Thanks for sharing , the video reminded me of some of the good old days! I used to live in Glen Cove between 2011 ‘till 2017 while studying in NYIT. Now that I’m back to my hometown (Saudi Arabia) it feels good to recall some of the memories.
I grew up in Glen Cove and haven’t lived there since 1971. I don’t recognize much (got a glimpse of my childhood home) but what can I expect after 50+ years?! It has grown and changed profoundly. Thank you for this drive down (sort of) Memory Lane ;-) and best wishes.
We left in 73 or 4 .. I wonder Why wasn’t the historic areas allowed to change storfronts or new buildings shameful. I also Wonder where the old milk drive through barn went
@@JudyZimShadHomesteaderDunno. The demise IMO started with the “Bypass” which resulted in, well, you see it. My experiences over 50+ years later reflect the Glen Cove prior to “Urban Renewal.” I remember the pretty much destroyed green houses at the intersection of Dosoris Lane and School Street and a “Candy Store” kitty corner to that intersection. And there was Bell and Halpern Pharmacy in the Landing. (My best friend lived on Valentine Street.) There was a fine deli (hole in the wall) in a strip mall that was across from the Dairy Barn when a deli really was one, not in some chain grocery store. In high school we hung out at the original Henry’s (#3 and a large Coke, thank you) and I spent the summer after my job at Shore Crest beach or Prybills. I’m sure I would not recognize Glen Cove now-and that’s fine. Life evolves. Best wishes, my friend.
I made the same kinda video of Glen Cove back in 1981- I have to find it and put it on You Tube. I go to the beaches and in some on the side streets like. Vine st. Guilfoy st. Smith st. viola dr etc
Looks like you chose one of the options I layed out for you that is on the North Shore. The City of Glen Cove. OB Branch LIRR & NICE n21 & n27 run here. (Weekdays only).

My Hometown
Wonder where the old milk drive through barn went
The Dairy Barn was on Forest Ave., I think closed down recently.
It looks like you’re familiar with the area.
Would you consider doing this again around Christmas?
Please nobody move here. Thanks ❤️
Too late
Why Not
No charm whatsoever
I’m sure everyone you’ve ever met says the same thing about you
