Oh way to go! Really appreciate all of this:
    - helping a seriously committed patriot
    - putting the story online
    - towing long distance with a Lightning
Hey! Time to set up a GoFundMe for this truck and this vet's family!
I really like my Lightning, but it is not perfect, and I appreciate your attitude about working with the strengths and weaknesses. Just about to get my Tesla adapter, and I am so relieved that you did that well on a long trip.

Thanks for the kind words. We actually do have a go fund me set up for him. It's in the video description. We're trying to get him back on the road, never met someone who deserves it more than Joe.

Awesome video I was having flashbacks of my trip from Arkansas to Georgia from the eclipse viewing. I did use that Francis energy charger at that hotel, which is on the Ford map, but it was 2 miles down the road on the map.
Of course, when I got home, my Tesla adapter was waiting for me. Sorry you had to stop in Douglasville.

In a lightning facebook group with you that led me to all of your videos. After a spending the day watching all of them related to the lightning, I first wanted to thank you so much for the content. Unfortunately, I have a very similar story. Preorder the lightning, waited for over 2 years, finally received my truck and loved mostly everything about it. About 5 months back I was in an unfortunately accident that left my 2023 F150 lightning totaled (even though I do not believe the damage is that extensive). After months of back and forth and an ongoing legal battle my insurance is also refusing to pay even though I have full coverage. I just got my totaled truck back a few weeks ago and would love if I could possibly get in contact with you to discuss my issue further. Thanks again!

Great video, Martin. You two are doing a great thing.
I don’t know if I missed it or what, but how come insurance isn’t covering it? That’s too bad.

That should come out in future videos as he is still fighting with them over it.

Great video! I look forward to seeing the rebuild. Suggestion - When showing the temperature of something (charging plug or similar) also show or say the ambient temperature. A plug at 120F when it is 90F outside is fine, but is way overheating if its only 40F outside... Anyway, cool that you are helping rebuild this truck.

Omg you’re awesome !!!! Keep doing this channel please. My lighting was wrecked and I’m trying to fix it also but it is stuck in crash mode it getting going into park instead of moving any recommendations on what I should do

Sorry for the delayed reply. Did you get it fixed? The scan tool I use is a Launch scanner and it works fairly well to clear codes that prevent the truck from moving. I also use fords software (FDRS) to diagnose and fix issues that come up during the build process.

Isn't the Cab the same as the standard Aluminum F150 ? seems like the damage area is generically available F150 items locally available anywhere. If EV powertrain damaged that's more compilated for sure.

I am working to confirm that now. We actually bought a brand new cab from Ford for Joe's lightning and I am going to compare it to a 22 ICE F-150 to see if they are interchangeable. The part numbers for a 22 Lariat Lightning and 22 Lariat 5.0L are different. But I am going to find out if its anything important. So far, I think an ICE cab would work from the looks of things.

What insurance company did he have?

I cannot see owning an electric truck, let alone a car. As soon as you stated how many stops you needed, I saw the uselessness of an EV. I cannot imagine trying to pull my 22ft travel trailer with that and how many stops it would require going out to Colorado from Northern Mi. Just not a practical vehicle. Battery technology is not there yet on these.

So you chose this particular video about a family dealing with an unfortunate situation to come in and hate on EVs? OK!

Imagine if you live in the days of the horse and buggy...Then imagine when the first vehicle came out. Technology takes time. Were walking around with smart phones today, but it wasn't so long ago that I was dialing on a rotary phone and the only way you could reach someone was either a pay phone or on someone's home phone. Gas vehicles haven't always been able to go 600+ on a tank. When I started driving, you were lucky to get 300 miles on a tank of gasoline. It will come around in time just like everything else. Be thankful for the older people that have plowed the way in technology. The youth doesn't seem to have the drive the older generations did.

@CallOnColin the video title is kinda misleading. No, I came to watch a video on what the deal was why it couldn't be fixed like any other vehicle. I am guessing minimal insurance, comprehensive at best. A deer hit my Subaru last fall, and it cost well over 5k for the repairs. We still have it on full coverage . I realize the family has hardships. I couldn't justify spending that kind of money for any vehicle in their situation for anything, let alone an electric truck. That IS the reality of the situation. My parents had 5 kids. We NEVER owned a vehicle that nice. Money was always tight. I couldn't imagine it today.

@@scottfirman Its a video series with many more to come. The title will make sense as we repair the truck and let Joe deal with this situation as it is still developing. I appreciate your stance on EV's. They certainly are not for everyone. For me, no way I am going back to gas. The lightning does everything I want it to better than any of my gas or diesel trucks. So for my situation and use case, its an awesome truck.

@@CallOnColinit’s obvious that’s not why he came on here. Your continues hate in your own mind took it that way. You’re out of control! Ok 😂

Thank you for showing what a joke EV's are...The blind adulation would be funny if not for the ridiculousness of what you just went through...
