Hope you guys enjoy! Some honorable mentions: Mai defeats Joey (S4) - Had Joey not been exhausted from his duel VS Valon, this probably would have made it. Rin defeats Yugo - This definitely could have made it, probably is my #11. Noah (kind of) defeats Kaiba - Noah actually didnt defeat Seto, Yugi took over for Seto. Otherwise this would have probably been top 3. Dylan defeats NAS - ;)
Yugioh Everything in Fate stay night Anime Mai Apperd as Caster the servant as the Villan I know this means I heard the voice of Caster and the voice of Caster is actually the Voice of Mai from Yugioh DM
Actually if i did not forget about that rin vs yugo duel or rin altogether i totally would have mentioned that one. another kinda loss that could have been mentioned was joey losing to marik since he really looked like he was going to win.
Yugioh Everything Fun fact. Joey could have won that duel if he had attacked the cyber harpy lady without the equip card which would have dealt 300 extra damage, thus winning him the duel. He just didn't know the equip spell could be equipped on another harpy once the equipped one is destroyed.
And totally unnecessary lost.. But i guess they used it to make him "dark underground lord duelist" which i actually liked.. He was my fave from the beggining, especially after that transformation..
The biggest bs they've pulled with Kaiser was him loosing against the vampire woman...I mean come on, all through the series until this point he talked how unimportant emotions during duelling are and how weak Cyrus is and so on, yet he literally betrayed his own principles and even was the *SECOND* MC who lost against the *FIRST* shadow duelist?! I call heavily bs on this considering that he's at that point still above judai level (who basically solo'd all shadow duelists).
I remember watching it as a kid and was in complete and utter shock when Yugi lost, I stopped watching the show for weeks. To this day whenever I think of Yugioh I'm always reminded of that loss.
Pate Gaming. Whats shocking is that he won with mothafuckin guardians. Guardians of all things. The first duel atem lost without any cheating involved, and he lost to guardians
Pate Gaming it's a retarded way to end a duel when everybody and their mothers know that Yugi would never use the seal card. He'd sooner use it as discard bait before playing it lol.
No Joey vs Marik? Yeah we all expected Marik to win at first, but Joey legit would've won had he attacked. Joey in a way did what Atem couldn't do; defeat Marik legitimately.
MobiusLeader007 Yami Marik had one life point left and th card he always has to depend on, the winged dragon of ra, was permanently removed from the field. Yami Yugi would've beat Yami Marik even if good Marik didn't step in and surrender.
@@DarthUchiha91 Wasn't every duel that Joey had after the one with Marik filler though? Kaiba vs Joey was filler The tournament arc after that was completely filler as well And he never had a duel in the last season as far as I remember.
yes, that was a ridiculous way the writers of the anime find to make Yusei not lose, in my mind he totally lost this duel, counting 3 loses to yusei: 1- against Jack in the flashback. 2-against Kiryu when he fell of the bike and 3- against team Unicorn
Atem vs Raphael was really interesting. Raphael took advantage of Atem's drive to win at all costs (Willing to let Kaiba commit suicide) by giving him the Card to throw off his Game. That made Atem very distracted and the Necklace he wears was enticing his evil desire to play it with possibly the Help of Zorc who also resides in the Puzzle. It also is a way of us non-manga readers a glimpse of how sadistic Atem was in the Early Chapter. It also showed that Yugi is the one who keeps Atem's soul from being corrupted since Yugi is Considered the Light Side of the Puzzle.
No mention of Yusei vs Kiryu? True, the duel was terminated at the very last second, but I still count it as a loss for Yusei, since he had no counter for Kiryu's Earthbound God, and his lifepoints would have hit 0. Oh, and his bike crashed and he had a piece of metal lodged in his gut that needed surgery... in the middle of the slums with no hospital. Goddamn, he got fucked up in that episode. One of the most brutal and visceral ends to a duel I've ever seen.
I count it as a loss too, but to avoid any confusion I just omitted it from the list since people are so split on it. Had Yuseis LP hit 0, I definitely would have had it most likely in the top 5!
10.leo's defeat from Aporia (resulting his death before coming back to life) 9.Ute/Yuto's defeat from Yugo 8.Jaden's defeat from Edo 7.Yugo's defeat from Yuri 6.Atem vs Raphael 5.Mirag and Dumon's defeat from Vector 4.Yugo's defeat from Rin 3.Joey's defeat from Mai (s4) 2.Yuma's defeat from Kaito 1.Whenever Yusaku loses lol
I'm still bummed that Yuma never beat Kite. I agree that Kite was supposed to face Yuma in the finals like you said before a story change. The writers probably had Kite beat Yuma as a thread to Zexal 2, but never got around to their rematch, since they spent the entire season as allies and on separate missions. On the bright side, the manga does give us a Kite vs Yuma rematch where Yuma wins, but it still would've been nice in the anime.
Wouldn't make sense for Kaito to beat Tron plot wise anyway. Make perfect for Yuma to be the one who beat Tron Shark is always Yuma's true rival in the anime, so....
The only duel where Yuma doesn’t lose to kite was went he was in zexal form they drew and after that Yuma lost every time and every duel before that so if Yuma went zexal again he would’ve defeated kite my guess is they did that on purpose in my opinion
If we’re talking about Shark and Kaito in the duel carnival arc, then yea I could see Kaito winning even though C32 has the potential to take down Neo Photon. But if we’re talking Zexal 2 (still pre Nasch) with other cards like Abyss Splash and Crystal Zero (and the other cards he used), and Kaito getting Number 46 and 62, (and all the other cards he used as well). then I see it going more in Shark’s favor but it’s still up for grabs. But once Shark gets access to his memories and cards as Nasch, then Kaito stands no chance. Kaito at his peak was Mizael Level, while Nasch on his own was stronger than Vector, Who was basically 5 Barian Emperors in 1. In the final duel with Yuma, Shark became the strongest (non boss) Duelist in Zexal as he outskilled Yuma and Astral Card game wise and lost because Yuma didn’t try to win
Atluzz TLDR: Pre Duel Carnival: Shark vs Kaito = Kaito stomps. Duel Carnival Arc: Shark vs Kaito = Kaito wins more often but Shark has a good chance of winning as well Numbers Ruins Arc (Assuming Kaito has 62 just for fairness sake): Shark vs Kaito = Shark most likely wins more often but Kaito has a chance Barian Onslaught Arc: Nasch vs Kaito = Nasch stomps. Kaito has very little chance of winning
One of the defeats that wasn't on this list that I found notable was Siegfried's loss to Kaiba. It's not often that the main villain gets interrupted in his plans, let alone outright defeated before he faces off against the protagonist.
Zigfried was Kaiba's to defeat because he interfered with Kaiba and not Yugi. Same with Noah, but the producers went out of their minds to have the main protagonist defeat the main villain, and it seems like they learnt their mistake afterwards.
