I love that Win refers to his kid as a dude

The melody to the A verse is the same rhythm as the prechorus to Stayin Alive by the Bee Gees.

"We have a 9 year old, who we've spent a lot of time with"
You don't say! You spent time with your child. Holy shit. Who does that?!?! Only you

But his school when younger being a gauntlet made him a strong man he is today
These kids now will just hop from one safe space to another and the real world when older will be too much to handle because they've been conditioned to become little melting snowflakes

You didn't listen to a single thing he said. High school is at least as hard as it was 30 years ago. The academic and social expectations of a modern teenage life are much greater than during our relatively simple upbringing.

Yeah! Let’s hope they don’t end up a bunch of whining losers like…say…Trump!

The song speaks to the fact that they won't be able to protect him from pain. It celebrates the growth that comes from it. It celebrates the healing that comes from being loved unconditionally. We don't become strong in a healthy way without being cared for and recognized for how amazing we each are in our own way.
Watching my grown daughter now raising her little makes every word of the song their talking about hit so hard. I tear up every time I hear it. Such a beautiful thing to hear Win sing those words to his son.
