Thank you so much for this video I’ve been going absolutely nuts trying to decide which bow to get and what you said makes a lot of sense. It’ll be perfect for hunting up here in the Catskills. Thanks again
I’m shooting the 29 and love it. I have a 29” draw and have it set on 55# due to a shoulder that needs rebuilding. I use ironwill 150 wides and am getting pass throughs on deer up to 190# .
My first ever compound bow is the V3X 29. I looked at it as an investment and had no plans to get another bow anytime soon. I travel a lot and the size made sense for me, and my first planned hunt was out of a tree stand so it worked out really nice. It’s an outstanding bow.
I pack the 29” and where I live in Oklahoma there are a lot of mesquites and the small compact size of it allows me to get through that bush. I like it too because I do a lot of ground hunting so that shorter ATA allows me to get into low hanging trees for cover and not hit branches when drawing. The draw cycle is kinda wonky but it’s a great shooting bow!
Spot on assessment of V3X 33. I have a 27.5 draw length and the 33 with its string angle feels best to me. I am coming off a Mathews Vertix 30” axle to axle and the string angle is uncomfortably steep, in my opinion. This is my 3rd Mathews bow and V3X 33 is a good as it gets.
V3 27, it's super jumpy. If my shoulder blinks any under a draw I'm losing an arrow. However, I bring it on myself with shooting too much once my shoulder is tired. I would love one of the 31-33" Matthews.
I have the v3x 29 in granite wt Gas strings in flo orange wt gun metal servings custom strings And the hamskea epsilon rest made for mathews. Spot Hogg fast Eddie xl wt a shrewd optum 35mm scope wt a shrewd rod for adjustments and a shrewd 4 power lenssight.and the low pro mathews 1pc quiver. Conquest control freak pro stabilizers wt the smacwrap tech a 12 inch in the front and a lower back bar wt a 9 inch. The bow shoots great. I like it alot and the total peep tech grip for mathews.
I have a Mathews Halon 6... 30" draw.. love it and shoot great but just picked up a V3X 33 Little concerned re: blind confinement.. I shoot out of a lot of brush blinds in S Texas.. so I think I'll be ok... Looking forward to getting the new rig set up
I want to get into archery and know absolutely nothing about it and I would like to know the approximate cost of a buildout for these Mathew’s bows please & thanks in advance for your help and time as it is greatly appreciated.
If you are buying this setup new, like I have it, you most likely spend around $2,200 (without arrows). Keep in mind this is a flagship bow with all premium accessories. For someone looking to start out in the sport, I would look at the used market or mid-tier bows. There are tons of classified sections on Facebook or Archerytalk that allow for more economical options. Hope this helps, and looking forward to having you in the sport!
I shoot the 33. I have a 31" draw length, so the string angle on anything shorter than 31 ATA just doesn't feel right. I love the V3X 33. It shoots phenomenally for me.
Wow! Given those specs you are faster than the IBO specs of 336 fps by quite a bit. 80% LO mods should add a few more fps on that bow. Have a nice season!
might be late to the party but im buy a Mathews V3X real soon. shot the 29 and 33 and i really loved the 29 both are great shooting bows but i was wondering if i should just get the 33 for all the reasons you hit on. now since this video i can say thanks for hitting on a few concerns i had. i will get the one i liked the 29, found a few left over and got a really good deal on one of my choice the 29 to me shot better but the 33 did draw a little smoother
Oh man, that's a tough one! Maybe a good video idea?! I am more accurate/consistent with my Omen, especially at longer distances. The Omen's efficiency is next level (less draw weight delivering higher speeds). However, I love the integration of accessories with the V3X, and dang it is one of the quietest bows I've ever shot. That said, I have a ton of confidence with my Omen so if I had to choose - that's the winner (right now).
@@s.g.holmes 👍 thanks for your response! That would be a great video idea to compare the 2, i would love to see it. I currently have the v3x 33 but love speed bows and am highly considering switching to the omen. Seems to be a great shooting, fast bow and it looks sick! Would be right up my alley
For me, it would come down to wanting the integrated stabilizer system or not. If that’s not important AND you get a good price on the V3X, I’d go that route. Either one is a great bow, but comes down to price and if you want the added features.
While it was breaking in... The V3X 29 felt like it did not have a valley. If you relaxed at all at full draw... it would try to send your arm at 300fps. It has broken in... or I have gotten used to it. When are we going to quit accepting $200+ quivers with Mickey mouse foam inserts that don't last 3 hunts. Anything Hamskea is MONEY... I have the Epsilon on mine. Gots the Fast Eddie XL and custom strings. Engage limb legs are always loose, cannot be tightened, internal bushing is too big. More plastic crap. Worst grip in the industry... hands down. Bottom line. The V3X 29 is the best Bow Hunting bow I could have ever dreamed of. I hunt with it daily, basically live on base at Ft. Stewart GA.
Gosh, I agree with the grip! Removing it is the first thing I do. Normally, I run side plates but I've been warming up to the UV grip quite nicely. Thanks for weighing in!
Looking at a Phase 4 29 this weekend, I’m a 29” draw…
Awesome! Hope it serves you well!

My set up, 2022 Mathews V3x/33
Ambush green.
Brand new Catfish custom
Bloodline Strings.
2023 Vaportrail Integr8
Rest(integrated).
Ultraview Sideplates, Redline RL Torch 2-Pin Dovetail sight. Love this bow.
That's a great setup! Hard to find a bow that holds as good as that 33 - hope you fill some tags with it this season!
@@s.g.holmes Yes, I cant wait until opened day. I shoot it practically everyday. Very smooth bow. Good luck to you also. Thank you, Semper Fi
I shot the 33 and liked it. Smoother draw and longer riser and longer brace is allowing to be more forgiving especially when your form is off at all.
I definitely liked shooting the 33 the most. She's smooth! Thanks for weighing in and hope you have a great season.

Solid choice! I hope it brings you a full freezer this season.
Ford, Mathews, Hamskea, setup, Glock, Marsupial, beer. We’re on the same page :)
Hahaha - absolutely brother! Hope you have great season
I shoot a hoyt 32” and a Mathew’s Triax 27” and I am upgrading to the V3x 29. I like compact bows to me they are versatile.
I agree with shooting the shortest bow you can accurately and comfortably shoot! That 29 is a sweet little rig.
Headed to try both tmrw, just shot the hoyt rx7 today
Nice! The RX7 is a killer bow as well. Let me know what you end up going with.👍
@ArchersNSight phase 4 33 also still enjoy my rx4 redwrx for backpacking. Got the hha tetra 4 pin on the mathews and a landslyde 3 pin on the rx4

@@s.g.holmes what quiver should I go wt?
@@wcwcgarner2717 if you are running your sight through the Bridge Lok, I like the Lo Pro quiver. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with a Tight Spot.

What about the weight ?
@@justinwaldoch they say they’re around four and a half pounds (33 being more). Mine came in a few oz over that.

The 29 is a sweet shooter. It might just hang around longer than most 😀
I'm shooting mathews vrx 31.5 but not sure if I go the 33 or the 29
I would definitely recommend shooting them both and find what you get along with. Thanks for stopping by!

My arrow is a bit heavier than yours but that’s what my chrono says