@@vaniljacob I agree, to this day it made no sense for Yugi to step in for Kaiba and defeat Noah. That was Kaiba's big win and kind of halted his momentum going back to the tournament. So I'm glad they at least let him defeat Zigfried.
Respect for the list Dylan. I'll be honest I love Raphael as a character and say what you like about Waking the Dragon's it had some of the most intense duels and character moments in the shows history and I love it for that. That said my top 3 duels would be. Joey Vs Kaiba (Battle City) - Sheerly for the fact in this Arc Joey was shown to be a stronger duelist than ever and Marik only managed to beat him because he passed out. Kaiba pulled the win and showed to be a badass duelist in the end. Joey Vs Mai Valentine (Waking the Dragon) - This one's kind of obvious, I know Joey's a comic relief and I figured he'd save Mai but what I didn't expect was him to lose his soul doing so, this is the type of episode where I'd expect an Ex-Machina and sure enough there wasn't one. Judai Vs Manjyome Thunder (GX Manga, yes it counts!!!) The GX Manga did a ton of amazing things with the Season 1 characters development and the duel to decide who'd face Zane was amazing and when push came to shove it was one of the rare moments we see true depth from Chazz which you'd never see in the show. Awesome monsters, and surprising outcome.
Bless ya Dylan. Yeah I mean that's the thing with S4, it's writing from a continuity perspective wasn't the best but I think for certain characters specifically Joey, Mai, Raphael and Atem (somewhat) it really showed some of their strongest character moments and resolve. Valon may have been a pillock but his duel with Joey was probably my favourite of that entire series. ^_^
I thought Mai beating Joey in the Atlantis arc was pretty shocking. Not because of the outcome, but because of the aftermath. I expected her to defeat Raphael in exchange for Joey’s soul, or even join up with the main cast on a redemption quest like Atem did, but then she just gets dispatched off screen and no resolution is given to her once she’s saved!
Aw, that's a really good point. Mai throughout that entire arc was on a hunt to prove the true strength she had and it really showed in her final duel with Joey but then after it got kind of undercut. It's a shame because I'd like to see Mai Vs Raphael.
Mai as a character was completely underused and completely thrown aside. She never got closure or resolution to her storyline. Kaiba, Joey and Yugi are still the best duelists in the world. She never gets mentioned outside of a dub edit in GX, and even then she's not mentioned as a legend (she is appropriately mentioned as a Legend in the GX manga, if I recall). But we never see that in the manga/anime she debuts in. She loses to Joey in his first duel, she loses to a conflicted Yugi, she loses to Marik and Raphael, hell, she even loses to Téa (though that was an intentional surrender). When she only wins one fight (against Joey), how can she be a legend? Even her final duel, a Tag Duel with Vivian Wong against Para and Dox goes unresolved and very likely resulted in defeat judging by dialogue in GX! Sorry, I'm very passionate about Mai Valentine. She's my absolute favorite character in the franchise and the Harpie is my archetype of choice. Hell, she was even the only main character to be recast in the middle of the show (yes, Tristan and Mokuba were also recast, but Tristan was 12 episodes in and Mokuba was in the last season).
Well if it helps, most of that unresolved closure is added in the Anime. In the Manga, she didn't go insane after Marik's punishment (which is ironic considering it was much much worse over there.) On top of that, no one really gets a satisfying resolution in the Manga, even with DSOD. Aside from the definite Tea going dancing, Yugi still needed Atem's help, Joey needs money and wants to be a Pro, and Kaiba could be dead.
It's kinda sad that no one's gotten definitive closure in the original show. I haven't watched any of the other series all the way through, but didn't they all get satisfying conclusions?
Yeah I wish they would've at least shown the duel between Raphael and Mai. They could've made her look strong and pull like a Mario vs Joey situation where she fights her heart out for good but then right as about she's about to beat Raphael she faints from lost of energy.
I rather enjoyed Camula as a character. I was kinda miffed how they simply brushed off the fact that a: vampires are a thing, and b: Camula was the last vampire, and died!
I’m unsure if you’re joking or being serious. If Teá didn’t win, Yugi wouldn’t have advance. Yugi didn’t want to take the Star Chips because he felt unworthy of it to the point he couldn’t even duel. So Teà decided she will duel for Yugi instead.
Agreed. Mai, for as much of a cheater at times, predominately in the duelist kingdom ark, would have mopped the floor with tea, but decided to surrender for yugi's sake. Plus, she had more than enough starchips that she could afford the loss (against the tournament rules just to hand over...have to be "won" in a duel and that surrender still counted as a legit win for tea that would not get them disqualified....smart move mai) from dueling the heck out of people like weevil who just wanted to get in her pants, which she often would agree to if they could beat her....and then proceed to wreck them and get them eliminated from the tournament.
With me one of the most shocking was the loss of Syrus against his brother. It really sent a chill because it made it clear that though Zane was evil he was still Zane and just as powerful as he always has been.
Actually before kaito, Kaiser was the other rival never defeated by the protagonist. The closest judai even made it was the tie at the graduation duel and unfortunately enough he never dueled him again.
sean obihiro that’s true actually Kaito and Kaiser are the same they won the 1st game and will Kaiser tied 2nd game I always wanted Dark Kaiser to duel Judai
Owen Pickles I hear that a lot but honestly I don’t see why people believe Zane is one of Jaden’s rivals, they only dueled twice in season 1 and the only time they display any sort of rivalry is in that same season to a very minor extent. I feel you could just as easily argue that Bastion or even Jesse or Crowler is Jaden’s rival. Aster having a rivalry with Jaden is more believable but only for season 2. Don’t get me wrong, Zane and Aster would make great rivals, way better than Chazz imo, but I don’t see how the former was really that, and the latter was only for a season
10:30 Joey's biggest win I think is still his win against Valon. The one of Marik comes close but there his inexperience is still there. Against Valon though he is at his absolute best.
Yeah and he put so much effort into that duel that he was exhausted that he couldn't duel mai afterwards. which was why he lost his soul to the orichalcos
One of my favorite duels! Two men clashing in suits of shining armor, fighting over their princess. Awesome! The one that followed it had a sort of surprising end. Would have thought Joey would be wielding Hamos against Dartz.
Guys wtf why is nobody talking about Yusei’s literally only loss in 5ds against kiryu??? I mean yeah its technically not a loss because yusei’s d-wheel decomposed but he was about to lose to that direct attack anyway
You answered your own question - it wasn't technically a loss; due to the D-Wheel plot armour, it was chalked as a DNF. We all know Yusei effectively lost the duel but he technically didn't, even if he realistically couldn't do anything to stop Ccapac Apu's attack.
Even was a little 8 year old, Zigfried winning against Joey was obvious to me. In every other story, the main villain fights the main character in the final battle. Yugi vs. Pegasus, Yugi vs. Marik, Yugi vs. Dartz, etc.
