    A lot of people underestimate the power of HRT. Most people dont realize that your primary sex hormone (estrogen/testosterone) completely dictates how your metabolism works, which can completely change the fat composition of the body over a seemingly short period of time. From someone who has also undergone the "basic" masculinization medical transition myself, I'm glad that you presented completely factual and objective information. It really does help demystify the process of medically transitioning to non transgender people, which can potentially prevent a lot of awkwardness/bigotry which arises from being ignorant on a subject.

      The body is very complex. Hormones affect a lot, but do they alter you at the level of your chromosomes? There is so much less that is understood about the body than is actually KNOWN. I'll grant that our collective and specialist understanding has grown by so much, but we're still deeply ignorant and have much to learn. Unfortunately for people who are the "experiments" of this age - but future generations will see where things went awry. Bottom line: One can pretend they are anything, I suppose. That still doesn't make it true. Isn't it best to live in the light of truth?

      When you say bigotry do you just mean disagreement? I find it offensive that people are basically whittling our genders down to hormones and surgery. Especially women. It's objectification at it's worst and understanding the process isn't going to change my mind on that. If people want to do that of course they are free to but that doesn't mean it people have to play along.

      Less than 1% of people regret top surgery (even among cis women, many hate their breasts and want to get rid of them anyway) and less than 1% of trans people de-transition, and only a small % of these detrans people "grow out of it". • @sophroniel
    @sophroniel 2 года назад +42

    I think he looks a lot younger and so, so happy!
    Looking back at his pre-transition photos, it is so clear he has this tension and deep sadness, to the point that I genuinely thought that was just how "she" was; it is so amazing to see him being so at peace with his own body, and tbh I think many people looking back can subconsciously see him in his previous, wrongly gendered body all along.
    I cannot even begin to imagine how hard it is to transition, let alone do it with such a visible career as another gender, seeing your deadname everywhere, and have the world scrutinise your every body part, expression, clothing choice, posture and words, and I think that, while the term is over used these days, Elliott is a terrifically brave person--and now the world can see just how brave he is.
    Those who transition and are FTM, from my experience of knowing friends, colleagues and loved ones who are trans and/or NB, often have it much harder than many who are MTF (all trans people are valid, don't get me wrong), which I believe is due not only to TERFs thinking "the gays have stolen our womens!" and similar rot, but because any "betrayal of womanhood"---i.e. "betrayal of MOTHERHOOD" is what they actually mean---is seen by society, still, at sometimes a very deep subconcious level but still the thought or sentiment is there, to see transitioning as the ultimate lowest transgression a AFAB person can commit, like it's some sort of misogynistic sin that a trans man "hates women" so much that they "turn themselves into men".
    I think this is dangerous, toxic, cruel and just incorrect science-wise, and it always hurts me to know that people really do often still think this, deep down, and treat trans men as if they are "pretending to be men", that they're not "real men" deep down; it hurts to know that people think this deep down about people I care about! It is therefore my earnest hope that, because of people like Elliott, we can look to his example, and that it normalises this, because trans men are here, and they are valid, and they are real men.
    You can try and have hate in your heart all you want, but you cannot look at those pictures of Elliott before he transitioned and came out and tell me that he looked happier, younger, or more at peace then, because that is a lie, and anyone who claims he is acting or not valid, or that he is "not a real man" needs to look inside themselves and ask why they think someone else that they don't know, who is sharing this deeply private & complex journey with the world, is hurting their feelings, and thus "shouldn't be allowed", as if their feelings and opinion is more important than Elliott's feelings and right to live his life however he wishes.
    I feel we are privileged that Elliott is sharing his story as openly as he has, and it brings me so much happiness seeing that deep unhappiness he felt when made to play at being something & someone that he wasn't; that look of joy, and like he is finally released of his burdens is one of the most uplifting & wholesome things I've seen in a long time, and I wish many years of happiness and growth in the years and decades to come, and that his future is as bright as his eyes now are 🥺❤

      That sadness is sexual abuse PTSD. Changing her body has not made her happy, I guarantee you that. Hormones and surgery don't cure psychological conditions.
      Edit: I made this comment without verifying but was willing to bet on it....one quick Google search and yes she was sexually abused. Very sad, but wearing a man's costume won't take the pain away. And it doesn't guarantee she won't be assaulted again.

