Read from the Bible the Book of John which openly declares in a few places that Jesus is also God......John 1:1-5, John 6:38-40, John 10:30-37 and John 14:9. ( there's more actually but this should be enough....)

Verses 23-30 is now also crystal clear that what Jesus was telling them was HIS ROLE at that time on the earth as the Son ( God the Son ). Don't forget that He had a mission on the earth at that time and He was made flesh ( as a human being ) and so in the flesh, has to function accordingly but in perfect example as an obedient Son to the will of the Father to accomplish what He had to accomplish and also to set an example for all flesh ( mankind ) to follow..... The no one plucking the faithful from BOTH the Father's hand and His hand is also easily applicable and true....in fact, if you have studied the Bible carefully you will see and understand that for a true Christian today, the Holy Spirit ( God the Holy Spirit ) is also involved in helping a true Christian remain in faith today and not only the Father and Son...ALL THREE play their roles in teaching, leading and guiding their children or sheep in their faith walk with HIM ( one God ). That is so easy to accept and understand when the issue about the ONE TRIUNE GOD is settled once and for all in the heart and mind..... The "one" in John 17:21 makes the whole concept of believing and walking with this one triune God the MORE meaningful and amazing once it is also understood that it is even POSSIBLE that man is able to also become ONE with this ONE GOD because of what Jesus had accomplished with His death and resurrection...I acn't help but want to shout a BIG HALELUYAH with this!!!! This is only possible in the spirit realm and GOD IS SPIRIT and "born again man" made possible by the resurrection of Jesus Christ who is God the Son has made this possible and that's why its possible to be joined to this ONE GOD IN THE SPIRIT THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.... About your conclusion, its the same as what I had just explain above and this can only be understood when applying the "spiritual" context to the whole thing....yes, its possible that the disciples can literally in the spiritual realm, BE ONE with the Father and Jesus and that's why Jesus just said it plainly and its NOT only in purpose, BUT In spirit and soul as well where even the spiritual body will be joined on Rapture Day when He comes to Rapture His Church as promised by Him after 2,000 years....... Its the same with God...He exist in 3 persons, YET He is ONE GOD...Its impossible for the human being to fully comprehend this until the FULL knowledge of it is made known to us in Heaven when our capacity to understand all things is greatly enlarged and enhanced at that time....meantime the examples of man being "3 in 1" or even an egg being 3 in 1 as an initial example to us should be sufficient for man's faith in believing Him and what He says in His Word and that is also what "faith" is all about...
From there, all the verses in the Book of John and any where else in the whole Bible, suddenly becomes clear and easy to understand where God the Father has His role, God the Son has His role and God the Holy Spirit has His role, YET He is still ONE GOD....sometimes the most complex and difficult things to understand just needs a child-like ( not childish )simple faith to believe and accept it and suddenly even the WORD Of GOD can become clear and understandable...that's the beauty ( and power ) of faith.....
Now let's deal with John 10:30......." I and My Father are one" ( how absolutely true and correct is that when we just understand what has been explained above....)
Verses 23-30 is now also crystal clear that what Jesus was telling them was HIS ROLE at that time on the earth as the Son ( God the Son ). Don't forget that He had a mission on the earth at that time and He was made flesh ( as a human being ) and so in the flesh, has to function accordingly but in perfect example as an obedient Son to the will of the Father to accomplish what He had to accomplish and also to set an example for all flesh ( mankind ) to follow.....
The no one plucking the faithful from BOTH the Father's hand and His hand is also easily applicable and true....in fact, if you have studied the Bible carefully you will see and understand that for a true Christian today, the Holy Spirit ( God the Holy Spirit ) is also involved in helping a true Christian remain in faith today and not only the Father and Son...ALL THREE play their roles in teaching, leading and guiding their children or sheep in their faith walk with HIM ( one God ). That is so easy to accept and understand when the issue about the ONE TRIUNE GOD is settled once and for all in the heart and mind.....
The "one" in John 17:21 makes the whole concept of believing and walking with this one triune God the MORE meaningful and amazing once it is also understood that it is even POSSIBLE that man is able to also become ONE with this ONE GOD because of what Jesus had accomplished with His death and resurrection...I acn't help but want to shout a BIG HALELUYAH with this!!!! This is only possible in the spirit realm and GOD IS SPIRIT and "born again man" made possible by the resurrection of Jesus Christ who is God the Son has made this possible and that's why its possible to be joined to this ONE GOD IN THE SPIRIT THROUGH JESUS CHRIST....
About your conclusion, its the same as what I had just explain above and this can only be understood when applying the "spiritual" context to the whole thing....yes, its possible that the disciples can literally in the spiritual realm, BE ONE with the Father and Jesus and that's why Jesus just said it plainly and its NOT only in purpose, BUT In spirit and soul as well where even the spiritual body will be joined on Rapture Day when He comes to Rapture His Church as promised by Him after 2,000 years.......
