Very interesting video deserves to be more widely viewed. I have been fascinated by these forts since seeing them in an old re run of Dangerman on tv. They also feature in the Movie Slade in Flame and a Dr Who. Thank you for posting
nice one mate I used to live in herne bay me and my mate took our small fishing boat out to the forts one day it was really misty and quite eerie then all of a sudden the loud bell started dinging lol shit us right up
that bell is great, i could imagine waking up to that dinging lol I bet it was eerie, a scene from the film the "Fog" then theres a pirate ship lol thanks for the comment :)
I just ran across a video of the inside of one of the forts by pure accident. It looked like it was being restored for safety measures for tours, possibly?
Looks like one tower has a mast on the top with an antenna on it. Is it still used for radio broadcasting? I know these were used as a base for pirate radio stations back in the day
One has westher station .but not safe to climb unless you know they get aboard also a lot of obstructiin in the water at least one collapsed tower and the walkway under the surface..

there was a scene in the hunger games, where you could see simillar forts like the maunsel ones
I used to see these off the coast at herne bay too when I was a kid. I think we went near them while fishing, spooky stuff.

They do boat trip from Southend Pier. I don't think this was actually Shivering Sands, which is a bit further out and in better condition.

IKS Exploration - From what I could find out it belongs to Red Sands Radio.
These towers served a great purpose defending us during WW2, but they look nightmarish.

The walkways completely eroded away, the tower that collapsed was hit by a ship in the early 1960s.
Pirate Radio enjoyed these, too...right ??? And a chap made "them" into a independent 'kingdom'...right ??
