DIY - How to install an injector rebuild service kit

- Here's a quick and simple how to video on how to install an injector rebuild kit, or an injector service kit as they are sometimes called.
Fuel injectors are an important part of your car, but after several years of service the amount of fuel and spray patterns get compromised. Luckily injector rebuild kits are readily available, are inexpensive and you can install them yourself easily.
I got mine for $ 17 and it contained everything I needed for the 4 fuel injectors from my 4AGE 16V engine in my 1987 Toyota MR2 mk1 (aw11).
Here's what comes in the kit:
4x pintle caps
4x upper rail spacers
4x lower grommets (also called insulators, or dampers)
4x high-flow micro filters
The o-rings, rail spacers and dampers are easily replaced by hand. The pintle caps need a bit of heating up and the micro filters are replaced by putting a screw into a vice. All in all a 15 minute job that will make your fuel injectors firing like new.
Conventional injectors, unlike modern versions found in direct injection gasoline and diesel engines, very rarely fail. So don't replace them unless you are 100% sure they need to be replaced. A rebuild kit and/or professional cleaning will get them working like new in no time at all.

Injector rebuild kit: amzn.to/2Ni5YLd (please double check fitment for your injectors).
are you sure this link si correct? the kit looks nothing like what you used
I came here to see how to change the microfilter. This helped alot! Thanks!
Hey man, I think I'm about to jump forward with rebuilding my engine from my 89. These videos have been a huge life saving reassurance for me because I honestly have no idea what im getting myself into. But, I figure these are helpful enough that I probably could rebuild the thing myself instead of spending the money on a swap.
Thanks a bunch
Great video, sensible measured pieces of advice that any amateur could understand.
God bless you for putting this video up. I was at my wits end trying to figure out how to get the micro filter out.
Excellent video, best one I have found on RUclips about rebuilding and repairing injectors.
Perfect. Right on time for my 6 to be done. Was curious about the filters myself
Thanks for Sharing! Gotta do this on my Old Toyota Pickup Truck. Was lazy and didnt have a o ring kit when I rebuilt it. Try and get it done this summer :)
I really enjoyed the video, exact process i followed in the BMW E30 and works pretty nice! I would add the use of a nylon hammer, cleaning the inside of inyectors when open (connector wire jumped) with carburetor cleaner and check the injector resistance to avoid repairing a faulty one.
Glad you liked the video. I actually had them professionally cleaned and tested before, and did the rebuild just because all the rubber was old and brittle. Definitely worth doing a check and clean before rebuilding, I agree with you on that.
Thanks for posting this. It will make the job very easy.
thanks a lot excellent video.i have a toyota 1g 6 cylinder engine.did what you showed and it works like new again
Thank you for posting this video. It was very helpful!😀👍
Thank you now to fix my injector problem.
Heads up this is the same process for 450cc dsm injectors too, this video walked me through my entire rebuild 🍻
Great advice with the microfilter removal!
wow i thought I would have to replace them. going to the auto parts store right now! Thanks for the video
Awesome video mate love the work
You forgot to mention the important part,Clean the internal mechanism that deteriorates due to heat soak and separates the fuel into waxes, parafins and olefin.
Very nice sir and your English is very good. Keep up the good work we love it. ❤
Just did mine, and your video helped. Thank you
Akram Rabah Thanks for letting me know. Glad to hear it was useful. Thanks for watching.
Awesome upload!
I’ve watched so many of your vids- time to subscribe
how do you know what size you need for your injectors? Are there different types of kits or all they all standard size?
Great video you save me money. Thank you.
Love the videos! Very informative. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Excellent video
Thank you
Great Video!
Great explanation!!!!
Amazing man
Got a kit coming for my 85 Celica, I was going to order a kit to rebuild my distributor but found some brand new dizzys at a great price on RockAuto so went with that option. I will keep the OEM dizzy though and might rebuild it at some point
Nice video
Great video thanks..
Thank you for this impotant informtion
jassim rutha Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching :)