Duel between Yuya and Yuzu has shock me but Atem and Raphael was sad because Yugi let seal take his soul instead of Atem's soul that make feel bad Atem after duel and I do agree with Atem some part not all the way
As much as I dont want to undermine Yuzu's win against Yuya early on, it literally happened due to some foreshadowing and because Yuya still had no clue how to Pendulum summon correctly, if I remember right. At that point, both of them were meh duelists in general and while Yuzu improved, by the end of it, Yuya naturally would win if they had a rematch. However, her winning was a bit shocking since I expected Yuya to know what he was doing lol
Like, maybe if it was later on and actually a good, well played duel, then yeah. But this was the beginning and Yuya had no clue about what he was doing :/
May I suggest a list of dirtiest/most underhanded tricks in the franchise? Like when an antagonist pulls a bad trick on one of the other characters? (*cough* Vector *cough)
I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this one: Aster VS Sartorius. After Aster's defeat of both Jaden and The D, combined with his so-far-correct statement about being able to change destiny, it seemed like this was going to be the moment when Aster was truly cemented as a prominent staple in the show by having him be the hero for this season. It seemed fitting, considering that the villains of this season had such direct ties to his life. Even though he was on the back foot for most of the duel, I was so sure he was going to win, especially when he was able to get out Destiny HERO - Plasma. Although I later realized I should've seen it coming that Jaden gets to be the one to take down Sartorius, I really thought that I had the outcome figured out, and it totally surprised me when he lost.
none of the defeats were as shocking as the ones on the list but if i had to include one, it would be probably be revolver vs lightning since lightning cheated (by using a hostage) and forced the duel into a draw (where he cheated a second time by giving himself 1 extra lp when his lp hit 0)
Atem losing to Rafael was fucking seared into my brain as a kid. Probably the only thing I like about season 3, it made the main protagonist seem vulnerable both physically and emotionally. And it showed that even the main character can have flaws
It's kind of funny because in Season 2 he was so powerful they wouldn't even let the Society of Light take him on and in Season 3 it took a heart attack to finally choke him off.
I know right? Zane he's like... "Dude, I don't care about the Society of Light, The Darkness or my Brother, I just want to OTK you". Actually that sounds like most players on YGO Pro ^_^
One of my favorite duels/shocking ones was shun vs sora 1 during the tournament, sora has a facedown and for sure I thought he’d activate and win but then a damn building fell on him and it was curtains for sora
#1 for me is definitely Zarc vs Reira, not because of the result, but because of how he lost to the exact same combo twice and the whole conflict is resolved just like that. (Yes, I'm still salty for Arc-V ending XD)
Rafael vs Atem. In my Top 5 Duels throughout the Series, and with good reason. Thinking about it, not only did Rafael release his hostage (Professor Hawkins) before Atem even arrived, but didn't break any rules while Duelling Atem. He fought him fairly. Then there's his Duelling Style. His willingness to savage his own Hand and Life Points if it meant protecting his Monsters on the Field, hid Deck being built to both protect his Monsters and punish the Opposing player for having Monsters in theirs in the Cemetery. In control of the Duel for the vast bulk of it, only becoming afraid when Timaeus was summoned - a point he made clear just before enacting his From-Behind Win. And by far the highlight, when Goddess Sword - Eatos' effect banished Atem's monsters to power up Eatos to 10,000 ATK, the look on their faces. Pure. Absolute. Contempt. Mirroring something I saw way back in the Battle City Arc, I'm sure you know what I refer to. Easily the highlight of the entire DOMA Arc.
Bullshit, Kaiba would have won if not for that bullshit "polymerization of a fossil creature with a dragon to render it weak". He didn't even need to threaten anything. The duel was his to win if season 1 had followed any rules whatsoever...
Maybe it wasn't unexpected, but one of the most shocking losses for me was Joey's loss to Merik at the end of Battle City. Because Joey literally just had to declare his attack and he would have won the duel.
Gearfried the iron knight was the mvp that duel. Malik didnt hit joey's life points. just used the phoenix form of ra to psychologically hurt joey. so ra disappeared from the field leaving joey an open field for a direct attack
@@andrewhunt7328 Gearfried did literally nothing bro; I'd say that the MVP for Joey was Jinzo, or maybe Gilford (unless that's who you actually meant?)
I knew Joey wasn't going to win that duel but how awesome it would've been for Joey to win The Winged Dragon of Ra and then face Yugi in the championship.
Hello; yes, in the original, he did die from lack of oxygen (Orbital 7, who served as his space-suit, had taken too much damage from the attacks to stay functional as his master's life support) after WINNING his duel nonetheless: so when he died, he didn't transform to red energy like the Arclight bros, he flat-out dropped dead. So when the Barian crisis was solved, he didn't come back to life like the others (the Barian emperors, despite not physically dying like he did, didn't come back either). However, in the last episode, Astral used the Numeron Code to revive them all (sort of like Monster Reborn, but with people).
When the Supreme King beat Jim and basically killed him that was a shocking moment for me. Also his next duel with Axel was also pretty shocking even though it ended with a draw.
I definitely agree with your number one and here’s why: Obviously this is a kid’s show, even from the start. The audience needs a clear understanding of a role model who also is very competent and will achieve what he sets out to do. This duel was staged to be no different, until the seal was played. Up until that point, all of our main heroes had been in duels where the seal was used against THEM and they had to overcome the adversity of the wanked card. It also clearly defined who was evil as the person who plays it does so KNOWING that whoever loses the duel loses their soul... Enter Rafael, he never played it once out of all of Dartz’ cronies. Rafael was depicted almost like an antihero, he genuinely showed goodness and a desire to save the world despite being against the heroes. And so it fell upon the Pharaoh once he got the card, nobody expected him to play it because it was very clearly evil, but he did and it changed his demeanor. It spelled out to the audience that we all have darknesses and weaknesses, and that giving into them can hurt ourselves or even the people around us (Yugi losing his soul instead of the Pharaoh). But it established a character build, because after that the Pharaoh had learn to conquer his darkness and become the hero we all knew he could be
In all honesty none of these are that controversal to me. Most provided better narratives and character progression for the characters involved. Then again it helps that i don't care for yuma so kite beating him was more of a joy if anything.
I think one reason why the writers had kite lose to vetrix is so that kite was still in a position where he could beat Yuma as if he had to duel Yuma in the finals, he might have had to lose so that Yuma could still become the champion
Multiply has always acted like that in the original anime and manga. Just because we got a nerfed one in real life, doesn't mean the original doesn't make sense.
When I remember why Jack lost against his robot impostor, I think it was because of him refusing to use a certain tuner monster that could have helped and didn't want to use it on his Red Dragon Archfiend
Kaito won his duel against Mizael. But then his suit/Orbital-7 ran out of power and air and he suffocated since they were on the freaking moon. A shocking moment, but not a shocking defeat!
I'm kind of surprised that the second Reiji vs Yuya duel isn't on here. I definitely expected Yuya to win there and I think you mentioned in your top 10 Arc-V duels that you expected that as well. I would definitely put it over some of 'the 'character letting the other win' duels.
