I LOVED this game as a kid (and still do :), and mostly because I was fascinated with all the different tracks that were supposed to be different places from around the world. I was really interested in geography and stuff lol (yeah, I guess I was a nerd :). I remember always wondering if there were real places in the countries they were in that looked like the tracks :) It was my older brother who got this game because he was into cars, so I ended up loving the game too.
Proving Grounds-Great track for beginners! Outback-Easy, but can be rather frustrating Last Resort-Great music here! North Country-Looks tough, and it is! Pacific Spirit-My favorite, because is held in Canada! Mediterraneo-Supernatural drops here! Mystic Peaks-OMGWTF? My mind is blown! Monolithic Studios-Hard to unlock, but it's worth it!
These old NFSs were so diverse in the track selection!! Especially this one. You had one track from almost every continent and with varied landscapes, each with its own music. And some of these tracks were actually hard af. That was the beauty of these games. They made you admire not just the cars but also the locations and the music. Nowadays it's just riced out Honda Civics racing through generic city streets and shitty rap songs.
Best tracks from NFS 1 to 4 and NFS HP 2 (1994 to 2002) Gosh I wish they bring these best tracks and much better in the future of NFS! And Soundtracks are much better than new NFS games. Best Bonus, Best Vehicles, and more! Who yall agree? :D
I also played the game myself and raced against the computer on this track 'Proving Grounds'. I wanted to know what would happen if I pressed the horn while racing. So I did that. My opponent moves aside and I could pass him like that. During the 2nd lap I tried the same trick again and again in the same situation: Opponent goes to the side and I raced past him like that.
Love it!!! In times when the 3D Graphics were in their beginning, the atmosphere, music and everything else that surrounded the game itself was 100x more awesome than todays soulless stupid console kiddie games!
Mediterraneo is so inconsistent and dangerous... Oh man, what a disaster, the hardest track for me; this track doesn't have sharp corners, is a short track, but none of that matters, since this track is extremely dangerous and inconsistent.
Always wonder why they put the old pioneer logo with a silhouette of a cowboy/ranger as the track symbol for proving ground. You would of think like a checkered flag or racing lights that signal go for races to be start would be fitting since proving ground is just a test track for cars.
God his voice is PERFECT for those games. I could probably just listen to him talk and never get bored listening
Mystic Peaks was a really challenging and tough track, but I loved racing on it.

"North Country" was ranked as intermediate but I always thought it was much harder than "Pacific Spirit" or "Mediterraneo"

I remember back in the day I was able to master this track, completing clean laps with the Indigo and the GT1.
