    Ok, so just finished sewing all my pattern pieces this morning, super helpful video! A few tips/tricks:
    1) If you don't have a sharpie on hand, using chalk/tailors chalk is another super easy option for tracing the pattern pieces.
    2) If you happen to have a "walking foot" (usually used for quilting) I found that helped a lot with machine sewing the fur.
    3) If you are curvy like myself, don't be afraid to add darts to the butt part of the pattern, and if you don't have the space to flip over the half patterns on the fabric, it's ok, just cut 2 pieces instead of 1 and don't forget seam allowance.
    Thank you so much for posting all these walkthroughs/tutorials!! You guys are amazing. 😁

    Is it impossible to do this without a sewing machine? If it's not impossible how difficult is it to do by hand?

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  2 года назад +8

      It is absolutely possible to make without a sewing machine. If you’re sewing by hand, I’d recommend a whip stitch. It should be relatively quick to do, and still pretty sturdy. Make sure you use a strong thread and be careful combing out the seams 😊

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  Год назад +3

      For this one I think we ended up using 1 and a half rolls. The sturdier you make the leg form, the more you can use it for either digitigrade legs or custom boots, leggings, etc!

    • @PremiumFauntent

      You can cut out the shapes of the markings, then cut out the same shapes from your pattern pieces and stitch the accent colors pieces into the holes. We could do a separate tutorial on that if you’d like!!

      We have used a variety of companies! You can find quality furs on Etsy, through Fabric.com, FursuitSupplies.com, or CRSCrafts.com! 😊 it mainly depends on what pile length, fur texture and color you’re looking for.

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  2 года назад +2

      We usually get at least 2 yards. For context, Nova and Hazel are 5’10”, Lyra and Onyx are around 5’6-5’7, and Lily and Grimmy are around the 5’2-5’4” range, and we have a range of sizes. I (Hazel) got 3 yards last time and had enough to remake the thighs, tail, ears and shoes.

    • @PremiumFauntent

      2 inches is the minimum. You can of course go longer if you prefer the shaggier look, but 2 inches at least will help disguise the seams.

    I feel inept bc I keep having to ask questions- I was seeing the front and butt pieces and did a quick try on- even with the pattern and enough seam allowance- the back is still too low for my big butt- I still have plenty fabric, so any suggestions/tips to fix this the second time around??? Help

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  Год назад +2

      No worries!! You can add a panel of fabric to the top of the butt area for more coverage in the back. Just make sure you trim the backing carefully so the fur fibers can hide the seam. I (Hazel) had to do the same thing last year after I gained some weight, and you really couldn’t tell it was an additional piece I kind of curved the additional piece so that it was a bit high in the middle (along the spine) so I wouldn’t have to worry about bending or crouching. When I remade the thigh and hip portions this year, I followed the added piece and basically have the waist of my legs at the natural waist in the back, then it curves down to just under the belly button in the front. Lyra’s legs go to her natural waist all the way around. Does that help? If not, I can try to make a quick video that explains it a little better 😊

    how many yards of fabric would you say is needed?

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  8 месяцев назад

      That ultimately depends on your measurements, but 2 yards of 58-60 inch wide faux fur has been enough for our group (and we have a variety of body types. If you want to know for sure, you can create the duck tape pattern pieces before you place your order to know exactly how much you’ll need. We always recommend giving yourself some wiggle room, in case of errors/accidents or to make the ears and tail as well!

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  Год назад +1

      A sewing machine isn’t required, but it makes the process go much quicker. If you hand sew the legs, just take your time and reinforce the seams!

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  Год назад +2

      It depends on your height and size, but 2 yards of 60” fur tends to be enough for the legs, hooves, and ears! 😊

  • @slidezzz526
    @slidezzz526 Год назад +2

    Hi there! I don’t know if you’ve said this before but where do you get your fur for these projects if you’re in the US? I’ve been trying to look for fur that doesn’t break the back, especially considering I want to trim the fur for a shorter look.
    Do you have any recommendations with that as well? With trimming and making the fur shorter?

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  Год назад +1

      We’ve used a variety of vendors for fur including Etsy shops, Fabric.com, FursuitSupplies.com, and CRCrafts.com. We recommend at least a 2 inch pile of fur to make sure you can comb out the seams, but you could carefully trim that down once the seams are combed out. Previously, I’ve (Hazel/Kelly) used a fur that was a bit shorter than 2 inches and it worked okay. How short are you looking to go?

    • @slidezzz526
      @slidezzz526 Год назад +2

      @@PremiumFauntent short, but not buzzed short. Long pile fur as is is too long for what I want, but I also just want to be careful because I don’t have an unlimited budget. Thanks for replying!!! ^^

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  Год назад +1

      1-1.5 inch pile would work! It’s still enough to hide the seams but gives a much sleeker look. Just be careful when cutting the pattern pieces so you only trim the backing and not the actual fur fibers, otherwise you can end up with missing chunks. Short fur is much less forgiving!

    Where do you buy your fur?

    • @PremiumFauntent
      @PremiumFauntent  Год назад

      We buy from a variety of vendors! You can find quality faux fur from CRCrafts.com, FursuitSupplies.con, Etsy, and occasional JoAnn Fabrics and Amazon (formerly Fabric.com before the acquisition). The main things to keep in mind are pile length and the width of the fur, as you have to cut each piece in the same direction.