    • @sophroniel
      @sophroniel 2 года назад +3

      @@victoriapopaz5303 😑😑😑 ok...... well......
      Is *Luke 6:37* ringing any bells here? What about *Romans 14:10-13?* And *1st Corinthians 5:12-13?* What about one of my favourites, *James 4:11-12? Proverbs 11:9 & 12? Matthew 7:1-5?* I could go on...?
      I list relevant scriptures that adequately explain my feelings on the scripture you referenced (as if this is some sort of unsolicited In-and-out Burger wrapper-esque, neat little addendum to my opinion that only the keenest viewers would venture to notice) and, considering you are someone quoting bible verses randomly under a random youtube comment, I'm actually quite at a loss? Well, I'm also a bit irritated and, frankly, whilst yes I'm also slightly offended at the self-assurance and authority that you must have felt in order to post such a thing, I am more than anything, truly just more puzzled about why you did this in the first place.
      I mean, I'm inferring a lot from your comment but I see comments like this all the time, and it is my assumption that you might've written scripture verses as replies to more people than just me so, admittedly, I am merging people who do this sort of thing into a sort of mental monolith to more reasonably work through this.
      Any yes, I well admit that I could of course be _totally wrong,_ but it really does appear to me that, insofar as I can see, that you replied like that because you feel somehow obliged to "correct" my comment in some way, and that you think by doing this you are doing a Good Thing.
      As this "Doer of Good Things (via reminding people of GOD)", judging the words of someone you don't know in any way beyond a few paragraphs on a youtube video does seem a bit odd, especially since you see, to also simultaneously be exceedingly oblivious to the irrelevancy of your commented scripture to the point I had actually made?? I wasn't seeking the definition of "peace". Perhaps you assumed I'd never read the bible, and would look it up online and "find jesus". I really don't know. (I am also very aware I am also inferring a great many things from probably even less info than you had from my comment, as all I have is very short message, vague context, and the assumption you are an American because they are the only English-speaking country who will voluntarily bring up seemingly unrelated, random religious things in random, unreligious places-but I digress. I'm tired and writing this to keep procrastinating making dinner, mainly because my kitchen is exceedingly cold because it's in the middle of winter and I can't find my slippers, ergo you get a discussion you may never even see or care about, _dixi hoc ipsi.)_
      Regardless of what intent you had, the way such a comment came across as leads me to suggest that, perhaps, you might benefit from taking a closer examination of how you understand the new commandment Christ taught during his ministry-that is to say, yes, the teachings of how one must love their neighbours, and always turn the other cheek when our enemies may hurt us, and how one must still show love, dignity and respect to those people you might despise for their perceived iniquity, as well as towards those that seem to you as if they live their lives in a way that is so very distant from what you might perceive as the moral ideal, both in righteousness and/or how they decide to live their own personhood-and I would invite you to assess if you treat these people the same as you would treat Christ if he appeared before you, or if he stood by you as you interacted with such people..... but even this alone is not sufficient to live properly, right?
      This is an issue of what appears to be you not understanding why people think differently, so you correct others because.... you know better? You think they aren't living up to the morals you understand God wants? If this is how you truly behave, I don't think you are helping ANYone like or want to listen to your point, and especially not making anyone want to change, or to help us in otherway-this sort of thing is helping no one;-not me, not Elliott Page/trans people, not the youtuber who made the video, or yourself.
      I found Proverbs chapters 3 &14 to be quite salient here; read 3:7, 13, 27-35 and then go to 14:3, 6, 9, and, specifically relevant here, 20-22 and 31-35. Poor in spirit, self confidence, love, support & trust are just as relevant as those who don't have enough money. What right have you or I to judge someone else's actions, when we can never know their struggles? And if they are "wicked" leave them be, as you have no more right to judge them than I do. Isaiah 55:8-9 can serve as a reminder if you forget the fact that you have better things to do with your time than making judgements upon others' lives and choices or, worse, seeking to bring others down because they live their lives differently to you.
      So sure, you might be happy that you know of "God's peace". But telling someone else just how inferior their measure of peace or happiness might be is not anything I think you'd fine Christ doing.

