Tips for walking on the treadmill is walk and watch Netflix. I find that I start a series and watch it only on the treadmill. It makes me want to jump on and see what’s next or stay on longer to finish an episode. It really helps it not be monotonous. I just do a “Sunday stroll” on there but it adds up!

Thanks Kiki for this video on exercise. It's not as easy as it looks or sounds. I've lost over 100 lbs 3 different times in my life and have not been able to sustain the weight loss... My wife's best friend came to visit us this winter and she has lost 60 lbs following a low fat plant based diet and she looks amazing. She also walks about 8000 steps a day. She has shared several recipes with us and I was shocked on how tasty the food is without meat or dairy. I believe that following people like YOU , Chef AJ and Dr. Mcdougall I will be successful in my healthy weight loss journey. Have a great rest of your day and weekend. Best to you, ~Stan

If I may suggest that in building habits, every behavior leading up to the habit counts (at first). Print off a blank hundreds chart and if getting out the door is too overwhelming, start with putting on your walking clothes or walking shoes and fill in a box on your chart. As you get going, fill in a box if you only walk 5 minutes. Every behavior closer to your habit counts!

I used to be a fitness instructor, and working out is my favorite activity! However, after I gave birth to my daughter I developed nutritional deficiencies that led to several autoimmune conditions. Over the years they progressed to where, now, I can barely move, much less exercise. I do a little yoga in bed,a few belly lifts in the bathtub, and some floor exercises. I was taught,”Do what you can, when you can.” Plant based is healing me slowly but surely. Having cheerful Kiki as my inspiration helps me focus on the positive, which helps the most! Thank you, sweet girl!🥰🙌

I started walking more, got a tracker and tried for 10,000 steps a day. After a couple of years I got fit enough I decided to run. Just did walk run for a mile and then two and then run a mile…it all builds if you keep the habit to do cardio most days. Now I am running 5k three times a week plus other aerobics like swimming. It feels amazing to really fit. Trackers changed my life. Love my Garmin. And yes, I can still get fat unless I do the diet right. It takes longer though. Exercise really does help you keep the weight off once you get to goal.

I am keeping it very simple, focusing on 50/50 plate and gentle yoga(& now the pool)since I am not yet able to walk daily yet.
Everything is gradually improving. I’m so grateful for you sharing and encouraging us,Kiki. And thankful to God for healing me.🙏

    Kiki, GM!
I have now lost 52lbs. w/ a combo of Dr. McDougall (The Starch Solution recommended by you) Plantiful Kiki, and High Carb Hannah! Thank you so much for all of your sharing and recipes!
I want to say that I appreciate your always upbeat attitude and acknowledgement of all levels of the journey and no matter what the weight loss everyone's journey is different (not impossible though and DEFINITELY yummy with little or no deprivation on your plan!!)
I have not watched all your videos but darn close! Let me also say I am very glad that you do not make any derogatory comments about "meat eaters" (that's one of the more polite terms I have seen in print) and eating "poisons."
I have more weight to lose and am confident that it will come off as I continue to follow your program! The next part of MY journey (now with my husband yay!) is to focus more on meal prep, variety of foods, and more walking. In life, you have to plan for success so I intend to get planning!
Again, thank you for all you do!!❤

This is why living in cities can keep people in shape. Just by walking to a destination back and fifth, 10k steps is nothing. I would walk about 18k steps daily in Europe and would enjoy pastry’s and delicious food without affecting my weight.

Good morning Kiki! Walking does it for me too. I have been wfpb for 8yrs. now and have easily maintained my 52lb.weight loss. Both my husband and I get up early EVERY morning and do mat exercise . He does the push ups and harder stuff and I usually stretch and do alot of yoga moves that help my bad knees. Then we go for a 40 minute walk out in the Arizona desert (in the same area as Hannah) . We do this Every morning without fail because with me I'd be stiff and stove up without it . We have done this for years and it has become just a normal habit we depend on. Again, thanks for the good advice!

I totally agree about doing what you enjoy doing when it comes to exercise. What I really enjoy doing is walking/moving aerobically in front of my TV while watching interesting RUclips videos that are about as long as I want to exercise for. I love learning so I watch Dr Berg or Dr Berry videos, science, talks about the science of anti-aging and health. There’s so much on RUclips. There’s also videos with 1 to 10 mile walking in place videos that are actually fun. Leslie Sansone is great but there are plenty of others. Try out different videos to see what you enjoy. Try yoga, Pilates, barre, qigong or tai chi. I LOVE qigong. It seems weird but my body has really toned up and I FEEL great when I do it daily. So, if you want to start but don’t want to or can’t get out of the house, start in front of your TV. You can even watch one of your hour long shows or get into a whole movie. You’ll thank yourself.

