the change from 1,000 to 10,000 coins offer from hooktail is due to the new coin limit. in the original game Mario could only carry 999 coins, but in the remaster 9,999
TEC's lens is actually red in the original Japanese version. They changed it to blue outside of Japan for some reason, but it's restored to the original red color in the remake.
Youre missing that in the original, when a Yux shoots a ring at you and hits you, they start a battle and the Yux gets a first strike. But in the remake you only take 2 damage.
Upon first entering the “zigzag” room in the Boggly Tree, the Jabbi that flees to the rightmost room now has the key to the blue cell, as a nudge for the player to follow it. Dropping down to the bottom of the “zigzag” room has Flurrie give a comment about the hidden shop, nudging newcomers to find its nearby hidden entrance. When Crump start the detonation timer at the chapter’s climax, his remote is different from the one used to summon Magnus Von Grapple, being black with a yellow button instead of white with a red button. (The latter is also used for when he summons the 2.0 at the end of Chapter 7) And speaking of Crump, each of his battles (Magus von Grapple, his post Chapter 5 battle and 2.0) get a new remix of the Magus von Grapple theme. (This variation of the same melody is also used for the regular battle theme, Doopliss’s first and final Chapter 4 battles and the 3 Dragons.)
5:25 another reason that Tec’s light was changed from blue to red was that it was red in the original Japanese version, similar to HAL-9000 from 2001 A Space Odyssey.
As usual all these small new details. I would say that this remake is probably the best of the bunch for the Paper Marios ᴵ ʷᵒⁿᵈᵉʳ ⁱᶠ ʰᵉ'ˡˡ ᵉᵛᵉʳ ᵗᵃˡᵏ ᵃᵇᵒᵘᵗ ᵗʰᵉ ᵛᵒⁱᶜᵉˢ ᵒᶠ ᵗʰᵉ ᴺᴾᶜˢ ᵈⁱᵃˡᵒᵍᵘᵉ
The reason for the change to the number of coins Hooktail offers is due to the change in the max number of coins Mario can hold. In the original he could only hold 999 coins, which is one less than 1000, and in the remake he can hold 9999, which is one less than 10000, so he could never actually hold that amount of coins.
CLEARED! would've made more sense in SMP since that game was basically an RPG version of a Super Mario 2D platformer which makes sense since the 2D Mario platformers are called Super Mario Bros. where this 2D Mario platformer style RPG is called SUPER Paper Mario. At least that's how I view it as.😆
I think the sleep status on enemies have been buff in the switch version because it seems like they won't wake up when in attack in the switch version and will sleep all turns when in the original gamecube version they have a chance to wake up. Maybe I got lucky but then again i think it was changed
I don’t think you have mentioned this, but when you pick up an item and your inventory is full, you can immediately use a healing item. Instead of dropping an item, healing, then picking it up again. A great quality of life change.
6:00 I discovered that Bowser actually comments on those statues if you examine them. Not sure if you could do that in the original or not. I don't remember. If not, then that's a really cool new addition.
One small change you're missing from TEC. In the original a small series of beeps would play when its speech bubble would pop up. Now there's no sound other than the new dialogue sounds when it's speaking
In the original game, the flip panel in Flurrie's room does not have black underneath like all the other flip panels. That is not the case in the remake.
HAL9000 is 1,000 percent the reference with the red eye on TEC. Based on the old old movie 2001’s a space odyssey Which is almost the entire plot of peaches and tecs relationship Really cool nod
Was it worth it to pay 58€ of Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door HD Remake for the Nintendo Switch if I love Paper Mario games like Origami King and because I've never had the Nintendo Gamecube and never got a chance to play TTYD on Gamecube? Paper Mario TTYD HD Remake looks so amazing and fun looking RPG Adventure game and the Best Paper Mario before Origami King! 😊❤
2:53 A Stupid Change. I always saw it as Mario waving Hi to the other person. Whoever first came up with that idea had to have deliberatly went out of their way for THAT of all things to pop in their head.
Wow. Who knew that something simple like comparing the differences between a remastered game vs its original is copyrighted? Couldn't be me Get over yourself
There is a huge one that sticks out for me and nobody is talking about it. When standing before the thousand year door, the animations that play out have been severely nerfed. The glowing floor pattern, which used to be made of an array of spike shaped points of light, is now just a solid shape on the ground. When the location of the next star appears on the map, the whole scene is enveloped in a wave of light which looked like translucent tiles being displaced by the wave. Now it's just smooth. No tile texture. And then finally a punchy paper effect appears behind Mario but it's much less impactful in the remake. All of that was. There are a few other examples of nerfed effects, like getting a level up or a BINGO! or chapter endings.
The pipe thing has me really messed up. I have the muscle memory down for going down pipes. Now I have to be in the center of the pipe and press a. Why not keep it the same? Or the speech bubbles and exclamation point? Those were way nicer looking than the "Press a to _________".
I’m glad it’s that way. I’ve never played the original, but with the way pipes work, I’m glad. I’ve played more games that have the player press A for pipes that go down.
@@absol-lutezero5309Nobody knows. Because it’s not offensive whatsoever that Mario is waving to the person, because that’s what he’s doing when he raises his hand. He’s saying hello 👋. Guy says “obvious change” when it’s not obvious whatsoever and a stupid change.

Inflation from them to now basically
Hooktail is keeping up with the economy
I came here to say inflation lol
TEC's lens is actually red in the original Japanese version. They changed it to blue outside of Japan for some reason, but it's restored to the original red color in the remake.
Presumably it was changed due to how similar it was to HAL9000, maybe the localizers felt they could get in trouble
Having it reference HAL actually makes sense since that is literally what it is originally referencing.
Youre missing that in the original, when a Yux shoots a ring at you and hits you, they start a battle and the Yux gets a first strike. But in the remake you only take 2 damage.
it's not just yux. every projectile
You can now die with bump attack as a result.
I didn’t really think a battle starting after a Yux hitting the player like that makes sense, since the Yux isn’t physically hitting the player.
