If anyone know anything bout driving a standard dodge diesel. 1st gear it's for starting off with a load on your truck. If you don't had a load, you start off in 2nd gear.
Love the authenticity David brings! Most truck reviewers don't even know how to back a trailer let alone change a spark plug or unclog a fuel filter. This is what pickups were made for.

That Chevy 3/4 ton with the 454 was something else. It pulled that tree (yep, that's a 454 for you). The check engine light came on. (Yep, that's a Chevy for you).
What an awesome video. Great job guys. I think I may have a new favorite TFL video. These guys are the best. Keep videos like this coming. Love this series.
If you didn’t know, an easy way to read that service engine soon light on the 88-95 obs trucks is jump the ground and diagnostic terminal right next to each other with a paper clip. It should automatically flash 12 and then the code which is causing the light to be on. Obd1 is very primitive but gives a general area of what’s going on. My 454 tends to throw the light at highway speeds for a faulty o2 sensor, slow down some and it goes off
Interesting. My diesel does that when I work it hard be it hauling a large load of wood up a hill or going "a little" over highway speed...maybe a lot over.
Locker would be good for more extreme terrain. But LSD is not so bad one needs to complain. Stock Dana didnt fail these axles except with none other than axle seals. Worst part about them. Make you wanna slap the momma of the guy who designed them like that.
David seem to have pulled off a pretty decent paintjob on that Chevy given his equipment and the fact that it was a barn job! It's the perfect work truck paint job, not too bad, and not too pretty either! It looks nice but won't break your heart if you scratch it! ;P
@@kanegrimley8641 what do you base that on? Gas has the better off the line torque, where as the diesel needs the turbo to build boost before I truly begins to make power.
@@The_Crasher-xj4el Uh not sure you got that right. The Dodge has far better torque then the chevy 1500 gas off the line. Horsepower take off is another story. The gas truck has less torque so it spins the tires less at take off but it accelerates faster due to its horsepower advantage compared to the diesel before its turbo kicks in.
Trucks today have better fuel economy AND way more power than those back then. Everybody wants to do LS and coyotee swaps, not some old cast iron big block that gets 11 mpg and less than 300 HP.

Agreed whenever I see a video with David in it I'm stoked
Let's do more videos like this.
Your comments just gave that man a raise. Lol
David is the best he reminds me of my pop
David makes the videos
I love these videos with David. He teaches these young guys some "every guy" tricks. Keep him within the TFL plans because he's fun.
Racing, 4x4ing, and clearing logs...just needed some BBQ and Beer at the end
I think I have to agree with Blaze “gross push bar Tommy”!🤣
It's far better than those Softoppers they keep putting on all those trucks.
Can we stop a moment and talk about the crazy headliner in the Chevy 2500.
David loves headliners!
David is a great addition! I’d like to see him around a little more often. 👍
I love that black Chevy but you won’t be able to pass a gas station with that 454
I put the Holly Sniper kit on my old one (1975) that had a carburetor, and it helped. Still is bad though.
My dad said the same thing when i bought a 20yo cadillac with a 472ci
You'd be surprised how easy on gas the 454 is compared to the 350

Panty dog? Between that and the Tommy Impression about automatics, this video was perfect!
A milestone was achieved today. First time ever 4 hi was used on any TFL channel. Congrats
The Cummins must just be hilarious to drive or ride in. Incredible torque and acceleration for a second, three second pause, repeat.
