I was damn close to getting their coffee machine before i realised it was just my need for new toys and not through necessity that was the driving force.
Honestly for the price of this thing, I could set up an entire solar inverter system with batteries in the van, and then be able to not only use any microwave/cooking appliance or any corded tools, but charge my batteries instead of discharging them. For half or a third of the price, this might actually be something that's worth it.
I've been looking at leisure battery charged off the alternator to an inverter and that'd cost about half the price of this microwave and then I can pick up a cheap one off marketplace but I'm on a big site ATM so they have a microwave
The problem with this contraption is that it should have a detachable cord when you have access to electricity to conserve battery life. This would make it worth the price.
A battery microwave is pretty cool but can think of better ways to spend $1000. Wish Makita would bring out some decent nailers and bigger 18v batteries
I can understand its use if you are already part of the makita ecosystem or working out in the middle of nowhere but its easy enough just to go past 7-11 and use their microwave.

I mean by the time you get an inverter and a microwave and running all the cables and the setup in a work vehicle building a shelf or something for it (providing everything you get is new). tbh it's not far off the cost of the makita microwave. (minus the batteries, although if you're reppin makita you would most likely already have this range of batteries) All and all looking forward to purchasing it. side note I had been following you on tiktok for a while and just realised you had a youtube channel. First to market I'm not surprised it's $999 AUD. If you're not on the XGT platform then it's going to be a lot more expensive but I think it's worth it if you're going to use it multiple times a week Edit: FYI, the XGT platform is worth every dollar
Its cool but its cheaper to buy a simple 1500w inverter for ~$200aud and a cheap 100 amph lithium battery with a 150 amp contin disharge for ~$700aud and spend 50 bucks on a kmart 1200w microwave that will cook your food in under half the time
Can always chuck it on 10 mins before smoko and most smokos arent fully frozen so probably only need 2ish mins in real life but 1000 bucks 😬 for microwave feels wrong imo 😂
@@MattWoods-wd7un yeah i agree with all that but its cheaper to have a 12v inverter setup then a makita microwave and its quicker, if it was only quicker i would understand the 40v microwave more but when its both cheaper and faster its a no brainer to get a 12v setup
@@MattWoods-wd7un especially now i made that comment about a year ago and the prices to build awsome offgrid setups has absolutely plummeted since then you can now build a setup capable off all that just for 600 bucks
I don’t think i would get this personally. I would rather just have a gas Coleman or something similar. Better food when your done too. Plus they absolutely missed the mark by not making this able to be plugged in as well. A compact microwave that could run on batteries or be plugged in would be very useful IMO even if just for the size. I’m also not a huge fan of the power rating but i understand it. Overall might work great for some people though. But i could cook some hotdogs hamburgers sausage etc in the same time it takes this because of the power rating on a portable burner or grill plus cook some for my buddies at the same time if needed.
I agree. A compact job site microwave is really more the necessity. The battery capability would be nice in a pinch, but most of the time the issue with having a microwave on site is having one small enough to carry around vs. not having power at all to plug into
Another gimmick for the chippy trailer that has it all. Battery fridge, coffee machine, microwave, and when Makita makes a toasted sandwich maker there will be no reason for them to have an inverter. Bring back the battery bike Makita.

I bought a 700W microwave for $50 and use my Ryobi 1800W inverter. It was great while camping this summer.
