    Took a nice buck last year with the Black Eagle Rampage. SEVR 2.0. 465g. AAE Hunter Pro. My set up this year is RIP TKO. SEVR 1.75. AAE Max. 475g. I was really impressed with the SEVR results.

    Great video man! I was using VAP TKOs with Tac Vanes and mechanicals from Triplepoint Outdoors. Their broad heads are pretty slick. They use magnets to keep the blades folded instead of rubber bands. My deer that I shot it with it ran less than 20 yards before it went down. Got a full pass-through. Super easy recovery. I have an RX7 on the way so I'm experimenting with the Easton Axis Long Range and will continue to use Tac Vanes and the same broad head.

    Penetration on blocks or foam or gel is not an indicator of performance on an animal. What really matters is how straight the arrow is flying, the efficiency of the broadhead, the diameter of the ferrule, FOC, and the spine of the arrow.
    Although Easton offers great shooting shafts for some reason they loose a lot of momentum on impact, especially FMJ's. Just my experience. I heard a MIT engineer claim it was because their carbon is pultruded which causes a lack of structural integrity on impact because the fibers are all going in one direction.
    I am shooting Gold Tip Velocity's again this year with Sevr 1.5's. I have been shooting Velocity's ever since I read a radar study where they retained more energy down range than any other arrow on the market at the time. They have always been great to me. Sevr 1.5's are flat out impressive.

    I ran the 4mm axis all last year and most of this 3d season, I switched to 6mm sonics because I would bury the 4mm's up to the fletchings all the time in targets. The sonics are at 450 as well. 2.75 drivers

    I'm surprised you trust half outs for hunting. The front end of the arrow is very prone to failure if unsupported if you hit bone. I'm using the Snyder core system by iron will. It's about five times stronger than using a half out.

    • @s.g.holmes
      @s.g.holmes  3 месяца назад

      Half outs aren't my favorite, but find these to hold up really well so far against elk, deer, and antelope.

    Would you be able to hot melt the broadhead in?? instead of hot melting the half out collar?? For example, I would want to use the iron will collar and hot melt the Broadhead in.

    • @s.g.holmes
      @s.g.holmes  4 месяца назад

      I think the best solution for a 4mm arrow on what you're mentioning would be Iron Will's Synder Core system. You would get away from the half out, but you would have to go with Deep Six components from what I remember.

      @aguilar4567 4 месяца назад

      @@s.g.holmes okay, I see what you’re saying.. i normally run the Snyder core system with just the collar and hot melting my broadhead in. Was just wondering if I can pull it off with a Sevr broadhead. Looks like the Sevr broadhead furrules are a bit shorter compared to ironwill’s

    After shooting both of those arrows I gotta say the pro comps have my vote over all a slightly better arrow than the long ranges both ran with the titanium half outs both same fletchings same build just different shafts and pro comp wins every time you get what you pay for and if your shooting past 40-50 yards spend the money and boost your confidence at longer range 100000% 🤟

      Depends on what speed you are wanting to get. I like to be between 280-290 fps, personally 285 fps is a great place to be. Once you know what speed you want, build the arrow around that.