Going into the duel I fully expected Reiji to win, Yuya won the first duel, and I just figured they would even the score. I was caught off guard at the end of the duel because Yuya seemed like he was going to pull it out and then just got blocked at the last second, but my initial prediction for that duel was Reiji so that didnt really surprise me
I can understand that. For me, I don't consider the result of their first duel to be a win for Yuya (I consider it just the duel being interrupted) so that's why I thought Yuya might pull of a win here. Well it's an awesome duel anyway.
Hello Dylan! Maybe not as shocking as the ones you've mentioned but the outcome of Nasch vs Vector caught me off guard, cause I was TOTALLY expecting that Yuma would be the one to defeat Vector.
Very nice list. I like it. I think probably the one that surprised me the most was Kaito VS Yuma [I actually remembered it as Kaito at one time and embracing argued just to be proven wrong] Along with Yami vs Rapheal. And although it didn't shock me for some reason I did love Tron vs Kaito
Edo beating Judai in season 2 of GX surprised me back when I first watched it about a decade ago. Also, Perhaps a Top 10 Character Backstories? Could be an interesting video.
I found 2 shocking losses in yu gi oh GX, in season 2 when Alexis loses to Chazz and she turns to the society of light. But even more shocking was Bastions loss to chazz later in the season, Bastion was treated very weirdly in GX. He started as a VERY powerful character beating everyone from the beginning and even chazz easily, only first losing to jaiden. After that he was treated as a bad duelist for some reason, and lost VERY STUPIDLY to the amazoness in the first season, and never battled again. Then against chazz, he wanted to prove that he was an AMAZING duelist, he was destroying chazz and I thought they ere finally going to bring his character back to stardom, showing that he is a very good duelist. But sartorius got into his mind and bastion threw the duel, then his character was back to being treated like trash. It honestly had me shocked.
Pharaos crying face is just so freakin hilarious. In this context it makes him look like a sore loser. I can just hear abridged Pharaoh voice coming from that mouth...
CFW Trick not gonna lie I can't take the original episode of atem losing to Raphael seriously anymore thanks to the abridged version of it lmao thanks LK
Kaitou vs Yuma felt like such a call back to Zane and Judai's duel, especially when we see they both drew the same card and used it, but where as Judai had one card to end things in a tie, Yuma instead took a loss which while shocking, felt right. because Yuma could still reach higher to high five that sky now that he knows there are people out there stronger than him even though he lost, he gave it his all
10.- "It's not about winning or losing, is how you play the game" -Atem, Duel Links- 9.- Clock guy from 5ds, team 5ds didnt have enough currency to pay rent, something happened with the son of an old lady that knew Yusei, Jack and Crow, and it ended up in a nice, cute *FILLER* moment 8.-It also shocked me as a kid how zane was blackmailed by camula into defeat 7.-Dude, i was like: "Oh! Look, character development for yum...*OMG! GET REKT WITH THE SAME CARD SCRUB! OH BABY IT'S TRIPLE* " 6.- IMO, that yuya loss gave the show a freshened and soft air to the show so they could take it easy at first 5.- Wasn't that one of the mass produced cyborgs from illiaster? TBF it helped jack evolve as a duelist and character (thanks to illiaster again; you could replace "illiaster" with "dinkleberg" and it would still work) 4.-SEASON WHAT? 3.- They screwed up with 3,4,5 and tron, they realized it would leave a plot hole, so they did it well with that last second change, that would also serve as foreshadow to Astral vs Barian Worlds 2.- TBF, GX's storyline follows Duel Monsters Spirit World, which at one point also showed us freed, so the power of blue-eyes is some of the greatest in this -verse 1.-SEASON WHAT SUMMON?
The result Alito vs Girag is quite shocking to me when I first watched it, didn't expect Alito to lose and Girag to died afterword so quickly. Poor Alito, lost all of his on screen duels...
You guys don’t understand, but Yugi never lost. The seal of orichalcos thing was unfair because he was being controlled, and Yami was in control as well, and the Rebecca thing was already explained in this video. Yami has lost once, and Yugi never has. The Seto Commitimg Suicide duel doesn’t count, as Yugi was a classic protagonist and didn’t want to kill him, while Yami was a savage and was all like, “Die die die die die die.” Anyways, lol, I think that if Yusei and the “Yusaki” or whatever dude battled, and the victor battled Yugi, they’d lose. Yugi is also from the original, and believe it or not, 4kids is nice and smart enough to not let the one who started this whole series lose. Yugi is un beatable, and I’m no theorist or employee of Konami or anything, I am just a fact-teller, and this is one of the few videos I’ll say my large opinion on. YuGiOh everything, you’re lucky to have me comment. I rest my case.
yeah hard to agree when LOSING TO REBECCA WAS STILL A LOSS. I don't care what anyone says, He forfeited the duel and as such, it still count as a loss. If you disagree thats your opinion, but I still count it as a loss.
Its not in the anime but it's an assumption. Yugi lost to Joey at the end of episode 144 to get Red Eyes Black Dragon; during the battle city tournament Joey gives Yugi his Red Eyes Black Dragon but then when you see Joey vs Valon between episodes 169 & 171 you see him use the card
Personally, Yuto's loss/death to Yugo was quite surprising, as well as Shun's loss to Sora during their second duel. After seeing how powerful Yuto was during his duel with Sawatari I really thought that he would've defeated Yugo with ease. As for Shun and Sora's second duel, I really thought Shun would've won again; he had so much hatred toward Academia and Sora.
I think the yugo vesus yuya’s dad was a broken duel because they improved a spell card specifically for fusion monsters and allowed it to work on XYZ mons
I'd rather say Yuri is the strongest of the Yus. Yes, I'd say Yugo was number 2, but not number one. Yuri never needed action cards to win, and defeated Asuka, Sora, and even Yusho. While I call BS on Rin's win over Yugo (her knowing Yugo's strategy while she had new cards of her own), Yugo would have lost to Sawatari in the Friendship Cup had he not grabbed an Action Card, and as we all know, Action Cards are not skill, it's plot armor.
MobiusLeader007 True, but in their duel Yugo most likely would’ve beaten Yuri if Kaito and Edo (two top tier Duelist in Arc V) hadn’t ganged up on him. Yugo had to use up a lot of cards to fend them off. It was basically Yugo vs Yuri Edo and Kaito
Two that come to mind are from the DM era, but they did really shock me when I saw them. One of my biggest ones was back in Duelist Kingdom when Kaiba forced Yugi’s hand with suicide attempt. I didn’t see it coming and the result of Yugi taking control away from Atemu to accept the loss and spare probably a rival with bad blood instead of talking him out of it was shocking. Yugi losing star chips did make wonder how the hell he was going to enough in time to face Pegasus. The second one is Jouniochi losing to Mai in the Doma arc. In hindsight it makes sense considering how spent he was from his last duel, but I kind figured he would win and save her somehow. They had him lose and free Mai with the sacrifice. The tear jerking ending between them was WTF moment for me.