No bending/twisting, etc. So frustrating, since calories in so easy.... but basically no calories out. Walking really does it for me, but I lost weight without walking too. With wfpb that definetely hasn't been a problem. I lost 20kg so far, another 35kg to go. A month ago I started training for the Walk of the World in Nijmegen, where I'll be walking 40km a day in july together with thousands of other people (it's the biggest walking event in the world and a blast). Personally, I've always been the chubby girl who never liked sports, was bullied in school and that pretty much haunted me well into my adult life. So finding this has been a relief and gives me so much confidence. I've reached the point where I wake up excited for another day of training and am having so much fun. That's the key to success I think. 🙂

I' m so happy that you share the idea that walking is a very good gorm of exercising.
The problem is with the arms, when you lose weight. What do you suggest to ameliorate the situation in this part of the body? Thanks Kiki for being with us

Get a pair of hiking sticks and do nordic walking. You can incorporate the arms into your walking routine, it‘s really great.

Consider walking like the racewalkers, but slower, with the arms swinging. I've been walking this way recently, and have noticed more tone in my arms in the last couple of months.

How do you eat differently now that you're in the weight maintenance phase versus when you were in the weight loss phase?

  • @osbo54
    @osbo54 2 года назад

I bought the first step tracker that you recommended off Amazon and what I figured out is it is inaccurate. You don't have to be taking steps...all you need to do is move your arms back and forth as in cleaning, dishes, washing your hair, etc., and it counts those as steps. So, I wasn't getting an accurate count with that so I stopped using it. I did check it out by sitting and just moving my arms back and forth and it counted that as steps. 😒

Oooh I love the Lillys dark chocolate too! I just use it in moderation. Anything you choose to eat is fine in terms of weight loss as long as you dont overdo it on the calories:). No matter what you eat, if you consume more than your body can use in a day, you will gain weight.

I can’t do high carb foods because of my insulin levels. Vegan or plant based worked for me at first but I found that eating so many refined sugars in the form or bread (white or whole grain is the same thing for insulin resistance) pasta, potatoes, and rice, etc.
Was killing me, literally. I had so much anxiety and panic, and once I went into a low carb diet with meats (grass fed only) and healthy fats and lots of non starchy vegetables, my life turned around, and also lost weight.
    Do what works for you.

  • @mary_syl

Workout is good but people need to realize 90% of weight loss IS diet. All workout does is allow you to eat a bit more calories and ofc it helps overall fitness. But it's not a weight loss tool.
So if you're very overweight and only just starting your journey of establishing a healthier lifestyle, don't worry about workout on top of diet - focus on the diet. The pounds will come off. Later on, when you got it figured out and feel like you can also integrate sports, do it slowly. Don't pressure yourself to change everything all at once 👍

Hi! I am new to your channel. I just wanted to say I recently cut out all grains and most not all sugar from my diet. Im 55, i work out 2 days a week trying to do more. I did this for two weeks and havent lost 1 ounce!!!!! I dont get it, I used to eat chocolate every day along with bread, tortilla chips and whatever. I cut all that out how can i not lose a pound. I was so discouraged i went right back to eating what i want. I mean why no if it dosent do a thing. Anyway just needed to vent i guess but im hoping to learn more from your videos and get back on track. When they say its hard to loose weight after 50 they are not kidding. I have always been thin but Covid brought me 30 extra friends im trying to ditch!

It might help to fill up on steamed vegetables with a low calorie dressing either with all your meals or in between. Potatoes are very filling and Kiki has a recipe that includes cutting up a potato, seasoning it with smoked paprika and crisping it up in the air fryer. If you generally like to eat a large volume of food, you can also concentrate on eating foods with the lowest amount of calories per pound.

Am at the same place you are. Those last darn 15 pounds. I find that I eat just a little too much, not a lot, but the fine line to being able to drop the weight. Am afraid to be hungry, and food is calming for me. I really need to maybe take away 1/4 or 1/3 of what I serve myself to change things up. Then maybe the weight will budge off!
