Hi, just taken delivery of one of these. Spent over an hour trying to figure out changing the blades by following the instructions. Gave up and almost returned it. Watched your video and 10 minutes later I was in the garden trimming away. Thanks for a brilliant video.
You are the man! I already sent one back thinking it didn’t work. The stupid instructions on this device were not very clear or the operator himself can’t follow instructions as well! But your video was perfect thank you so much!
I was warned that swapping tools on this one was tricky, but still needed this brilliant video to get it done. The usability engineers at Makita need to do their homework. Thank you!
Well done Gerard. I bought my wife this tool as a present (and they say romance is dead). Makita though left me high and dry with a less than helpful tool change guide. Your clear guide however shows me what Makita engineers fail to achieve. Well done and thank you. My wife says thanks as well!
Great video. M a gardener and I was thinking of replacing my worn out Sthil version of the same tool with this Makita one. But after watching how much hassle it is to change over the blades, I’ll just get another Sthil machine. The blades just click in, and off again with the press of a button to release So much easier to change blades.
The grass shear attachment would have to improve to be called “anemic”, and without these helpful RUclips videos, I would still be struggling to change attachments. The hedge trimmer attachment is great at cutting grass, and for that reason I’ve retired the grass shear attachment… forever. My advice: buy this tool with the hedge trimmer attachment only.
That is true. The grass cutter is useless (better buy a Makita graas trimmer with a nylon cutting wire). The hedge cutter lacks power but I use it sometimes for thin twigs with one hand operation. But better buy a real hedge cutter. So I would never buy this product. I got it for free together with a battery powered Makita grass trimmer.
@@Gerard_Hugo Thank you. I think I will take this item: Makita DUH523Z. My wife want some aid instead of manual scissors for trimming "Cotoneaster dammeri", which has up to 10-15mm twigs. As reviewers wrote, 1cm twigs cuts with no problem.
I bought this tool and returned it the next day. It was just a complicated underpowered piece of monkey 🙊 💩. This is the 1st Makita tool that I was so disappointed with. I went for the Makita hedge trimmer next and it works like a little champ.
This is a terrible tool from Makita, it is too heavy with the battery to be operate with one hand. Changing of blade is terrible while other brands just snap-on I returned mine right back no more Makita
Worst hedge trimmer ever….i have an old 12v black and decker is far more powerful. I have tons of 18v Makita tools that work great, this is my worst. I can trim new boxwood growth, very soft. That’s it.

Totally same happen to me.Thanks, mate.
Same for me. Instructions are totally crap. Had to watch video too.

Thanks for this. The manual was hopeless 😄
Thank you , finally understood how to change blades thanks to you ❤️
Thank you. I was completely stumped before seeing this
Thanks Gerard, i fix tools for a living and we didnt have the manual available, your video was very helpful
Thanks Gerard, very helpful. Much appreciated. This definitely wasnt clear in the instructions.
This is a nice tool with the hedge trimmer. Easy to use and cuts well. Soft stuff only. Get the petrol one out for serious cutting.
Merci beaucoup, c'est la seule vidéo avec une telle qualité d'explication.
Still finding it impossible to replace the cover at 2.14. I have lined it up but it will not attach when I turn it.
The person writing manuals at Makita should be fired.
Or me.
Because nowhere was written “turn the crank upside down”.
Thank you, sir.
Thanks very much for your instructions here, the manual is not worth looking at, very confusing. Makita should pay you for these instructions :)

Extraordinario tu video, sin decir 1 palabra, fuiste super claro. Gracias!
Thank you so much :-) This video was perfect. Makita should pay you for this !!!
Thank you :) I was fighting with this tool for 20 minutes. I'm happy I picked this video first!
Thanks very much. Could not work it out ourselves

Thanks, this video was very helpful
Thank you so much for posting this. The Makita manual is no help at all with switching blades, so poorly written.
exactly what i needed. the instructions are very unclear in the manual
Me too
for your safety.. remove battery first.. then work on the tool
Muito obrigado, não estava conseguindo colocar uma lamina por um simples detalhe , de inverter a manivela.
Thank you, it wasn't clear enough in the manual
Best video on RUclips - can you offer to rewrite the instructions for Makita?
Is it worth to buy? It seems that a bit thicker twig will stop it. :-/

@@PedroKV Seems as a good choice. Gerard
How good until now?
You saved my day with this video!
What pliers did you use? I'll need to buy one and I'm unsure which one will do the job.
You can just flip it out with a screwdriver too. In fact I used a teaspoon to do the job 🙌
Look like needle nose pliers

Wish I had watched this before wasting 20 minutes of my life.
Thank you! 🙏😊
Спасибо тебе добрый человек. Я из оригинально инструкции не понял что шатун надо перевернуть. Не мог понять почему не встает в паз насадка.
Thanks for the info
This video is so helpful
Good tool for road rage defence.
Beste MAN 👍👌
This is a terrible tool from Makita, it is too heavy with the battery to be operate with one hand.
Changing of blade is terrible while other brands just snap-on
I returned mine right back no more Makita
Благодарю! Хороший обзор!
Dziękuję
too much trouble.
Thank you sir.
Merci pour le tuto sas toi je n'y serais pas arrivé !!! 😅
Helpful thanks
Thanks a lot.
Great, cheers.
Go gerard 💪