To me the most shocking defeat was Juonochi (Joey) vs Marik. Even when I watch it as a kid with the spanish dub that scene was so well put together that it makes my number 1.
Joey would’ve technically won versus Yami Marik during Battle City, had he not collapsed due to exhaustion. Imagine Kaiba’s face when he would’ve gotten a worse placement in his own tournament than Joey.
The Number 69 summoning sequence was pretty epic though, and the way it turned Kaito's own Monster against him was pretty neat as well. Shame Konami heavily nerfed that card from the anime, would've been a great rank 4 to rival Shock Master.
+ glaciemdraco Stop talking bull*****. Its just an anime u know? Here some facts: Tron has defeated Kaito with no sweat, he was just toying him the entire duel. I suggest u to watch the duel again! Here ww4.gogoanime.io/yu-gi-oh-zexal-episode-64 Look after 4:00 Kaito said that no matter what he HAS to win and still attacked Tron even know his brother was going to take the hit too(either way the outcome of the duel was going to be pretty much the same). So writing bul***** like "He only lost cuz Tron was using his brother against him" are pretty much nonsense and useless. And deal with it already i love Kaito also but he can lose too! Not to mention how in episode 130 of "Arc V"' YURI totally outmatched him and Edo.
I actualy remember when that episode aired in Canada. I was still in elementary school and my whole school was like did you see that. Everyone heard and was shock and this was at the top of yugiohs popularity and then anyone who had anything guardian related got crazy trade offers for it
5.Yugi losing to Rebeca 4.Tied Zane losing to Camula Jaden losing to Kaibaman 3.Jaden losing to Zane (first duel) 2.Joe losing to Mai (s4) 1.Tied Atem losing to Raphael Yuya losing to Yuzu Kaito losing to Tron
yep when atem done that with the seal of orichalcos it was a huge shock because when you watch it you are just sitting still in shock and saying yea he will win but nope they threw that big twist at the end despite the fact atem had actually betrayed yugi after vowing to never go against his words again yugi still sacrificed himself to save atem
I know im super late to this but the most shocking lost if u ask me was the very first episode (1 & 2 as a whole) was Yugioh vs Pegasus if u ask me that was a lost for pegasus because if u take away time limit which A. was the ONLY duel in the series period (as i remember) that had a time limit that resulted in a technicality loss for Atem and B. Atem had not only had Pegasus beat he was the 1st to get around Pegasus"s millennium eye without using his heart of the cards. So with that being said the only thing that stopped Atem from getting the OFFICAL win was time (3 secs)
I will say number 1 on your list was one of the most shocking duels for me for sure. That duel didn't only shock me, but made me get emotional due to the fact that yugi lost his soul.
I must say I respect your decision but also generally speaking I feel in YGO ZeXal, Rio/Merag & Dumon/Durbe vs Vector should've made this list and Ill explain why, please leave thoughts & opinions below. THRICE during the duel the duo were the closest to winning debatable as one of in YGO history, and kept the viewer on the edge of their seat: 1. Merag attacks Marionette with Ragna-Infinity twice screaming how this is for her and Nasch in the past after Vector killed them, he takes the damage the first time and has the despair look in his eyes shortly before the second attack, but it fails. 2. Durbe summons Noble Daemon & attacks an effectless 0 atk Marionette again, once again, the fear showing in his character, saying how he'll take Vector to hell with him, it fails. 3. Merag angrily attacks the same Marionette AGAIN after Vector kills Durbe this time, seemingly she was about to avenge her comrade. IT FAILS. Two more reasons include: 4. Alito & Girag died only one episode in between, to kill Durbe, okay, fine, but to kill Merag too felt overkill, since she was Shark's sister, but they did it. 5. Shark was captured & they were trying to break him out of Vector & not get...you know, killed. Vector could lose here, again, the main villain was Don Thousand after all.
Great list! Number 4 was interesting because Joey's luck was completely against him for once. What you forgot to mention was that Joey also opens with a bum hand! Usually he opens with an ace and gets overconfident.
Maybe it's just because I failed to analyze Honda or gave him way to much credit (Season one made him look fairly competent at the game imho), but when Soichiro Ota/Nezbitt beat him I was pretty shocked, especially since Tea was able to beat Crump. Although I guess it's justified since he was protecting Serenity and I would much rather him lose than her. It was still pretty shocking though, but again, maybe I gave Tristan too much credit in Season 1? I'm not sure if that duel counts because Duke and Serenity ultimately won in the end, but Tristan/Honda's defeat shocked me as a kid. Also my all-time favorite duel.
Tbh, I did enjoy the number 1 spot- mostly as I did enjoy the huge development Yami got throughout the season and how we got more development on what Yami's and Yugi's partnership is- plus, it was a WTF twist in some sense, and im just sadly a sucker for those type of twists.
When you spoke about the duel with Kaito and Yuma, it was actually their their third duel against each other because Yuma and Astral had duel inside the key back when Kaito infiltrated the key and the duel ended in a draw.
I was genuinely attached to the Yugioh characters as a kid, so I literally cried when I first saw the Yami V Raphael outcome. Especially since Yami was crying, and he never cries, so when he started crying I started crying and...(God dang it here come the waterworks!)
Hope you guys enjoy! Some honorable mentions:
Mai defeats Joey (S4) - Had Joey not been exhausted from his duel VS Valon, this probably would have made it.
He just didn't know the equip spell could be equipped on another harpy once the equipped one is destroyed.
well yugi (normal yugi ) lost his soul a lot of times in season 0
seriusly what the hek ?
(stil love s0)
Yeah but in that season the entire thing is yugi is useless and atem is a badass.
For Gx, Zane losing to Aster was a real shock as you didn't expect Zane to losing so early to his career in the pro league.
Thats true actually! And Aster was someone who just got introduced to us
And totally unnecessary lost..
@@ahmed19141 It wasn't unnecessary lol Zane got his ass handed to him because Aster is a seasoned pro
funny thing is, the only reason zane lost was because the writers changed the effect of Destruction of Destiny so that Aster could win.
When Atem lost to Rafael was just insane to me. Especially how broken he was after Yugis soul was taken
It was an insane turn of events that still makes me sad watching it haha
I remember watching it as a kid and was in complete and utter shock when Yugi lost, I stopped watching the show for weeks. To this day whenever I think of Yugioh I'm always reminded of that loss.
Pate Gaming. Whats shocking is that he won with mothafuckin guardians. Guardians of all things. The first duel atem lost without any cheating involved, and he lost to guardians
Me too. I was shocked when he lost. I was frozen😅
Pate Gaming it's a retarded way to end a duel when everybody and their mothers know that Yugi would never use the seal card.
He'd sooner use it as discard bait before playing it lol.
Yusei putting Aki in the friend zone should be number one.
Nah, everyone saw that coming.