Teşekkür ederim, faydalandım. 🇹🇷
Хорошее познавательное видео о форсунках ,теперь знаю как разобрать и поменять .Спасибо большое!
Спасибо за просмотр моего видео, я рад, что вам это нравится
Hi. I have an 03 cadillac deville. I was following these steps best I could with what I had based off my injectors.
I could not remove my pintle caps. But even worse I tried to remove my filter baskets using the screw method. DID NOT WORK! I destroyed my injector because part of the filter is still stuck inside. Not sure if any debris fell inside injector. Do I just replace the one injector or replace all? Also do you have any suggestions on removing the fuel baskets on my 03 cadillac deville. Thanks
can you help me which best and good quality of repair kit
Very help full
Thank you very much
Can the needle be flush with the pinto cap does this make a difference?
Will the rebuild kit work on an atv injector?
Such a light hammer for injector work?
Thank you
Wouldn't you also want to give the injector especially the nozzles a good cleanout with a Carby Cleaner or similar whilst you have the injector out and easily accessible? I intend rebuilding my injectors and will be cleaning them thoroughly - many people recommend backflushing which seems reasonable particularly when the microfilter is removed.
Maybe yah if they look gummy but every injector I've ever rebuilt was clean already. As long as its been running clean gas the majority of injectors are pretty clean. I mean it is gas going through after all Haha but yeah just look at them and if they appear to be clogged or gummy then give them a gentle cleaning😊
Hello, could you please share the place where you get the rebuild kit? Thanks
Dima Minko eBay. Just look for "injector rebuild kit (insert engine or car name)".
Is there any need to flush the injectors with anything to clean out any old gunk?
Matthew Barry I had mine ultrasonically cleaned. It's great for getting gunk out. Probably better than a DIY flush. But any sort of flush is definitely a good idea.
Do you have any footage of the fuel rail removal and installation? Many thanks, working on my 89 AW11 currently and need some help
It's just three bolts that hold the rail to the head once you disconnect the hoses. Don't forget to relieve fuel pressure.
How is the o-ring kit holding up? I was wondering where you purchased the kit from?
I got the rebuild kit on ebay. I gave the injectors away to a subscriber during a giveaway. They work fine most likely.
Cool.......................thank you Diego, your right also....................................Bobby
شكرا لك 🌹😍❤️😘
Link en Amazon ???? Cuál es ??
Fantastic, great tutorial. Any risk from light wipe with wd40 or cleaner alcohol fluid to wipe over the whole injector, around tip and inside filter section on injector? All the best.
is it still nesesary to clean the injectors after installing the service kit?
Not really. But it's still a good idea to spray a bit of cleaner through them when you remove the old parts and before installing new ones.
Do new fuel injectors come with Fuel Injector Cushion Ring the Bottom one
It depends on the kit
Great video. Question I have is ....do you not need to lube the o-rings with oring lube? Thks..jc
I didn't and they worked great. Most fuel resistant rubbers (buna-n/ nitrile) usually don't call for any lubrication.
@@d4a great...good to know..thks..jc

