There are many wonderful Odette/Odiles, but Alicia Alonso is the only ballerina I have ever seen who truly makes Odile as she is supposed to be in the traditional telling of the story - a girl pretending to be Odette, but with added sexuality and seductiveness. Her Odile is truly an Odette who has just discovered her sexuality and seductiveness - still soft and gentle, even shy, but sensuous and with a girlish excitement at her new sexuality. The way in which she reacts to Rothbart is obedient, as if she too, like Odette, is under his spell. Her Odile even breaks character, slightly, when she is not directly in the prince's focus, becoming stronger and more imposing, showing us that it is all an act. For once I can understand why the Prince is fooled! Such a beautiful and detailed performance, truly a masterpiece. RUclips really grants us such treasures at times
Alonso is fantastic in this role. I think Maya Plisetskaya and Alicia Alonso are the best that I’ve seen. They are quite different but equally convincing. I must say that Margot Fontaine is among the top interpreters of this role.
@@l.roffare7605 Ma certo!

They had lights backstage that they would flash, so she would know where to go. She was fearless. She would always do one or two rapid movements in the White Swan pad de deux, so the prince wouldn't look like such a fool when Odile does her fast movements. Alicia would allow the prince to make a plausible mistake. The sound quality is horrendous, which makes me think this was in the 1940's, and my father was conducting. He followed her. They were a duo. But especially Igor, he was there exactly where she expected him to be. She never worried that she was going to fall when he was there. Did you see how she held her balances after the most difficult steps? I love when she tears the house down, and the ballet theatre turns into a hockey stadium. :-) Do you have the credits for this TV program? (sorry)
This is black swan from alicia alonso and Azari Plisetksy...this footage was taken 1968 and it was recorded by the cuban Broadcasting television and only have the excerpt and really interesting story you have👍👍💖💖

If this took place in 1968 as someone posted, it means that she was already 48 years of age. As John mentioned, she was a miracle.
She is so regal.

She was and is a fascinating primaballerina! Who made this Choreography? Some special difficult for Alicia?
Very old school version. Lupe Serrano and early Margot Fonteyn did much the same thing.
@@jcliff26 Fonteyn? I dont think so
@@rogeliofernandez7098 Yes. There’s videos of a very young Fonteyn doing much what Alonso did here on RUclips.

Would you have the 1st and 2nd acts of this performance?
Sorry, no.
Do we know what year was this?
Is Rothbart invisible as he pleases, or are Sigfried and the entire assemblage under his spell and can’t see or don’t care that he’s orchestrating …?

Alicia Alonso was not as good as I had previously thought.
You DO realize at this stage of her career she was mostly blind and in her late 30’s or even 40’s. She’s a miracle.