Jerry Junior anzu and katori might be exceptions, as it is ambiguous.
wasn’t there an implied kiss when they said their goodbyes
lmao
ApTheGreat, Pretty sure that is canon
No Joey vs Marik? Yeah we all expected Marik to win at first, but Joey legit would've won had he attacked. Joey in a way did what Atem couldn't do; defeat Marik legitimately.
And it's heavily implied that he beated Atem later on too to win back his red eyes.
DarthUchiha17 true because he said he was going to win that red eyes back from Atem the right way! Then it ends up in his deck later on.
MobiusLeader007 Yami Marik had one life point left and th card he always has to depend on, the winged dragon of ra, was permanently removed from the field. Yami Yugi would've beat Yami Marik even if good Marik didn't step in and surrender.
Right?! It still bothers me to this day
@@DarthUchiha91
Wasn't every duel that Joey had after the one with Marik filler though?
Kaiba vs Joey was filler
The tournament arc after that was completely filler as well
And he never had a duel in the last season as far as I remember.
Never forget the day the Pharoah let all his emotions out...
Was truly a sad day :/
DORO! MONSTO CARDO!
The number one is number one.
That was the day the Darkness starts controlling the pharaoh. It was fully unexpected.
RetroPokerFan, When did that happen?
Young me cried it was a sad day :/
Yusei beating Jean was a shock. If Jean wasn't so stupid and just ended his turn, he would have beaten Yusei.
That one is unforgettable, out of the bs wins Yusei pulled, that one is the only one I can't possibly forgive
HAHA thats true, that was crazy
Hahaha! I forgot about that one. Nothing beats a player like Yusei giving them the love eyes.
yes, that was a ridiculous way the writers of the anime find to make Yusei not lose, in my mind he totally lost this duel, counting 3 loses to yusei: 1- against Jack in the flashback. 2-against Kiryu when he fell of the bike and 3- against team Unicorn
that was indeed the most bs victory he had in 5ds
Had Yuseis LP hit 0, I definitely would have had it most likely in the top 5!
frostyguy1989 couldn't agree more with you on that 😊
@@YugiohEverything dude he lost falling off your bike has no impact otherwise anybody can hop off
Yes even tho his only losss I counted not the one at the beginning of the show
10.leo's defeat from Aporia (resulting his death before coming back to life)
9.Ute/Yuto's defeat from Yugo
8.Jaden's defeat from Edo
7.Yugo's defeat from Yuri
6.Atem vs Raphael
5.Mirag and Dumon's defeat from Vector
4.Yugo's defeat from Rin
3.Joey's defeat from Mai (s4)
2.Yuma's defeat from Kaito
1.Whenever Yusaku loses lol
I'm still bummed that Yuma never beat Kite. I agree that Kite was supposed to face Yuma in the finals like you said before a story change.
The writers probably had Kite beat Yuma as a thread to Zexal 2, but never got around to their rematch, since they spent the entire season as allies and on separate missions. On the bright side, the manga does give us a Kite vs Yuma rematch where Yuma wins, but it still would've been nice in the anime.
Wouldn't make sense for Kaito to beat Tron plot wise anyway. Make perfect for Yuma to be the one who beat Tron
Shark is always Yuma's true rival in the anime, so....
The only duel where Yuma doesn’t lose to kite was went he was in zexal form they drew and after that Yuma lost every time and every duel before that so if Yuma went zexal again he would’ve defeated kite my guess is they did that on purpose in my opinion
Yuma and Shark both rose a tier above Kaito by the end of Zexal 2. A rematch for any of them would be cool, but Yuma or Shark would win
Atluzz TLDR:
Pre Duel Carnival: Shark vs Kaito = Kaito stomps.
Duel Carnival Arc: Shark vs Kaito = Kaito wins more often but Shark has a good chance of winning as well
Numbers Ruins Arc (Assuming Kaito has 62 just for fairness sake): Shark vs Kaito = Shark most likely wins more often but Kaito has a chance
Barian Onslaught Arc: Nasch vs Kaito = Nasch stomps. Kaito has very little chance of winning
One of the defeats that wasn't on this list that I found notable was Siegfried's loss to Kaiba. It's not often that the main villain gets interrupted in his plans, let alone outright defeated before he faces off against the protagonist.
Thats very true, I did actually think Siegfried was gonna win that duel when I was younger
I remember that duel. Kaiba was talking cash money shit and showboat so hard!
Great list Adam! And Raphael was one of my favorite characters from S4 as well! Very well developed I thought
You sir, have my respect.
ILoveAnhel :) Thanks dude, no idea what I did to earn that.
Actually Chazz had more depth in the show..
Yuma and Kites second duel was inside of Astrals Key, the first was in the middle of the road when it was raining. You meant their third duel
When the hanoi knight from episode 2 lost against Yusaku
It was so shocking and unpredictable for me and for other fans
HAHAHAHAHAHA that would have been a good troll #1
You mean the Scrub of Hanoi? Lol
Most shocking defeat in Yugioh: The real Scrub of Hanoi vs Lonely Brave (aka the fat guy that tries to be friend of Yuzaku)
I rather enjoyed Camula as a character. I was kinda miffed how they simply brushed off the fact that a: vampires are a thing, and b: Camula was the last vampire, and died!
To me one of the most shocking defeats in Yu-Gi-Oh is Tea's defeat of Mai in season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh
bruh really
I’m unsure if you’re joking or being serious. If Teá didn’t win, Yugi wouldn’t have advance. Yugi didn’t want to take the Star Chips because he felt unworthy of it to the point he couldn’t even duel. So Teà decided she will duel for Yugi instead.
Mai surrendered, though. She was kicking Tea's ass.
Mia let her win
I bet number one is Dylan vs NAS
LOL that should have definitely made this, but I snubbed it
Yugioh Everything I honestly still have no idea how your channel survived that, but I'm so glad it did.
Kaiser is not Judai's rival though
He's one of them, Mr. X, He has 3, Aster Zane and Chazz.
10:30
Joey's biggest win I think is still his win against Valon.
I have to agree with you
Also known as Kalin Kessler in the dub is it?
AdamJc75 yes sir
You answered your own question - it wasn't technically a loss; due to the D-Wheel plot armour, it was chalked as a DNF.
We all know Yusei effectively lost the duel but he technically didn't, even if he realistically couldn't do anything to stop Ccapac Apu's attack.
@@dancostello4872 crashing your d wheel should count as a loss like Joey vs Marik
However, her winning was a bit shocking since I expected Yuya to know what he was doing lol
glaciemdraco I agree. I don't know why that moment is so hyped up. Yuya didn't know how to use Pendulum, and didn't take the duel seriously.
Shadow Star that would be an interesting list 😁
Or Vetrix? He twisted Kaito's emotions to the limit by using his brother as bait.
I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this one:
Aster VS Sartorius.
"Including VRAINS"
*No VRAINS duel found*
none of the defeats were as shocking as the ones on the list but if i had to include one, it would be probably be revolver vs lightning since lightning cheated (by using a hostage) and forced the duel into a draw (where he cheated a second time by giving himself 1 extra lp when his lp hit 0)
Atem losing to Rafael was fucking seared into my brain as a kid.
