- This video will show you how to eliminate the rear deck rattle that you experience when listening music in a BMW e46 or any other BMW. The e46 is not the only BMW that experiences this problem. Follow this DIY if you have the same issue.

Rattle in your trunk means u got BASS lol.
You should do a b4 after sound test. Like with the exhaust thing so we can hear the difference b4 and after. My rattling is coming from my passenger door/ window very annoying.

If there’s 6x9s in the trunk without a tweeter, they are really considered subwoofers because the bass is so deep. That’s a good thing though for a stock sound system.

me too my 01 325 CI with HK has rattled sine the day i bought it new
the dealer was no help either ,i brought it back under warranty twice and they never fixed it , but do either of you have a chirping sound?
my car has also always made a high pitch squeaking sound like a bird almost when the bass is high it sounds like it is coming from the lid behind the back seats but i could never in point it , i find that to be much more annoying than the deck rattling
Andrea Mitchell no i don’t have a chirping sound, just the rattling. Try looking through e46 forums. I’d recommend you check out E46Fanatics, the community helped me fix a-lot of problems.

Wrong. Go to hobby lobby buy quilt liner pack it tight around the rear deck speakers inside the rear deck don't block the speakers. Basically insulate the rear deck.
Not wrong. the tennis balls absorb the rattle and they leave plenty of airspace for the woofers to do their job. Trust me I tried both ways!! Tennis balls = perfection
Pro Tip: DO NOT disconnect the wire that connects the subwoofer to the car. It is extremely difficult to get back on; I ended up just hammering mine back in.