Heating pintle with hot water might have been a better idea
I used hot water with the pintle cap installation and can confirm it works a charm
same with 4G15 engine?
do you have a video on how to remove fuel rail bar on a 3.0 v6 Mitsubishi ?
Matthew Walker Nope, sorry.
its been sitting for 3 years but started first kick and ran well till I put my foot down and started to piss fuel on the rear injector seal so I have to pull I down and re do the set. thanks for your video it has helped a lot
+Matthew Walker Glad the video was helpful. Good luck with replacing the seals.
Does these method really works instead of buying new injectors??
Yes, if your injectors are good. You can also clean the injectors. One main reason injectors do not function correctly is the filter becomes clogged or the injector's spray becomes compromised from clogged ports. If the injector isn't spraying properly the fuel does not get atomized correctly thus reducing performance or may not spray much at all. You can clean the injectors using carb/choke cleaner. There are videos of people showing tips on how to do it at home or you can take them to a shop for cleaning. If you are doing it at home you can remove the fuel rail and test them. The easiest way to verify if they need to be cleaned is after removing the fuel rail, connect the fuel rail to the car's fuel line and insert each fuel injector into the fuel rail. Connect each wire connector to the fuel injectors. Now place the whole fuel rail in a position to keep the angle of the spray away from being directed towards you, possibly spraying into a cardboard box. Have an assistant crank over the engine while you watch the fuel injectors spray, maybe record them spraying. You will be able to see if the injectors are clogged at all. If your vehicle hasn't had the injectors serviced, buying the kit above isn't very expensive and is a good service to perform especially on an older vehicle. My son and I just did this on a 1986 Honda Accord. It only has 50,000 original miles on it but when we removed the injectors to test their spray, the o rings were crumbling in our hands and we noticed some of the o ring material has crumbled down inside the injector so we blew it out. We mainly wanted to check the spray because the fuel in the car had been in it for three years and may have gummed up the spray nozzle. If you can, if your car is running, try buying a quality brand fuel injector cleaner that you add to your fuel tank at the same time you get at least half a tank of gas. Pour the additive in the tank then fill up with gas to mix it up well. Drive the car until your low on fuel again so the additive has time to clean your injectors. Then try the method above. If they are still clogged, google some simple ways to directly connect the carb/choke cleaner can to your fuel system to clean the injectors. It isn't hard and basic tools are sufficient.
Is the injector rebuild kit still available? Where have u bought?
I got it on eBay. Searched for Toyota aw11 mr2 injector rebuild kit. I think there are still many available from several sellers.
I got a kit from www.theinjectorshop.com mine was for the 22re but I’m sure they have one for the aw11 as well or whatever engine you need. I paid $12.95 usd and the kit includes 4 micro filters, two styles of pentle caps, and the o-rings grommets and spacers. I’m ditching the aftermarket orings in favor of OEM ones but the micro screens and pentle caps aren’t available through Toyota so gotta go aftermarket for them.
Ebay
but what about the spray pattern ??
Seems like it'll be harder to remove the injectors from the rails than actually rebuilding them lol
My lower grommets won’t sit all the way down and it’s giving me a vacuum leak and fuel spill :/
Wrong kit? Which car is it?

This is gasoline injector?
Can you tell me where you order that kit?

Here you go. I don't know if this is considered advertising or something. But just in case, I am not in anyway supported, affiliated or endorsed by ebay or the subject ebay shop.
thanks dude, I just installed mine and they fit perfectly. Best way to install those caps is push injector and cap against table it pops to in place. No need to warm up.
+Antti Tukse Be careful with that method, you could damage the needle.
My car has done 125,000 miles and I did this to my injectors but I regret doing it because the filters were completely spotless no dirt in them at all if aint broke dont fix it.
Hi! Im roger from the philippines and i have a honda crv 2003 model. Can u put a video on how to dismantle its fuel injector and what is the specs of the honda crv fuel injector? Tnx.
Still trying to figure out why someone would need gloves to replace o rings?
I think he's wearing gloves just as personal preference when working on cars not necessarily to touch the o ring.
Awww, I thought you were pulling the whole thing apart. :(
wondering how the car runs without the microfilter.......
What made you ask that? It would probably run the same but the injector would probably get clogged much sooner. Just guessing tho, never tried it.
In theorie all filters have a resistance, this one probably almost none so probably no restriction.
Except these are 30 year old cars with 30 years worth of crud in the gas tank and the fuel filter only
Does so much to keep particulates out. Since it’s a pain in the ass to get at the injectors on my 22re Toyota I wouldn’t risk that ... most Toyota’s that use these old
Injectors have an upper Intake plenum that wraps around the fuel rail with a load of vacuum hoses and coolant lines blocking access to the injectors and blocking access to the fuel rail bolts so personally I’d just do it right once and forget about it rather than risk having to disassemble and buy a new gasket for the intake which costs as much as the entire rebuild kit for the injectors with new micro screens :)
I miss my mk1
Great INFO, Thank You 😊 The 📌 Amzn has them all