Probably the only thing I like about season 3, it made the main protagonist seem vulnerable both physically and emotionally. And it showed that even the main character can have flaws
They only way they could get rid of Kaiser during the shadow riders arc was through pure bullshit because no one could overpower him.
Thats very true, definitely an irritating loss haha
It's kind of funny because in Season 2 he was so powerful they wouldn't even let the Society of Light take him on and in Season 3 it took a heart attack to finally choke him off.
Actor Adam Anouer I love how he gave no shits about the whole Society of Light and GX tournament and was just there to test out his new deck XD
That was crazy, Soras whole reveal in that duel was insane, made me really fall in love with arc v
Yugioh Everything definitely in my top 10 favorite duels all time, good back and forth too
#1 for me is definitely Zarc vs Reira, not because of the result, but because of how he lost to the exact same combo twice and the whole conflict is resolved just like that.
(Yes, I'm still salty for Arc-V ending XD)
HAHA fair enough xD
Well, atleast we can take solace knowing it took over 7 people to defeat ONE guy.
Correction, over 7 people just for the guy to defeat himself
Oh yeah, I forgot he does that.
Well, a rebelling piece of himself, in any case.
Also, I think of that as Zarc not adapting to the combo. "These cards are busted, plz nerf"
Oh cmon , where is the yugi vs kaiba in the duel kindom , at the castel , that was the most intense one
This is on my list too
To be fair though, Kaiser essentially threatened to lose or else for Sho is in the same category.
Lesi Balto that wasnt a surprise. If atem would of strike he would of killed a main character.
Castel? Someone has the skyblasting musketeer on the brain haha

I WAS SO SAD WHEN KAITO DIED
you mean when he went to another space. :)
That was a sad moment, I was stunned when he lost
4000 Subscribers With No Videos Challenge did he actually die? Because I've only watched the dub so idk if that was a dub change
no he was revived
How has nobody mentioned Kaiba beating Yugi in season 1? That duel got turned around at the last moment.
Mask Gamer to be fair he was gonna kill himself because without his brother Mokuba he would have no one else left
Because Yugi already had the win clinched and just handed it to Kaiba.. Kaiba knows it wasn't a true victory and hr was still bested.
stuart pino a lot of cards work differently in the anime...
stuart pino not to mention he fused a monster with a spell card
Multiply has always acted like that in the original anime and manga. Just because we got a nerfed one in real life, doesn't mean the original doesn't make sense.
When I remember why Jack lost against his robot impostor, I think it was because of him refusing to use a certain tuner monster that could have helped and didn't want to use it on his Red Dragon Archfiend
“The only character to give kite a loss” I though kite lost to the Barion later on??
Kaito won his duel against Mizael. But then his suit/Orbital-7 ran out of power and air and he suffocated since they were on the freaking moon. A shocking moment, but not a shocking defeat!
Lacatymi thanks! I knew he suffocated but I mis-remembered that as being due to a loss
The Kaito/Yuma Rematch is one of my most favorite duels for the fact that I didn't expect the win. Same with Ryo's first duel against Judai.
Thats understandable! Yeah it is an incredible duel!
Hello Dylan! Maybe not as shocking as the ones you've mentioned but the outcome of Nasch vs Vector caught me off guard, cause I was TOTALLY expecting that Yuma would be the one to defeat Vector.
Nice list, but the duel shown in the ZeXaL opening is not just perfect proof, remember fire dragon from Fine Weather Rising, Hallelujah? No dice.
Or Yuya VS Yugo from Hanate (ARC-V OP 3).
Number 7 was such a joy to watch.. OMG it was a shock to see Yuma LOSE the one time we thought he could've won
I had no idea Yugioh ran for this long. The last season I thought they made was with Jaden. Ha Good video dude
LOL YOU'RE HELLA LATE
Chazz (Manjoume) beating Aster Phoenix in Season 4 of GX was pretty shocking to me.. but I see why these were ahead
it was very funny though ojama yellow just walking up to him and punching it GMFU
Thanks Sika! Glad you enjoyed!
Edo beating Judai in season 2 of GX surprised me back when I first watched it about a decade ago.
Also, Perhaps a Top 10 Character Backstories? Could be an interesting video.
9:16 Yuma vs Kaito was the 1st on the list where it was a fair defeat even though Yuma gave it all
i think nobody in the world has a bigger knowledge of the ygo tv shows than this guy
Thank you so much Frank! =)
i do! mwhaha
Mihael Jelić kako nađeš da gledaš?
Bastion won 1 duel in total in the GX series unfortunately, which is sad considering he had very interesting decks and attribute gimmics
@@emilburatovic409 Bastion went 2-3 in GX.
@@whispererbordah4991 What was his 2nd win ?
@@emilburatovic409 He beat the duel proctor in the opening episode and Chazz before he fucked off to North Academy.
@@whispererbordah4991 ahhh true, I forgot about the proctor
I skipped school to watch the episode atem lost to raphael. I genuinely cried when yugi said "it only needs one of us"
Pharaos crying face is just so freakin hilarious.
In this context it makes him look like a sore loser.
I can just hear abridged Pharaoh voice coming from that mouth...
HAHA me too! The abridged series is so influential xD xD
"YUGI LOSTTTTTTT!!!!!" *cry noises* I watch abridged to much sometimes. xD
lol he was crying because he lost Yugi's soul, not because he lost the duel.
CFW Trick not gonna lie I can't take the original episode of atem losing to Raphael seriously anymore thanks to the abridged version of it lmao thanks LK
YUGIIIIIIAAAAAAAAHHHHRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!
OMG 😱 Yack vs Yack 🤦♂️. I was so schocked. Excellent pick 👍
atem getting defeated by Raphael that shocked me
Yes! I think thats the most iconic one on this list as well, by a mile
Kaitou vs Yuma felt like such a call back to Zane and Judai's duel, especially when we see they both drew the same card and used it, but where as Judai had one card to end things in a tie, Yuma instead took a loss which while shocking, felt right. because Yuma could still reach higher to high five that sky now that he knows there are people out there stronger than him even though he lost, he gave it his all
10.- "It's not about winning or losing, is how you play the game" -Atem, Duel Links-
9.- Clock guy from 5ds, team 5ds didnt have enough currency to pay rent, something happened with the son of an old lady that knew Yusei, Jack and Crow, and it ended up in a nice, cute *FILLER* moment
8.-It also shocked me as a kid how zane was blackmailed by camula into defeat
7.-Dude, i was like: "Oh! Look, character development for yum...*OMG! GET REKT WITH THE SAME CARD SCRUB! OH BABY IT'S TRIPLE* "
6.- IMO, that yuya loss gave the show a freshened and soft air to the show so they could take it easy at first
5.- Wasn't that one of the mass produced cyborgs from illiaster? TBF it helped jack evolve as a duelist and character (thanks to illiaster again; you could replace "illiaster" with "dinkleberg" and it would still work)
4.-SEASON WHAT?
