Of course, all of us who lived to play this as kids on the C64 know the loading times were an hour long. Or at least it felt like it.
Funny that this is still the best gi Joe game to come out lol .
Seems crazy how ps3 etc never made a winning game with this license
What about the NES game, or the arcade game?
Loved playing this on my cousin's Apple IIe.
What a quality game it was!
with the second joystick you could control missiles

Realmasterorder Just think how kids would react today if they had to flip the disk over every time and the load times.
GriggsC123 Not to forget the tapedrive! Boy, THOSE loading times, could be even ... Long-er´ (loaders did easier it bit)

I remember my older brother had the Commodore 64 and this game never worked properly
Turn the disk over.
Yo Joe!
No joe here
What was Zap's specialty? I can remember Stalker's... But Zap's?
Probably ECM stuff.
Zap was a bazooka soldier. Specialist in armor-piercing, anti-tank weapons, and demolitions.
Zap never worked...
Cobra = Putin?