    I think E Page appears to have undergone rather significant early male pattern hair loss which can be tough on a younger person. Also I think there's a visual disjuncture between the sculpted abs and the lack of any arm/leg development although perhaps that could be rectified with some gym work.
    As a general point, the female pelvis and the female elbow carrying angle are both quite different to the corresponding male skeletal structures and no hormonal or surgical interventions are applicable in these areas (or indeed most of the rest of the skeleton - apart from the Adam's apple and very specific parts of the skull) for people wishing to undergo a full physical gender transformation.
    Photos and videos posted on line by people publicising their transgender surgeries generally tend to be carefully shot (lighting, clothing, body positioning/movement, camera angle and even image resolution) so as to attempt to reduce or alter the visual emphasis on those parts of the body.

      Fortunately we live in the era of E-boys, Men with more feminine looking male faces are getting more and more common so you would pass with a masculine body but if it is for more personal reasons then just how you are seen then you can hope for the posibility of cheaper partial facial masculinization in the future (Like just getting your chin enhanced)
      *But if you are looking for an actually maybe useful idea:*
      Testosterone can also make facial hair grow so you can get a beard that would make your face appear more masculine like a goatee that you can grow into a ducktail which makes the face seem more masculine
      I don't know anything about transitioning to male since I am cis but on sites like reddit you can ask other trans men how to get a more masculine face without surgery and there is a good chance they have some tips to make you seem more masculine

      @@el-topo Somewhere along the line, somewhere in childhood, she began to associate herself with male energy and tap into it and in this modern age there are so many voices encouraging that process to go from fantasy to self-identification. There is more to being a man than surgeries to affect the appearance of a penis, or any other aspect of the male appearance. At the deepest chromosomal level, a man is a biological man, and a woman is a biological woman. Anything else is fantasy on steroids. One cannot "transfer" over to being another sex. It's simply not possible, so why give people the false idea that it is? Better to face reality and love the body you've been given. Your body is not a disease or an accident. Cherish it as it is. And make the best of it. None of us are 100% happy with our bodies, at least, most of us wish we had something else going on with it. Part of growing up is accepting reality and making the best of things. All of those drugs and all of that surgery is simply not good for one's health. And it doesn't alter reality. It only lends creedence to the self-perception that one is what one wants to be, the way a costume aids an actor. It's still only a performance, it's not the truth. And no one can control what another person thinks of it, either, so accept yourself, including your body, and live in the light of truth.

    • @m.e.1367
      @m.e.1367 2 года назад +1

      @@el-topo I don't think the statistics support the idea that it "saves a lot of mental anguish/self pity". It's very hard for one, to "pass" as another sex. There are so many differences between biologically male and biologically female bodies. The only thing that can be "trans' is the appearance because the reality doesn't actually change. There is nothing one can remove or put on or take internally that will actually make one the other sex one is born as. That is the basic reality. Secondly, having the "inner" match the "outer" refers to the fantasy alone, because one cannot be the other sex "on the inside". It's not real. It's the fantasy of what one thinks it must be like. And that is arrived at through observation and imitation only, not through actual experience. A woman will never know what it IS to BE a man. She will know what men SEEM to be and that will inform her perspective. Likewise, for a man to KNOW what it is to be a woman is also only the impression. For some "the impression" may be enough, but I doubt it. As human being who have souls, we can only be satisfied with truth and reality. The illusion disappoints, it always has and it always will. Please, face the truth and love the body you were born with.

      If we all lived in some sort of digital world with no access to our biological bodies and no one knew there biological sex then I would think a lot more people would be trans since no one would grow up with the assumption that they are a man or woman
      Maybe nonbinary would actually become a common gender because everyone has masculine and feminine mental stuff so people would just be like "Y'know what, who cares? What does it matter when we never use our physical bodies!"
      No one would have any way of knowing if they were or others were cis or trans since they have no access to there bodies, people would just fall into the gender they are more comfortable with which would probably be cis most of the time but there would likely be a lot more trans people who don't even know they are trans

    Maybe I'm the only one but I've always thought of Ellen page as a male. Maybe it's just naturally her or the roles she played but I always wondered if that would turn into something else for her. Juno is one of my favorite movies starring her and that's kinda when I noticed she was not into feminity.

    Was it necessary to say “his new chest ‘without breasts?’” Geez. Like, respect man. As a Dr. you should be aware of that.

      Bruh if you really think that people are "imitating" him rather then already being trans then you are clearly too far gone

    I wasn’t surprised by his announcement. Elliot seemed uncomfortable in Ellen’s skin, so to speak.