3.- They screwed up with 3,4,5 and tron, they realized it would leave a plot hole, so they did it well with that last second change, that would also serve as foreshadow to Astral vs Barian Worlds
2.- TBF, GX's storyline follows Duel Monsters Spirit World, which at one point also showed us freed, so the power of blue-eyes is some of the greatest in this -verse
1.-SEASON WHAT SUMMON?
Enjoyed the list breakdown! xD
Mute Himself LMAO
yeah hard to agree when LOSING TO REBECCA WAS STILL A LOSS. I don't care what anyone says, He forfeited the duel and as such, it still count as a loss. If you disagree thats your opinion, but I still count it as a loss.
Yugi lost once against Rebecca. Atem lost twice against Raphael and Yugi
Captain Searunett I doubt it remember waking the dragons is filter the writers probably gave joey red eyes back
Personally, Yuto's loss/death to Yugo was quite surprising, as well as Shun's loss to Sora during their second duel. After seeing how powerful Yuto was during his duel with Sawatari I really thought that he would've defeated Yugo with ease. As for Shun and Sora's second duel, I really thought Shun would've won again; he had so much hatred toward Academia and Sora.
Branington As much as I love Shun, it makes sense Sora would win their 2nd round, as he himself said that he didn't take the first duel seriously.
I think the yugo vesus yuya’s dad was a broken duel because they improved a spell card specifically for fusion monsters and allowed it to work on XYZ mons
Yugo is the strongest of the 4. Yuto or Yuya is the weakest. (Assuming Yuya only gets cards related to him and nothing from Yuto Yugo or Yuri)
Wow i never thought of a list like that, once again way to go Dylan!
Hey what about Astral losing to Yuma in the final episode of Yu Gi Oh Zexal?
If Yuma lost, Astral was going erase everyone’s memories from what happened throughput the entire series
Awesome Top 10 video it was interesting to look back at these duels.
That Yugi vs Raphael duel... my god!!!😭😭😭😭
Definitely sad :/
Mask Gamer moments where Plot armor means nothing.
That 3 part episode was a rollercoaster of emotions! 😭😭😭😭😭
Joey would’ve technically won versus Yami Marik during Battle City, had he not collapsed due to exhaustion.
Imagine Kaiba’s face when he would’ve gotten a worse placement in his own tournament than Joey.
1. 14:00 Me and my sister called this Yugi on my mind
I am surprised nobody is mentioning Yuya's loss to Sergey. That definitely caught me off guard when I watched ARC-V
Tron tbh only won cause he used Haruto against Kaito - who would never hurt his brother so... >.
Thats true! A lot of the shocking results are because of something like that though :)
Yeah :/
Sevgin Mustafa arc-v kaito and edo is not the same as zexal kaito or gx edo, but I agree with the rest of your comment
I actualy remember when that episode aired in Canada. I was still in elementary school and my whole school was like did you see that. Everyone heard and was shock and this was at the top of yugiohs popularity and then anyone who had anything guardian related got crazy trade offers for it
5.Yugi losing to Rebeca
4.Tied
Zane losing to Camula
Jaden losing to Kaibaman
3.Jaden losing to Zane (first duel)
2.Joe losing to Mai (s4)
1.Tied
Atem losing to Raphael
Yuya losing to Yuzu
Kaito losing to Tron
yep when atem done that with the seal of orichalcos it was a huge shock because when you watch it you are just sitting still in shock and saying yea he will win but nope they threw that big twist at the end despite the fact atem had actually betrayed yugi after vowing to never go against his words again yugi still sacrificed himself to save atem
Just so you know, in the manga of yugioh zexal, Yuma actually did beat Kaito, odd, right?
They never put it in the anime.....
I know im super late to this but the most shocking lost if u ask me was the very first episode (1 & 2 as a whole) was Yugioh vs Pegasus if u ask me that was a lost for pegasus because if u take away time limit which
A. was the ONLY duel in the series period (as i remember) that had a time limit that resulted in a technicality loss for Atem and
B. Atem had not only had Pegasus beat he was the 1st to get around Pegasus"s millennium eye without using his heart of the cards.
So with that being said the only thing that stopped Atem from getting the OFFICAL win was time (3 secs)
never forget kaiba and his suicidal threat win.
J Noodle I didn’t forget about that
I will say number 1 on your list was one of the most shocking duels for me for sure. That duel didn't only shock me, but made me get emotional due to the fact that yugi lost his soul.
Yeah it was shocking and just crazy honestly! Such an iconic moment
I must say I respect your decision but also generally speaking I feel in YGO ZeXal, Rio/Merag & Dumon/Durbe vs Vector should've made this list and Ill explain why, please leave thoughts & opinions below.
THRICE during the duel the duo were the closest to winning debatable as one of in YGO history, and kept the viewer on the edge of their seat:
IT FAILS.
Two more reasons include:
Yugioh everything sounds so much like voice actor yuri lowenthal. Which is badass . It's like hearing sasuke uchiha or teen ben 10
Nasch vs Yuma was the most shocking ending for me
I think Aster Pheonix beating not only Jaden but Zane as well was pretty shocking.
I just saw my comment on Yugi vs Rebecca and realized my grammatical error. Rip
It was still a loss. I dont care what you think, no matter what you say to me it is still a loss to me.
Great list!
Number 4 was interesting because Joey's luck was completely against him for once. What you forgot to mention was that Joey also opens with a bum hand! Usually he opens with an ace and gets overconfident.
Thats true, i forgot joeys hand was horrible in this duel! Glad you liked the list!
Calling it now, Yugo vs Rin is on this
Thats a good prediction.
That along with Joey VS Mai were my top two honorable mentions that just missed out
Yugou Dane? Ore wa Yuugo da!
YGOTAS Reference Raphael: Now to rip your soul from your screaming flesh ahh I love being a good guy.
6:36 this is like the Ash should have won the kalos league moment
İ think number one is Yugo vs Yuri
Tbh, I did enjoy the number 1 spot- mostly as I did enjoy the huge development Yami got throughout the season and how we got more development on what Yami's and Yugi's partnership is- plus, it was a WTF twist in some sense, and im just sadly a sucker for those type of twists.
It was really good for his character and definitely a great twist!
Jaden, and Zane's draw.
Enough said.
When you spoke about the duel with Kaito and Yuma, it was actually their their third duel against each other because Yuma and Astral had duel inside the key back when Kaito infiltrated the key and the duel ended in a draw.
Calling it now Nas losing to Dylan is number one
HAHA I should have done honorable mentions and that should have been on there!
Honorable mention
I was genuinely attached to the Yugioh characters as a kid, so I literally cried when I first saw the Yami V Raphael outcome. Especially since Yami was crying, and he never cries, so when he started crying I started crying and...(God dang it here come the waterworks!)
